  1. If you ask me, GGG are more fun, and horribly democratic.. But I would say that as I am the choir director...
  2. ah, fair enough. I didnt know that.. A lot of drummers like to use their own kit in my experience.. gives them an excuse to keep us all waiting....
  3. looks good thanks. No parking though by the looks.. bit of a downside for bands.. also charging extra for mics is a bit unusual.. anyway the rooms do look nice...
  4. This may be some sort of mid life crisis, but I am a professional ex touring, now teaching musician, who finds himself suddenly yearning to start his first ever garage band. I am looking for a drummer and bassist(I dont mind swapping this role with another guitarist) who don't mind singing too. Thinking Jam rather than Hendrix (not that theres anything wrong with him), Talking heads 77, Radiohead, The Shins, Police etc..... Happy to do a few a covers, but have lots of original songs and would be looking to Jam up some more, plus would welcome others' good originals.. Please dont be too busy (the London disease) to rehearse at least once a week. Scruffy and fun for sure, but I am looking for musicians of a reasonable standard I have played more acoustic than electric up to now, so I should then right mix of competent and scruffy too.. Thanks for reading All the best Dan

Scruffy and fun for sure, but I am looking for musicians of a reasonable standard Btw, I toured as a sax player, sometime singer..Not guitarist... Thanks for reading All the best Dan
  6. Hi. I teach quite a few folks around here and have recently started to run Uke and singing workshops at my studio in Deptford..Its a great and very easy instrument to learn.. We often get complete beginners leaving the workshop being able to play and sing 2 or 3 simple songs.. The details are here in case anyone fancies.. http://www.meetup.com/London-Ukulele-players/?scroll=true next one is this saturday at midday. All the best. Dan Maitland
  7. what time do you go on till and od you take late arrivals i work early sat mornings.. but could be there for about 11 30
  8. As the title says. I am a self employed musician/ mmusic teacher and lots of my work is in the early evenings and I often find myself yearning for the wide open fairways of a daytime, but am short of club bashing partners... I mostly play at beckenham but also a few other localish - cheapish places... I am about an 18 handicap so not too scary... Anyone looking for such illicit daytime tomfoolery, please let me know.. Cheers Dan
  9. I saw the big band sunday lunchtime at the ivyhouse and it was brilliant... different nig band every sunday
  10. I am a music teacher (sax guitar singing and songwriting) and also a writer I would be happy to add my tuppenyworth.. with a free lesson or edit...
  11. I am cool, as i play Golf and all golfers are by definition hip and cool. I am creative, as i regularly create a lot of mess in my flat and problems for myself in general... But I am not unfortunately a mum - as my name would suggest.. Also I already know this lovely lady as she is afianced to my good friend. So she doesn't really need to recruit me as a friend, as I am already completely sold on the package and can highly recommend!
  12. there are summer courses for the kids. i was teaching on one last week at the albany deptford. The kids were the excat demographic taht are rioting, and were lovely - respectful and hardworking and keen... Yoo know why and how they were there - mostly? parents who gave a f+++.
  13. dont get on at each other guys - I was just raising the idea - similar to the clapham guy... people should do what they think best
  14. thats a fair point. I am only rasing the issue - already had one lady ring me - I dont want to encourage people to wander around being heroes. I was just thinking that a road full of people is impossible to get down. Please dont mistake me for a brave man. I am discussing blocking not fighting. Its not feasible or advisable unless its a large number of us and if it becomes too much then we retreat and we did our best.
  15. So far not so impressed with the authorities in this.... But these are kids and we are adults this is where we live, isn't kit a bit craven to hide away in our houses while they burn the place down? There are only a hundred or so at most - if we block the main streets with enough citizens in peaceful obstruction they will have to go somewhere else.
  16. is anyone else thinking it would be a good idea for the grownups to gather on Lordship lane and Northcross rd tonight and stand in front of our friends' homes, shops and businesses?

  19. you are right I have just managed to re install ft from.co.uk - by disabling my anti virus
  20. it was definitely true for me that I could not get on as the update would not load. I then deleted my old version but couldnt download their software again on to my computer as it had a virus in it and norton blocked it. re taking out your bankroll, I would. But bear in mind it takes a week to clear so it would still be dependant upon them doing the work their end. I dont see a down side in trying. you can always reinvest later
