  1. So bus stops stick out into the road and cause all other vehicles a mobile obstruction it?s not good enough that they have their own dedicated lanes and traffic lights phased to allow buses through whilst causing tail backs for other vehicles. TFL has complete control over the roads of London. All the millions of bus users and those delightfully careful bus drivers who are not content with having traffic lights, their own lanes and stops which mean they don?t need to turn the steering wheel for anything other than turning a corner ? The balance of power has gone too far in the direction of TFL ?. Only if you're being sarcastic Fred! It was a great experiment and it works fine from 7am to 10am and 4 pm to 7pm Is there really any justification for all the 24hr bus lanes why can?t busses just pull into the curb to collect passengers????? Woolworth road is a joke Peckham Rye is a Joke ?. The No entry sign at Peckham Rye has been replaced with a confusing blue circular sign? Is it to confuse non locals? Ever since TFL have taken over our roads, traffic has got out of control. Yes I agree with frazer71, what he says make sense, but not to TFL or our Gov and Councils. Whoever makes these decisions obviously does not drive around London if they did they would see the stupid mistakes that are made in favour of TFL. They will never get people out of their cars and into Public transport, as KalamityKel says" If you were the one stuck on a packed boiling hot bus in solid traffic you wouldn?t see it in the same light." Standing traffic causes more pollution than moving traffic. TFL, Gov and Councils, there only aim is to make Money of the back of the Motorist.
  2. There is more congestion in Lordship Lane, Than there every has been. Try getting out of Ahbourne Grove in the Morning.I have lived here for over fourty years And it has never been as bad. I am sure who ever decide these Changes in the Council has not got a clue.
  3. Hi James, It's the 2nd accident that I have seen in the last three weeks, and numerouse other times over the past ten years, it won't be long befor there is a fatality there. And that is at the junction of colewel Road and Lordship Lane and Pellat Road. Perhaps you could persuade the council to make Colewel and Pellat road into one ways from lordship lane.It wil stop all the accidents on that dangerous bend.

  5. According to the staff in Iceland?s, they have been given there notices to leave, And been told that MS will go ahead no matter what Consultations go on, that?s what?s going to happen. Like all the other applications that should not have gone through, the money will always talk. That why "I ask what is the point of the petition" when we already know the outcome.
  6. Hi James. What was the point of the petition on Icelands When they have already decided that it's going to be a MS With more flats, with no where to park their cars.
  7. Hi James, Thank you for your reply. Most of the residents in Ashbourne Grove would like to appeal against the decision of the LSC. They feel that they have been walked all over and ignored at the expense of profit for businesses. I would think that a lot of other people in the area would think the same, can we not put out feelers as to the extent of the local residents feelings, and act accordingly, as these laws are defiantly against the interest of residents and local businesses. Especially as these bars are attracting people from outside of the area. As for the road changed in Forest hill etc, is there a link to the planes that we can see. Regards Fred Ricketts
  8. Hi James, Thanking you for your very good work at the LSC, a lot of residents down here , feel they have been let down by the LSC, and the licence for Sundays following Bank holidays to 2am should not have been granted, I personally feel and I would think most of the residents in Ashbourne Grove and elsewhere feel, that our voices where poured on deaf ears, like the licence before, it should never have been issued, had this been in a Magistrates Court, I am sure it would never have been granted, It?s done now, and I think that we know have to try and make enough noise as to try and get these Bad Licensing laws back in front of the Magistrates who have the legal knowledge to see the point of view of residents having to put up with unsocial behaviour and binge drinking. Once again James thank you for doing you?re very best for the residents of Ashbourne Grove and neighbouring area.
  9. Hi James, Thank you for attachment regards the Adventure Bar licensing hours. I will try and make the LSC meeting. I objected to the hours in 2009 and my objection was refused, as Mr J Mitchell will tell you as I corresponded with him at the time. I also objected this time and my objection was not put through once again, because Mr Dorcas Mills thought that I was only asking for a link to the documents from the LSC, which was not the case, therefore my objections have not been documented. We in Ashbourne Grove cannot understand how this licence was granted when the LSC knew that two sixteen year old girls were served Cocktails in this bar why were they not prosecuted like any other retail outlet. Also the designated licence holder lives in Hounslow, and said ?he only visits the bar once or twice a week?. How on earth did the LSC allow a licence in the first place?
  10. Dear James, I and some local residents are a little bit confused as to when the Adventure bar was issued an extension of hours from 1oclock to 2 o?clock Friday and Saturday, as most of the papers that we have had from the licensing department show that they had refused these extended hours. They say that there licence was issued on the 13th August 2009, this is when we objected to it, and it was found that two 16 year old girls were let into the bar and served alcohol. On the 20th November 2009, 28th November 2009 they applied for a temporary event notice to extend their hours from 00.00 to 02.00 hours, on a Saturday night. Why did they do this if they already had a 02.00 licence which was issued on the 13th August 2009? Could you please try and find out exactly when this 2oclock licence was approved.
