When done right, that kind of football can be devastating (as evidenced by the rest of the season from Bayern leading up to the semi final and the best part of a decade at Barca). I suspect Gotze will become increasingly important to Bayern next season and Lewandowski will be an important signing.

Bayern Munich v Real Madrid Pt.2 tonight. Am excited about this one. Apparently Bayern had 290,000 applications for the 25,000 non season tickets places tonight.

Are they harming you or anyone else? If not, why not let them be?

The piece also suggests that technological innovation is too slow. Technology is evolving faster than ever before in reality. "Put crudely, if growth is high and the returns on capital can be suppressed, you can have a more equal capitalism. But, says Piketty, a repeat of the Keynesian era is unlikely: labour is too weak, technological innovation too slow, the global power of capital too great. In addition, the legitimacy of this unequal system is high: because it has found ways to spread the wealth down to the managerial class in a way the early 19th century did not."

This thread has just taken a turn for the LOL. As EP and Jeremy have alluded to, benchmarks tend to be well conceived enough that it's unusual for the Fund Manager to consistently ourperform them; but, the better fund managers do earn their salt by outperforming a sensibly chosen benchmark. Risk management in a fund and mitigating risks when markets take a turn for the worse is just as important. Which essentially is still outperforming a benchmark, but rather making less losses, instead of more gains. ZT- it's not disagreeing with you for the sake of doing so; it's disagreeing with you because you don't seem to understand the fundamentals.

"dress, eat, and espouse opinions to reflect what makes up you" you'll have to explain that to me- i'm afraid i have no idea what it means! :-) Does it mean that if you like eating burgers, souvlaki and pinxtos from street food sellers; enjoy wearing slim jeans rolled up at the bottom and cycling round London and enjoy drinking craft beers- then it's ok? If you don't, it's not?

SHOCK! HORROR! Man City and PSG fall foul of FFP and face sanctions. Interesting to see what the spineless, gutless, chinless wonders at UEFA come up with. You can bet your bollocks that if a club in Paris wasn't involved, then the sanctions would be greater. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27198306

"At 14 is to be encouraged, at 24 its to be tolerated, in your 30s...seriously, grow up. It's the older ones that really annoy. " why?

A hipster is surely just a member of the most recent fashion tribe, no?

What's wrong with that? So he doesn't know much about the club. He paid his money, found out a few facts and then got behind the team. Should he study the history hard before singing and screaming? It's attitudes like that that would stop new people wanting to come

Thanks :-) There has been SO much good music released so far this year. At the moment listening to the new Woods album (liking this band more and more with every release) and the latest Marissa Nadler album.

Giggs has two important advantages over Sherwood- been at the club all his life and would have the respect of everyone. Guardiola anyone?

If you think there's an attacking minded manager out there, with suitable experience and capability of taking us to the next level - wave your magic wand and point me in his direction

I'd take Rafa Benitez at Spurs in a heartbeat

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-weigh-up-gamble-on-david-moyes-9281480.html Be surprised if it happened, as he gambled with AVB after a bad spell with one club preceeded by a great spell with another. But,I'm sure if you looked back at most big manager's histories there would be a dodgy spell that they moved on from and got stronger. So i think it's a bit early to say that Moyes is doomed to fail in the rest of his career just because he couldn't follow in the footsteps of the greatest manager this country, possibly the world, has ever seen. The pressure on Moyes to succeed at United was horrendous, especially after being handpicked by Ferguson. There'd still be pressure on him if he came to Spurs, but a different kind. He'd have pressure to succeed where others have failed- a better kind of pressure I reckon. I'd call it as not a bad option.

Real Madrid v Bayern 81% possession for Bayern first half. Should be 3-0 Madrid. Fascinating football.

Can't blame them for the tactics tonight- as boring as it is to watch. They can cut loose too when they need to- which as a Spurs fan I have all too painfully seen with my own eyes. Arsenal fans the same. At the end of the day they were in an away semi- final to the team top of la liga.
