  1. Have now received confirmation that the fault is at Townley Road substation and they expect it to be repaired between 17:30 & 18:30.
  2. The power just went off and I am wondering if this is just my home or the whole area.
  3. I think the council's mobile, small appliances, recycling people will be in Sainsbury's car park on 3 Feb.
  4. Just got the attached in the post. They seem to have made a few minor changes since the previous design. On a slightly different subject, I notice that Dulwich Audi has close. Is this permanent and if so does anyone know what will replace it?
  5. Had the Dr. not saved Davros the Daleks would never have existed therefore when the Dr. came across Davros among the hand mines he would have saved him. The Daleks would then have existed .... this time travel thing can get very complicated if you think about it too much.

    BT Broadband

It's not working in Heber Road as well.
  7. I've been to see the Jaguars and I have to say they are lovely cars. Sadly, even if I won the lottery and could afford one I doubt that at 6' 2" and 13.5st I would fit in the driving seat.
  8. I thought they had the back doors open when they had a two person crew (ie had a conductor). When they operate with just a driver the back doors are closed to stop people getting on without paying.
  9. Very true KidKruger, I have amended the title.
  10. Some time ago I posted details of some gallantry awards made for rescue work after bombing in 1941. In the posts that followed some one found that some other police officers had received awards following the arrest of an armed man in Barry Road. The attached file is a copy of the recommendation for the awards in this case. Sorry it is a large jpeg but it was the only way I could make it a small enough file to post here. If you have trouble reading it I can post the pages as individual files on another site and give links to them.
  11. The story of the night of 27/12/40 continues. After the first three people received the George Medal a case was put forward for two bus conducters to received recognition for there bravery that night. These two got commendations. I have also attached the pages from the Met. Police diary for that night just for general interest. P division is where these events happened.
  12. I realised when I posted the original post that I had forgotten to check what awards had actually been given. nxjen posted the link which showerd both police officers got the Gearge Medal and I can confirm that Henry James Hicks also got a George Medal.
  13. I have recently been doing some indexing work at the National Archives and found this record of the rescue of people from bombed buildings on East Dulwich Road. The records are HO250 which are recommendations for gallantry awards for civilians.
  14. London Metropolitan Archives have posted a picture of students at Dulwich Hamlet School, 1907 asking for a caption. https://www.facebook.com/londonmetropolitanarchives?ref=stream&hc_location=stream Might be good if a Dulwich person could come up with a good caption but I can't think of anything!!
  15. I have done as nashol suggests and bent it back. There is a slight crease in the door pillar but as it is an old car anyway it won't make much difference. I'll find out the next time it rains whether it is water tight.
  16. Last night some nice person tried to get into my car by pulling on the top of the drivers door. They didn't actually get in, there is no sign that they did and there was nothing in the car, but they have bent the door so there is now a gap at the top. Does anyone know a garage locally that could fix this before it rains again.
  17. Have you tried http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/. You might find something on there.
  18. Looking at the way it's been removed I'd say it's stolen. How did they get it out of the park?
  19. I think the zones change at Goose Green. Heber Road is Zone 3.

    Real Ale

I've done some full mash brewing, with varying results. Trouble is if you wanted to sell it you would end up with food standards people and HMRC would probably want to take most of your money.. But if someone wants to invest in all the equipment I'd try to produce beer (as long as I can sample the results and drink more of it if it's any good.)
  21. I was about to take a picture of the empty sky to prove no helicopter and the damn things out there flying about.
  22. NatWest called me to tell me someone had tried to get cash in Canada. Transaction was rejected and my card has been cancelled. This is the second time this year, the first was in February when someone got cash in South Africa. This means they had the PIN as well. Now I always cover the keypad while putting in the number. Recent use of the card was at 2 supermarkets in ED (both beginning with S) Used another card to get cash from HSBC in LL so I'm worrying about that now.
  23. Correction to my previous post, it's William Hill not Ladbrooks on the old Co-Op sight. The following quote is from Peter Marks, CE of Co-Op, on their web sight. "For The Co-operative Group this is a transformational deal ? cementing our position as the UK?s premier community retailer and helping us significantly as we lead a renaissance of The Co-operative brand. Together, The Co-operative and Somerfield colleagues will be better placed than ever before to provide consumers with great choice, value and service." Does anyone else find this over the top corporate speak worrying or is it just me..
  24. There used to be a Co-Op on LL years ago, became the job centre and now Ladbrooks. All that's left is the pharmacy and the funeral directors (which doesn't show much faith in the pharmacy)