  11. People who buy property in built up areas of shops > restauraunts bars ect should exspect a level of > noise it's common sense. This was the reason I > never wanted to live on lordship lane. Get a grip. It looks like that the changes by Tessa Jowell were rushed through in a couple of months, not giving any time for residents to complain, about the 2 o?clock licence, which ,it looks like had no objections, because no one knew about it. Yet in 2009 most of Ashbourne Grove objected to an increase in licensing hours. Talk about go through the back door.
  12. Thank you james, Perhaps you could let me know the next opening day. Should be intersting.
  13. If I had enough time I would have got a petition up against it. It was only by chance that I found out about the change The last licence for two o?clock was pushed through without anyone knowing about it, there was allot of people against the last application for a one clock licence, and we thought that we had won that one, but now it appears they have this two o?clock licence and no one knew about it, there should have been some consultation on this, but as usual the powers to be know better than the residents, What a load Bo ***ks we have to put up with from these so called Politicians.
  14. Hi northlondoner, Hmmm, the change in licensing legislation led to a big increase in licensing hours, 500% increase in emergency admissions for alcohol related problems. So your friend may have a bunch of crazy residents being vexatious. OR a bunch of residents who came before the licensing changes and don't want people throwing up, staggering around and waking the kids up by loud talking/shouting in their streets. Really depends on the precise circumstances. Residents close to this premise are telling us it?s already causing them problems. I've seen some of the problems so have objected. IF they had solved the repeatedly reported problems and acted with more consideration of other their neighbors then of course I wouldn?t have objected and not would others. James is RIGHT Its people from all over London, that comes to these Bars, in Lordship Lane that are causing the problems. And it?s the local residents that have to put up with their unsocial able behavior at 2 and 3 o?clock in the morning, if you are going to have bars, put them out of residential areas and let residents live in peace and quite as you want to. And thank you James for sticking up for the residents, we appreciate it.
  15. This is one of the reasons we have a lost generation. Why most of the under 24s are all out of work.
  16. The schools have not been any better in the last 40 years I had the same trouble with my children in the 1960s
  17. Posted by: fredricketts Today, 12:41PM Hi James, Thank you for your reply, I was thinking more on the lines of Getting a noxious piece of legislation changed, so residents can have more direct Knowledge and information as to what is happening in their ares. Like petitioning T Jowel or who ever. What ever it takes.

  19. I agree it?s good for the kids, and I don?t begrudge them, but that is an awful lot of money, when the disabled facilities are being cut back
  20. Hi James Barber Is there anything we can do to change this? As at the moment, residents do not have any say in this matter. Before we were informed of any changes, now we have to rely on someone seeing the notice in the bars window, which I think is unfair on residents that have to put up with this unsocialable behaviour late at night. And surely this cannot be right.
  21. Tessa's licensing law moved the previous presumption of the applicant from needing to prove a licence or licence change wouldn't cause harm to objectors proving it would cause harm. It was a huge change and has since seen huge step increase in alcohol emergency ambulance and A&E calls. It appears to have kick started the binge drinking culture and not continental southern Europe cafe culture hoped for. Unlikely we'll get the tory part of the coalition to agree to new more restrictive licensing laws as big business wouldn't like that - and that suits the more Liberals element of the Lib Dems. We have a bad law aimed at benefiting businesses at the expense of civil society - but apart from that I hold no views on the subject. Back to Freds concern about Adventure bar enxtensing it opening to 2am Thursday and bank holiday. Email [email protected] if you wish to object or support it. The legally valid reasons to object are: - The prevention of crime and disorder - Public Safety - The prevention of public nuisance - The protection of children from harm Hi James Barber Is there anything we can do to change this? As at the moment, residents do not have any say in this matter. Before we were informed of any changes, now we have to rely on someone seeing the notice in the bars window, which I think is unfair on residents that have to put up with this unsocialable behaviour late at night. 22. If we all write to Tessa Jowell at the following email, we might get some answers as to how these bar get away with extending their hours without us knowing. [email protected] I have lived here longer than the Bars have been around, and I have no intension of being pushed out through rowdy people coming out of bars that should not have been given licences in the first place. As I have said before, you cannot trust any politicians, they all liars and work for their own ends, promise the earth to get in, and produce nothing, but what suite them best. Its disgusting that these bars have obtained licences, through what I call the back door, stick a piece of paper in their window, so you have to be passing their bars to notice it. If you are old and don?t go out much, no chance of knowing what?s happing in your area, and you get stuck with a load a S**T in your streets. We have people coming out of these bars at 2 to 2.30am Pi****g and Sh****G up and down the road, last year one of my neighbours had a brick through her window and I had drinks chuck all over my car which stained the paint work. This is what the Gov and Council expect rate payer to put up with. Money before people. [email protected]
