  1. Rachp did you not know Peppa?s father was a capitalist pig working in the city? Thankfully that day he was working from home, sending a few emails to destroy the proletariat!
  2. Interesting recent article by Cllr Mc Ash about the right to work from home for all workers. See https://novaramedia.com/2020/05/15/the-right-to-work-from-home-should-be-a-demand-far-beyond-the-pandemic/ Although I agree with some aspects of it, much I do not. Why would I live in East Dulwich, when I could buy a castle in Scotland for the price of a flat around here!🤓
  3. Not that I?m much of a daily mail reader, but a google map graphic of congestion in London today at 8.30am shows that dulwich seems to be one of the worst affected areas in London for congestion. See https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8693455/New-cycle-friendly-road-blocks-stop-paramedics-reaching-patient.html Maybe Southwark Council are turning Dulwich into a car park?
  4. Fully agree with the aims of One Dulwich. When the schools go back in September, the closure of this junction will create massive tailbacks and worse traffic conditions in lots of local areas. The original junction was upgraded at huge expense 18 months ago, and actually made it worse. The alleged improved cyclist lane is a major danger to cyclists, as they can?t access it due to the way junction laid out. Basically the only way now to travel from east to west dulwich is via the south circular. As someone who walks, cycles and drives, there are so many ways I would love to see cycling provision improved. This hair brained arbitrary decision by the council must be stopped.
  5. Definitely is the same van! One van crime wave!!!
  6. Hi, our neighbours on Kelmore Grove had all their window boxes stolen this evening at 6.40pm. I have a Nest camera and managed to capture a few images of the white van who did it. I shared them with my neighbour for any police report. Notice the time stamp - didn?t capture them in the act or their registration plate- but keep an eye out for this van!
  7. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
  8. That?s the thing about CPZs. You live on a street with bad parking and think a CPZ will sort it out. I lived in Brixton 15 years ago near the park and due to parking voted for the CPZ. I regretted it once it came into force. Parking for some reason didn?t really improve. However it caused a nightmare when someone came to visit. Even when I was moving to east dulwich 15 years ago, I remember the parking wardens hovering around the removal van waiting to ticket. I was told to go to the council office - what a joke!! Never agree to a CPZ!!!!
  9. You?re overreacting :) On our street on Kelmore Grove, one guy who doesn?t even live on the street (lives in Catford) has 3 vehicles parked. A large van, and 2-3 cars. All taxed as I?ve checked myself! People who leave vehicles on your street have every legal right to do so. Unfortunately it?s probably linked to CPZs in other areas, and it?s the gradual parking control creep across London.
  10. Car broken into again last night....found a ?2 coin on seat! Hopefully next time they might drop a tenner!! :)
  11. Visit the local Citizens advice bureau: 97 Peckham High Street London SE15 5RS England
  12. It?s an Audi. I realised the wife was leaving her car key in a handbag near the front door. Stopped! :)
  13. Live on Kelmore Grove and someone keeps getting past security on my car and emptying any contents on seats. Thankfully nothing of value is in the car, as they cleared it of some valuables during the summer. Anyone else in the area having the same issue?
  14. A good Dutch coffee shop, selling a variety of delicious cannabis cakes and spliffs.
  15. They should make it a ? shop! It would complement all the charity shops on the Lane!
  16. Good website about pollution on your street with an option to petition Southwark. My street near the park was a 3 - not great! www.addresspollution.org
  17. Hi I started this thread as I have subsidence in one corner of my house (which is on the outside wall as well). I have found a company on the internet (Geobear) which uses foam under the area affected. Am waiting for their site visit to provide a quote. From what ive read they?re not cheap. One advantage of this company is that you do not have to declare this to your insurance if you go private. I?ll let you know how I get on.
  18. Is anyone having bad subsidence compared to other years? We have developed huge cracks in a number of walls, and I was wondering if this is specific to my house, or more general in the East Dulwich area due to all the hot weather.
  19. Here?s a message I got from Heathrow. I too find the noise intolerable, and when you examine noise levels in Camberwell they are the same as those in the areas where noise insulation grants are available Dear xxx Thank you for contacting Heathrow regarding noise insulation. We are sorry to hear you have been disturbed by Heathrow?s operations. Please be advised that your property is not currently eligible for assistance as it does not fall within either The LHR 2004/2005 Night Restrictions Contour; or The LHR 1994 Day Noise Insulation Scheme Boundary. Whilst I am certain this will come as disappointing news to you, the schemes are applied in a fair and constant manner to all local residents. We are therefore unable to make exceptions to properties that do not fall within the agreed boundaries. If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to put them to me. Otherwise, please visit www.heathrow.com/noise for more information. Alternatively, if you would like to log a complaint concerning noise disturbances you are experiencing in your home you are able to do so by emailing [email protected] or by calling the team on 0800 344 844. 20. On Gilkes Crescent yesterday boys were held up with knives! A local parent took photos. Where are the police?
  21. The council spends a lot of time looking at traffic measure such as CPZs and healthy streets. However, I think the problem is not just about too many cars, but healthy streets should be safe streets! East Dulwich residents should expect to live without fear of crime. How can we expect children to be safe walking to school, when there is such an epidemic of mugging children on the streets or in the parks. Parents will just end up driving their children to and from school. What is the council doing about that - nothing!
