  1. Hi We are relocating to Kent (although the Flavour Kitchen will of course still remain a South-East London based business) and I have a small mountain of St Anthony's Primary school jumpers, ties etc (ages 4/5 to 8 years). Boys being boys they do have some wear and tear but they are going free if anyone is interested. We are actually moving tomorrow - so ideally a collection at some point tomorrow up to midday would be great. If not, I could arrange a drop-off of items in mid August when I am back at work. Please PM me if interested. Sinead
  2. My husband is on blood thinners for life - he used to be on warfarin and did all his regular testing at the haematology walk-in clinic in Kings. He used to get down there early (8.00am ish) to avoid queues. I would contact the reception there for info.
  3. I have 3 young boys - all mad about football and we have tried a few football clubs in the Dulwich area. All of them are great - but I really, really recommend APD run by James Mullane and his fantastic team of incredibly enthusiastic coaches at Dulwich College sports club every Friday from 6.30 to 8.00pm. James is incredibly passionate about football and is a complete natural with coaching children. He also coaches some of the youth teams at Millwall (as well as running after-school football clubs). The astro turf and facilities at Dulwich College are first class and match the coaching provided by APD. It works on a drop-in pay-as-you basis or you can also pay by term - so super flexible. If you have football keen boys or girls, you should really try it out. http://www.advanceplayerdevelopment.com/apd-centres.html
  4. Hi Morasmum I would try aupair world website as we found our absolutely fabulous au pair through it. Depending on how old your children are, I would definitely specify an older aupair and also do interviews through Skype. I believe aupair rates start around ?100.00 pw for 20 hours but we pay a lot more than that as ours works full-time and is basically a live-in nanny given the amount of responsibility she has. Best wishes
  5. Thank you Nylonmeals It was an absolute pleasure to cater for your party! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I have to add that the croquembouche from Boulangerie Jade looked and and tasted amazing! What a great idea! Very best wishes Sinead
  6. I really would go to A and E for a scan. My husband was misdiagnosed with his first DVT and in all three of them he didn't have any swelling. They should see you quickly.
  7. I really recommend you get it checked out at Kings AE ASAP (no need to go via GP). My husband has had 3 DVTs (the first one turned into a Pulmonary Embolism and was the result of a short flight from Ireland) and for each one the symptoms were just a dull pain in various parts of his leg (including the upper thigh), although I think he was limping with one of them too. Kings scan you very quickly and if a clot is found will start you on a course of heparin immediately to break the clot down before it can travel further in your body. It was all very straightforward treatment but it is important you get a diagnosis and treatment as quickly as possible if there is a clot.
  8. Hi I am looking for small business accountant recommendations. I like to use local based businesses where possible and as such is anyone able to point me in the right direction of someone in SE22 area who they really rate and who can help provide advice on VAT registration and how to manage my accounts much more efficiently. They need to be quite patient as due to my busy workload, there is a lot of organising to be done :) Many thanks - Sinead
  9. Hi all Just a reminder about our inaugural supper club in a couple of weeks time. Tickets already selling so please do visit grub club if you would like to come along. Really lovely food, beautifully presented and in a gorgeous and very unusual setting. 10. Hi all I am very pleased and excited :) to announce that two local catering companies - Salon and The Flavour Kitchen are joining forces to host a new fine dining supperclub in the gorgeous surroundings of Kingswood House in Gypsy Hill. For those of you not aware of this beautiful building - it is a late Victorian gem, once owned by the Bovril entrepreneur, John Lawson Johnston. Our supper club will be held in one the House's fabulous wood panelled rooms complete with grand stone fireplaces and colourful Victorian tapestries. We have designed our fine dining supper club menus to compliment the grand and stately surroundings in which it will be served, but of course with a few little twists....not to mention some brilliant light entertainment. The opening night is on the 3rd July and has a special launch price of ?38.50 for welcome cocktail, canap?s and four courses including amuse bouche. We hope to have a temporary license for the evening to sell wine. See more at: http://grubclub.com/kingswood-house-supper-club-kingswood-house-supper-club/1372 or PM me for more information. Best wishes, Sinead
  11. Oops - this was meant to be sent as a private message:). Apologies for cluttering up the forum! Hi I have a few knives which are in desperate need of sharpening and one of them has a knick so will also need shaving and sharpening. Are you able to do today? If so - what is your cost? Many thanks Sinead
  12. Hi Jelliebeanz I am a locally based caterer covering private and corporate events across London, including weddings and would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss your requirements and provide a quote. I can also arrange a tasting session (which is included in my wedding package if you choose to book with me). All my menus are done bespoke for clients, but you can view some sample menus and photos of my food on my website www.theflavourkitchen.co.uk. Best wishes, Sinead
  13. Huggers and her friend very kindly took some off me so my little bread mountain has shrunk a bit. Alas I have no freezer space at the moment and no time to make bread and butter pudding either - but thank you for the suggestions!
  14. Sadly the foodbank doesnt take bread. I will try the refuge place. Unfortunately, I am also really busy today with jobs so sadly cant make lots of small bread roll deliveries. Ideally looking for a good home for all or most of them!
