  2. Anyone got an offer for Newstead Wood today? Looking for potential friends/travel buddies
  3. I made a complaint this week to Cosmur and they came back to me very quickly too with a similar response. James you were CCed in so you have it too. I really think that everyone here should complain to them, if they see any bad parking, obstructions, sand oveflowing the pavement or just feel deeply annoyed that the junction is such a nightmare. It really helps the case and will keep them on their toes.
  4. Saw SuperBob on Monday at EDPH it was great. It is now on at Peckham Plex too til next week on Friday so do go an give it some support: scroll down the what's on page here and you'll see it http://www.peckhamplex.com/films-out-now/
  5. Oh it would be so nice if there was a local girls only team. You could give it a try?
  6. I would like to second the recommendation for McCann roofing. They did a very good job and were very efficient replacing the tiles on the front part of our roof.
  7. My experience was the reverse of yours 'Fluffy'. Aaron worked for a very reasonable rate in my opinion. Lower than the other two quotes I had in fact. He worked on a day rate. The work he did was of a high standard. I highly recommend him.
  8. My daughter really enjoyed cubs on Mondays at the tenant's asooc hall opposite Peckham Rye, Straker's road/ It was about 60:40 Boys:girls and there is loads of running around as well as the crafty stuff. They have had camps up at Dulwich wood which she loved too.
  9. Humax are very good in my opinion. My current one is the Humax YouView DTR T1010 500Gb. Very easy to use. You can use a iphone or android app to send it recordings. It also has access to iplayer and many other catchup services. Only restriction on this though is that it does not have built in WIFI and has to connect directly to your router or use PowerLine sockets which is an extra cost. In all everything cost about ?260. Overall very happy with it
  10. I'm sure the guys from Conway are doing it just to annoy the cyclists, right? Or maybe some cyclists are so arrogant they think they're above it all. The building work is making the route through narrow for both cyclists and pedestrians. It's frustrating for pedestrians to give way to the cyclists. Safety.!!! Just get off your bike and walk it. It will only cost you 30 seconds. But that said I agree with AnotherPaul, Conway get a move on with fixing the bridge.
  11. Hen dos aside just wanted to flag up that Bugsy Malone is on for free in Nunhead tomorrow eve: http://www.freefilmfestivals.org/whats-on/details/105-bugsy-malone-outdoors.html
  12. A year 6 child is 10-11 and they are allowed to leave school without an adult IE walk home alone. I am all for the school telling kids what to do about strangers and knowing about risk. But sending all the parents (of which I am one) this text with such dramatic wording was misguided and unnecessary. As far as I know no other school in the area did the same thing. I would be very interested to know what the police or Southwark council would have advised them to do in this situation.
  13. There is a local lady who makes her own. it's lovely stuff check this thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,892951
  14. Near to Dulwich Tandoori on Lordship Lane yesterday there were three coffee jars filled with yellow liquid. Any relation?
  15. Don't know if you have a photo of it, but do you think it might be worth posting one on here. You never know. The more eyes looking the better.
  16. ladywotlunches: Off the subject I know but I am very interested in the map of the bomb destruction in the war. Where would I be able to see it?
  17. I have been cycling this route to work all through the summer, but now that it is dark on my return this part of the journey does make me nervous. It is particularly dark just there and having to go between the barriers does make you slow down, losing the reassuring sense that someone wouldn't stop you if you are travelling at speed. When I was mugged on my bicycle it was at a point where I had to slow right down. This was many years ago, but the thought never really leaves you. I know the anger you feel after an incident like this. Since reading this post I've decided to divert and go further down Dunton Road and pick up Mandela Way. The only donwside to doing this is the wait at the traffic lights. but at least it is more populated and better lit.
  18. I think I would have problems pushing a pram through the streets of East Dulwich. There just is no room. Perhaps we could solve more problems by narrowing the roads and therefore widening the pavements. Then there would be no room for the 4x4s to drive on the roads.
  19. Thank you all. I think we'll go for the Vauxhall Bridge route tonight. Another way we find ourselves needing to get to sometimes is to A3/M3. Any suggestions on this one? We usually go round the south circular but always get stuck in Wandsworth.
  20. Mrs Spooniferous, baby spoons and I will be trying to extricate ourselves from the clutches of London for the weekend. Everytime we try and leave ED by car it is a nightmare unless we leave late at night. Mad fools that we are we are going to leave on a Friday night. For this specific trip we are going to try and get to the M4. Anyone have a preferred route that avoids the major conjestion areas?
  21. Careful Bony, the sound is hard to trace. One second its in front of you the next it's to the left and then behind you. It's like someone is driving around with a loud bangy thing attached to the back of their car. Maybe if we could organise a team to come at it from different directions, banging load things. Then it'll know what it feels like. Or at least it might get scared and stop.
  22. What is the name of the book? I wouldn't mind giving it a read.
  23. Does anyone know where that banging noise is coming from? It starts at about 8 in the morning. I ask purely out of idle interest rather than irritation. The sound bounces around the terraced housing and as I walk to work it seems to come from all directions. I'm hoping it's not just in my head.
  24. All the street name signs in the area have been replaced. My simple question is why? What was wrong with the old ones? I think it all happened last summer but my unobservant self has only just noticed the extent of the replacement. It's especially noticable on the walls of painted houses that have the signs attached. There is now an unpainted patch due to the new signs being a different shape.
