  1. Jane I live in se22 and after a number of quotes used Otovo. Most reasonable by far and great customer service. You’ll get a discount of £100 if you use this link https://www.otovo.co.uk/r/pdhj1wjxr8bbmlmwkdxrd4x7pmwvpmlr
  2. Got one for £2000. I only take cash!!!
  3. With this product https://www.soundproofingstore.co.uk/soundboard-4
  4. Hi I’ve done sound insulation between my neighbour on a party wall. It’s not 100%, but huge difference. Doing ceilings is a much more challenging piece of work. There’s a great video in attached link on how to achieve this https://www.soundproofingstore.co.uk/ceilings?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAh8OtBhCQARIsAIkWb6-sTFWJ7Qu698ObcGxfLzdT08BcKH0ZE7GxEnSR3FrT9MeX71CoP1saAltfEALw_wcB
  5. My small gripe with Barry Road is that the council never clears the leaves in autumn of the pavements. As a jogger I’ve had a few accidents slipping. I now avoid running down the road. First world problem I know!
  6. LTNs and other traffic reduction schemes are supported by American billionaires providing grants to all forms of eco lobby groups. Southwark is part of a national lobby group UK100. Don’t see Dulres asking where they get their money from? https://www.uk100.org/
  7. The article is basically what was reported last year on the BBC. No change, in fact it may be worse. The Post Office use any old excuse! https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-63780196.amp
  8. I talked to a reporter from Southwark News. Seems Helen Hayes will speak to the Royal Mail again…. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/east-dulwich-residents-say-postal-service-is-still-bad-despite-royal-mail-taking-on-more-staff/
  9. Article in Southwark News about the LTN https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/disabled-dulwich-village-pensioners-say-ltn-has-spoiled-their-lives/
  10. Mustn’t have been non alcoholic Guinness if he can’t remember!
  11. It’s a fallacy that only ‘rich’ people drive
  12. At one point I was in favour of a CPZ in my area near Peckham Rye Park. Lots of cars from the Goose green side of East Dulwich Road (including the businesses) park on my street due to the CPZ in operation. However with this latest rate rise I just see it as the cash cow that Southwark love to milk. It maybe a 100% increase this year, but they’ll keep increasing it massively year on year. There will be a huge divide between those who have drives (mostly those who live in dulwich village with their LTN) and the rest of us who can’t afford to park a car out on the street.
  13. I just had 5 panels and a 6.5kw battery installed by a new UK wide company called Otovo. They’re a Norwegian company and I’ve been very impressed with how the install went. Firstly good communication, secondly you don’t have to pay anything until work completed, finally the price was at least a third cheaper than anyone else quoted. I paid just over £7k, and an an additional £500 to the sub contracted installer to add bird mesh (who was v good). I would give the whole experience 5 stars. If you use this link, you’ll get £100 if you proceed with the install. https://www.otovo.co.uk/r/pdhj1wjxr8bbmlmwkdxrd4x7pmwvpmlr I’ll also get £100, and would be then happy to show you the install, and discuss how you can maximise your energy generation.
  14. I never post on this site, but find your contribution Malambu at most times annoying, and many times trolling. Here’s a link to research that show’s aspects of your ignorance…. https://ca1-eci.edcdn.com/reports/Gas-boilers-and-NOx-the-hidden-emitter.pdf?v=1633898830
  15. While we are at demonising wood burners, let’s get Southwark Council to enter every kitchen and cut off the gas hob. As recent media and research has indicated…… If you cook with a gas hob, Dr Mosley recommends taking action to prevent dangerous emissions from entering your body. He says: "Cooking with gas and gas boilers produces PM2.5s... the 2.5 relates to the particle size, so these have diameters 2.5 micrometres or smaller (a human hair is about 70 micrometres)."
  16. Interesting bit of research mentioned in Times today The think tank Onward has created the first ever “trust map” of the country, revealing at a granular level those places where trust among communities are at their highest and lowest levels. The research, which has been presented to the levelling-up secretary Michael Gove, used the Office of National Statistics’ standardised question on trust. This asks people on a scale of one to five whether “generally speaking, people can be trusted or that you can’t be too careful in dealing with people?” Compared to the national median, East Dulwich not doing too badly. Residents of Dulwich Village and Herne Hill seem more trusting. Interestingly, East Dulwich low on carefulness.
  17. I have the myenergi Eddi which is good. During summer months you don’t have to use gas to heat your water (if you have an immersion tank). With all these things it’s not all about saving money, but trying to be self sufficient and eco.
  18. With East or West facing panels you get about 75% of south facing - so it’s still worth it. North facing only about 50% so ROI is harder to achieve. With kWh of electric now 50p and likely to increase even further, panels at the back of your property do make good financial sense.
  19. It?s not just Dulwich going through these political travails https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/apr/22/will-local-elections-put-the-brakes-on-low-traffic-neighbourhood-schemes
  20. Hi Ian/Duncan haven?t done anything as detailed as you note. The reason I got worked up about it was my 14 year old son had an incident recently coming back from school on his bicycle. Thankfully him and his friend pulled up near some adults and the thugs decided it wasn?t worth it. Reading the article in the Sunday Times yesterday where grown men were being badly beaten up for their bicycles just made the memory resurface. You?re right that the petition needs lots of work. The petition probably needs more traction if it hits 100 signatures, and changeorg might take an interest in promoting it.
  21. Living in East Dulwich and London, the level of bicycle crime is shocking. Whether it is being worried about you child having their bicycle stolen or leaving a bicycle outside your home, we all know that crimes happen. I read today an article in the Sunday Times that made me realise that the government and the Police are helpless in doing anything about it. I?ve set up a petition to at least make criminals think twice, as all bicycles should be registered on Bicycle Register (https://www.bikeregister.com) which is free. Please sign the petition, and if you want to be involved please pm me. Please sign here on changeorg https://chng.it/ydCbyF7q
  22. Spartacus agree with your sentiment. Just back from a few days in Amsterdam and loved the cycling, but didn?t come across any closed roads like the nonsense in ED.
  23. That YouTube of Cll Hamvas was painful to watch. Hopefully she extracted whatever was in her mouth:(
  24. Having been knocked down and badly injured on a zebra crossing near Peckham Rye Park last year, I just can?t believe how stupid these new Highway Code rules are. I?ll be interested to see the national statistics on RTAs next year.
  25. James, the communal bins just off Oakhurst Grove at Greenview Court are always a disgrace. I assume some of the residents just think you can dump any old rubbish outside these bins (eg mattresses, old furniture, etc). This rubbish spills out onto Oakhurst Grove and takes ages for it to be cleared. When I walk past you also see people going through the bins looking for whatever and throwing the rubbish from the main bins on the ground. This bin area needs to be gated off from Oakhurst Grove, and maybe a camera to stop any residents from dumping.