  15. Just thought some more about this - does anyone know if there is a foodbank in ED which would be interested in them?
  16. Hi all My bread supplier over supplied me with lovely Bread Factory crusty rolls today and I have about 40 left over if anyone is interested in taking all or some of these free of charge? I would hate to throw them out but couldnt possibly eat them all myself :) They are quite large but really delicious and fresh. I am out and about today so I can deliver if you are within the Lordship lane area. Pls call or text on 07766820696. Sinead
  17. Hi all I am looking for an assistant chef/s to help out on a regular basis on various events across London. I have a small but growing catering company based in East Dulwich and I have just secured a contract to do regular weekly lunch meals for a media business in Shoreditch for which I require extra chef help with. I also have a number of events coming up (canape functions and private dining) which I need additional chef support for. If you are interested and have good relevant experience (with references), I would love to hear from you! Very relaxed, friendly working environment and competitive rates of pay! Many thanks, Sinead The Flavour Kitchen www.the-flavour-kitchen.com 07766 820 696 [email protected]
  18. Hi all I just want to add to this recommendation for Holly at Etoile Bakery. I contacted Holly as I needed to work with a cake maker on a number of catering jobs I am doing for clients (including a 21st birthday party in Kensington) and along the way booked her to do a cake for my son's 4th birthday party, as sadly my own work commitments meant I was too busy to make it myself. She is incredibly friendly and flexible and with literally only 24 hours notice from me to make a lizard themed cake for my son, delivered a fantastic cake which looked absolutely amazing and tasted fantastic. Really moist and chocolately. Holly is based quite locally in Clapham and is professionally trained at Le Cordon Bleu. Her prices are reasonable too. Please do give her a call if you need a cake made!
  19. Hi OD I am a bit late joining this thread but just in case you are still looking, I have a small catering company, The Flavour Kitchen, and I specialise in fine dining private dinner parties. I have a cordon bleu diploma gained from Tante Marie cooking school and I have considerable experience working for both private clients and for leading event caterers in London. My website is www.the-flavour-kitchen.com and I have recommendations on the EDF as well on NappyValleyNet if you would like to view (plus testimonials on my website). The EDF and NappyValleyNet testimonanials are easy to search for or I can send you the links. I have sample menus on my website - but I usually create bespoke menus for my clients and I can cook all types of cuisines. Pricing guidelines are on my website, but I am offering a 10% booking discount until the end of the year for EDF users. If you would like to discuss more - please do get in touch, Best wishes, Sinead The Flavour Kitchen www.the-flavour-kitchen.com [email protected] 7 Malfort Road London SE5 8DQ 07766820696
  20. Hi Zaraband I really recommend Gale & Hayes (http://www.galeandhayes.co.uk/) who are a very creative, young design partnership based locally in Forest Hill and really reasonably priced considering the high quality of work they do. They designed the website, logo and graphic art for my company and I couldn't be happier with what they produced for me. Sinead www.the-flavour-kitchen.com
  21. Thanks so much for the endorsement Pebs! I forgot to add in my original post that I am offering a launch special of 10% of all bookings if made by end of the year. This includes bookings to be made for next year. And if you would like party food delivered for the Christmas season (or indeed anytime), I offer a drop off/delivery service which is free of charge in the Dulwich area (hope ok to add this admin - thanks :)).
  22. Hi all I have just recently launched the website for my catering company, The Flavour Kitchen. I have a Cordon Bleu diploma gained from Tante Marie School of Cooking and have worked for a number of leading catering companies in London working at some very high-end venues in addition to doing my private work. My company can cater for all types of functions - private and corporate and I am passionate about using the best seasonal ingredients available. My website has some sample menus but I usually create bespoke menus for customers based on their personal tastes and the style of event. Here are some of the events we have catered for recently: - Fine dining dinner parties following classical, Modern European and Asian menus - Canape parties (we have just done a Whitstable themed office opening canap? party for 110) - Formal and informal buffets - BBQs We can also cater for specific diets such as gluten, wheat and dairy free as well as deliver children friendly menus. We are now taking bookings for the Christmas season and beyond, so would be delighted to hear from you! 23. Hi all I would like to wholeheartedly recommend a fantastic young design agency called Gale and Hayes (galeandhayes.co.uk) who are based just up the road in Forest Hill and with whom I have been working with on the brand and website design of my new catering company, The Flavour Kitchen. I have nothing but praise for the great quality of work they produced for me not to mention their extreme patience in what was a long and drawn out project due to my work commitments. After looking around a number of design agencies across London, I came across Gale and Hayes via the EDF and really liked their style. I had a short briefing meeting with them to explain what I wanted, and they delivered some fantastic logos which really summed up my brief to them. They then designed some business cards, stationary, menus, fliers, aprons and last but not least, my website - all of which I am really, really delighted with. Through my initial research, I can safely say that their pricing is also really competitive too based on the quality of work they deliver. Just to add, this is my first post on here as The Flavour Kitchen. I have posted under my personal account a little bit before (but not recently) and I don't have any connection with Gale and Hayes - except that I am very happy customer of theirs :) Best wishes, Sinead The Flavour Kitchen 7 Malfort Road London SE5 8DQ
