  1. Another recommendation for First Aid Box! (Sister bar to the above mentioned Shrub and Shutter) The Crooked Well in Camberwell also do excellent cocktails A little further afield - Brunswick House in Vauxhall is also great
  2. Gary Vu has fixed lamps for me in the past - highly recommend him!
  3. Try Sebastian - he walks our dogs twice a day and he also does dog training His number is 07894 229 903
  4. Try Sebastian - he walks our whippets twice daily and I believe he also looks after dogs in his own house - His number is 07894 229 903
  5. Myla and Davis are excellent for highlights and cuts - there's a branch on North Cross Road (also in Herne Hill and Brixton) In the past I spent a lot of time (and money!) at bigger brand salons in the West End, and personally I think the quality at Myla and Davis is just as good (and I'm quite particular with cut and colour..)
  6. I highly recommend Sebastian - he's been walking our two whippets for a while and they are always happy and tired in the evening. He's also very interested in dog training / behaviour so provides lots of useful tips and observations. His number is 07894 229 903
  7. Hi Louise We had some of our panels replaced by Keith at KN Stained Glass Ltd - he did an excellent job. His number is 07834 973 859
  8. Most pubs around ED are totally fine with dogs - the only ones I know of that don't allow dogs are the EDT and Palmerston Quite a lot of shops are dog-friendly too... although often depends on the size of the shop and dog!
  9. I've also seen some "wood" tiles recently which looked quite interesting - might be worth a look for a kitchen area? (easy to clean, no chance of food falling into the cracks!) I think I saw some in the tile shop up near The Plough on Lordship lane
  10. Hi Becky We used a company called KN Stained Glass Ltd to repair the stained glass in our Edwardian front door. Keith did a fantastic job and the work was very reasonably priced. KN Stained Glass Ltd - Keith Neiles - 07834 973 859
  11. Yes, I've used them for both my downstairs living rooms floors and recently for a bedroom. Both times they did an excellent job - very tidy, great finish. The bedroom had quite a few floor boards which needed replacing - you'd never be able to tell which ones have been added. Everyone who has seen the finished floors has been amazed by how good they now look.
  12. Just saw this thread today - what a terrible experience! Your poor dog :-( If anyone is looking for a reliable dog walker - I second the recommendation above for Kamila. She has been walking our dogs for years and is totally trustworthy and highly recommended. Her number is 07971 141 197
  13. Gary Vu (electrician) was recommended to me on the forum, and he completed several small jobs for me. He was reliable, helpful and honest about his pricing. I will definitely use him again. If you do a search for him, you can find lots of other positive feedback for him.
  14. Another recommendation for Matthew - just finished lots of decorating work (plastering, painting) in our house, and he and his guys did a good job, were helpful and reliable.
  15. I have two lamps which have stopped working following a house move (one floor standing lamp, one table top). I've tried taking them apart and putting back together again with no joy - so perhaps they need completely new fittings. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can get these fixed locally?
  16. Another recommendation - Mickey re-plastered a wall in our bedroom - was punctual, tidy and did a great job! Will definitely use him again.
  17. I used Harradines recently - although not cheap, they were very efficient (and we had a LOT of stuff...)
  18. I highly recommend Keatings (just opposite ED station). They were very professional and spot on in how they marketed our house - we had two offers within the first couple of weeks. We had originally tried to sell our house using one of the bigger estate agent chains and they were terrible - so unprofessional and it just felt like they could not be bothered to make much of an effort to sell our house...
  19. Hi Nico1 - What days/times is the shop open? I wandered over around noon earlier for a browse and the shop was shut. Couldn't see any times in the window either :-(
  20. Norfolk is lovely - lots of nice walks, vast beautiful beaches (Holkham beach allows dogs all year round), and plenty of dog friendly pubs. We stayed in a lovely place called Strattons in Swaffam (not the most picturesque town, but the hotel was lovely) - hotel is very dog friendly and even supplied our dogs with fresh pork crackling as a treat! Norfolk is only a few hours drive from London.
  21. We went last Saturday and it was great fun - highly recommended, especially if the weather is good. Quite a few people brought chairs, cushions, big blankets and we even spotted a few duvets as well! Clearly some people are professional outdoor cinema goers... Most people brought picnics and there were quite a few champagne corks popping about which was amusing. The film started about 30 minutes late as they were waiting for sunset, and there was also a 15 minute intermission so it didn't finish up until 11:30 or so. We had to exit via the main gate which was a bit of a pain as there aren't really any buses back to East Dulwich from that side. It also gets cool quite quickly once it's dark so definitely bring something warm to put on.
  22. Hello fellow East Dulwich dog owners - Over the past two days my dog keeps coming out in some sort of "hives" on his face - he's all lumpy looking, a bit like Mickey Rourke. Most disturbing. He's completely fine otherwise, and it subsides after a few hours. Having seen the vet and done a thorough inspection of the house, I'm having to conclude it's something outside. I'm curious to know whether any other dog owners in the area have noticed anything similar with their pooches recently and if they have any idea of what it might be?
  23. I've quite partial to a Linda McCartney veg sausage sandwich - perfect comfort food until the weather warms up.....
