  1. Hi Lucky I had an elective C Section at kings late last year for the birth of my twins (first children). On the assigned date we weretold to arrive at 730am. Very quickly we were "booked in" and seen by midwives etc. We were informed at around 830 that I was going in second so we should expect to "hang around" for a couple of hours (at this point we were in gowns ready to go). The section happened and immediately I had skin to skin with one baby (other one had to be seen by paediatrics), as long as you have no complications this won't be an issue. The theatre staff were very kind and made a real effort to ensure I was happy about how things would/were proceeding. I was in for 3 night but had some major complications resulting from having post delivery pre-eclampsia which presented itself around 10 mins after the births. I was in HDU for one night and then 2 nights on the ward - in a 4 bed general ward. There were no private rooms available (I was told twin mothers get priority but there are certain other circumstances that are higher up the list). 2 nights is the standard time for first time mother after a section with no issues. If I did it again I would honestly take my own ibuprofen and paracetamol. On the general ward they did not care if you were in pain and had not had pain killers for like 8 hours or something. I got told I was out of schedule with the handing out painkillers so I would have to wait until the general hand out time! Just write down what you take and when. A friend had a section about a week before me and told me I must buy Tena lady pants (in a big size). Best thing I took with me! And I carried on wearing them until 1 week post section. I did have some feeding issues but reckon the pre eclampsia and 2 babies were more the issue than the section. Try not to be nervous about the section - you'll be fine. Think of the positives - you know when baby will arrive! I was walking round the park a week after the section and have had no other section related complications. The general ward is a fairly grim place to be, I've been a patient in Kings before and the post delivery ward is VERY factory like (maybe all post natal wards are) and in my opinion you do not get treated like a proper hospital patient. I realise this is all due to funding etc. All the very best! Happy to answer any questions.
  2. I have just come on to look and see if anyone is collecting, I'm the same wish to give baby stuff but with 2 babies to look after I can't travel across London. Please update if you hear of any local collection points.
  3. I especially agree about the engine running part and was wondering when I saw one the other day - do they need the engines running for the machinery in the van to work or something? Would genuinely like to know the answer, if anyone is up on these matters.
  4. Hi there I had to get scaffolding up quite quick and these guys did a fab job because they were so accommodating - [email protected] The guys called Jimmy
  5. Does anyone know if the Cafe in the park has re-opened?
  6. No doubt they will fit they are very tall, maybe mam make the same sort of thing?
  7. I express for my twins and one of them will drink at room temperature the other it has to be heated. I use the tommee tippee insulated carriers which works for a couple of hours, probably up to 3. I've not figured anything out for longer periods...
  8. i would like to advise what I have been told by my health visitor (I have 3 week old twins) as it doesn't agree with what Saffron knows/has been told. My health visitor says that only babies from Asian or African backgrounds are now eligible for BCG if you don't have these backgrounds (or routinely travel to these parts of the world) your baby will not be immunised. She said if I was concerned about my babies not having the vaccine to get it done privately which I am considering. Thanks
  9. Yes - get brad from all round renovation. Search him on here and you'll find his contact details. Also if you have the original banister use him to restore - you will be AMAZED how good it ends up looking!
  10. Route 12 has perfectly good buses already. How do they even decide when new buses get put on routes? The 176 buses are horrible and when one goes down lordship lane you actually have to stop your conversation (if having one) because they are so ridiculously noisy! That is the route that needs the new buses!
  11. I will next time I'm at the Ritzy but i don't tend to pop over to brixton every day!
  12. I was at the ritzy buying membership the other day and when the lady who served me said official opening is in March (she did tell me the date but I've forgotten it).
  13. Thanks for the recommendations I shall try these out.
  14. Hello everyone. I'm looking for someone/a company who can provide metal railings and a gate for the front of my house. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

  16. Thank you! James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I was assured last year summerthat that section > would be repaired in the Autumn 2013. > I'll chase that down. Bloody annoying. That whole > area is a bit of a pickle.
  17. Is there anything we can get done about the pavement outside the section with the shoe shop and also near GBK. With the rain yesterday I actually took to walking partly down the road!
  18. I needed a plumber to hook up a couple of kitchen taps. All the bits finally arrived on Thursday, looked up a plumber on here. I found Danny, he answered straight away and said he could pop over and take a look on the same day. He came over gave me a price, came back today with Simon his colleague and did the job. No faffing or anything just great work, all done to my satisfaction. I will be in touch with him again when I need my next plumbing job done (radiators removed). Danny - 07879 220 447.
  19. MaybeED - if you are going to Canary Wharf it's super easy. I take the bus up to Denmark Hill and it only takes 40mins door to desk!
  20. Does anyone know if Lucas are re-locating! I love sitting out there in the summer. I love sushi too so know you can't have everything but...
  21. Thanks for the tips - have called and they can sort it out.
  22. Hi everyone. I'm after a mirror (literally just a plain flat mirror to stick on a wall)cut to fit a very specific size. I know there is a place on Clapham High St but wondering if anyone knows of a local place that do this? Ideally somewhere I can call up with the size and then it will be ready the next or 2 days later? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Laura
  23. Hi James Did you find out when these works are to finish? It's taking a long time to resurface a bus stop and causing chaos! Many thanks
  24. Hi everyone - has anyone managed to get a person to do damp proofing work that doesn't cost a small fortune. I've had a quote from recommendations on here and can honestly not believe the cost! We are doing a lot of work on the house but this quote I received was just wacky! It would be enough to pay a couple of builders for at least a week (more likely 2) to fix a meter of wall! Thanks all!

You have to put your postcode in this bit of the national grid website and they will tell you who is responsible for connections in your area. It is not necessarily your supplier. Then you contact this company to move your meter. You can't get anyone other than them to do it - total monopoly hence the price.
