It wasn't just that he had a poor season. I think player power added to it too. They wanted him out or they were gone. Mind you some of them may well be gone if the owners don't pull their finger out and get someone in PDQ.

If any Liverpool fans watched Aston Villa at all last season they'd run a mile at the thought of Martin O'Neill taking over at Liverpool. Dull, cautious boring football. Bit like Rafa really. I think your best bet is someone with plenty of experience, Hodgson immediately springs to mind as he is flavour of the month but even better would be Gus Hiddink.

Ugh! I fecking hate litterbugs. They really annoy me. I was at a bus stop in Lewisham recently (where there are bins aplenty) and a few teenagers started dropping their drink cans and crisp packets to the ground so I said: "Oi! There's a bin right there, why don't you use it instead of dropping all your crap on the floor." To my amazement they picked everything up and binned it. Wonders will never cease. Another thing is why oh why are people still allowed to continue to eat their smelly food on public transport? Isn't it time this was banned? Just the smell of rancid half eaten old chicken bones and chips and whatnot that is left on the floor makes me want to hurl.

I don't think it's just about the owners, though they have been a big factor in Liverpool's current plight. I think Rafa Benitez had lost the dressing room. When players like Gerrard, Torres, Carragher, Mascherano and Benayoun have publicly displayed a lack of faith in the manager hinting that they may move on if he stays and because of his cautious approach in his style of play leading to frankly boring and unnattractive football and finishing outside of the Champions League places his position becomes untenable. I think it was Jose Mourinho who said last year that if Rafa had been at any other big club in Europe with the results he was getting he'd have been sacked a long time ago.
