  1. Clockwork orange - trying to keep up here ,what is Jeremy right about ? Sorry ,not trying to imply he's wrong about anything just can't identify the point you're making .
  2. mancity - you need to comment on the planning application and make the point about development being carried out close to trees ,ask for a tree assesment to be carried out by the developer . I'd copy your concerns to Southwark's urban forester [email protected]. And Robin Crookshank Hilton who posts on here as rch is very helpful regarding all tree related matters .Plus she's an ex councillor and knows how Southwark works . If planning is granted it should have conditions attached detailing how the root zones will be protected .
  3. " what's to stop the owner just removing the trees before applying for planning? " - nothing ,they often do . " a member of public can request that a tree in someone else's garden have a TPO applied to it. " - again ,this is not at all uncommon . But I'd like to add that TPO's can be lifted so that developments can be built . But in those cases ,as MarkT has pointed out ,there are planning requirements that replacement trees are planted to mitigate the loss of the protected tree .
  4. Well...not if Southwark puts a TPO on them .
  5. Pugwash ,no you're not .It was so hot one summer that the tarmac in the Horniman recration ground paddling pool melted and my mother was beyond furious trying to get black tar off my and my brother's feet . But I think paddling pools are very expensive to maintain .Sadly .
  6. aah ,that's cheered me up !
  7. and the locals make you squeeze into the hedges so that you're the one whose car gets scratched !
  8. I think dontpanic has it exactly - well said .
  9. More need at Peckham Rye with all those steps if you ask me .
  10. I disagree that there has been no increase in traffic in Bellenden Rd - most of London has become more congested over the years and Bellenden Rd is no exception .It's recent rise in popularity has added to that effect . I remember reading a couple of years ago a "consultation " leaflet about changes to the one way system just beyond ( north ) that stretch so maybe the whole area needs looking at .
  11. before this gets moved into lost and found - give us some clues about likely whereabouts ?
  12. old police station site near Peckham Rye Station ????
  13. Minder - is it actually stated that the overflow parking ia at the NDTC .I can only see the statement " tennis court area " . The NDTC doesn't have any parking as far as I know .
  14. not the homepage ,the format of the emails .It's now difficult to tell/much less obvious which emails have been "read"/opened and there's this weird display in the sender display which refers now to the history of the email so it appears as " me ,me ..." I imagine I'll adapt ,it's more the not being able to control what I'm using .Another symptom of my advancing years ,sigh...
  15. I have a @btinternet.com email address . The account has upgraded itself ( or someone in the household has given it permission to upgrade ) and I would love to go back to the previous version . I can return to basic but that seems to lack a lot of features that I use - spellcheck ,inserting links . I've looked online at suggestions but they vary a great deal and seem complicated .I'm nervous that if I embark down the route of changing screen resoloutions etc that I'll mess up and cause further problems . Anyone help me ?
  16. I don't know the measurement but when the existing Charter school opened people living in the middle of Barry Rd failed to get in .It was a pretty small catchment area then and I rather suspect it will be the same for the new Charter .
  17. Seems no change in the last twenty years Molly . And the accusing response of " was it labelled ? " that was delivered to any enquiry used to drive me mad . It never seemed to occur to the powers that be that labelling wouldn't magically prevent a child from forgetting to collect a jumper taken off in the playground . Me ?Bitter ?
  18. Paul from Nunhead Ariels was very helpful to us and had some device which showed whether the fault was the signal or TV .Perhaps he could help ? 07983 306705
  19. agree about a button being pressed inadvertently on remote control - easily done . You're a kind friend to help her .
  20. Are you having trouble finding your post ? Click on your user name -in blue just below "Taking down an add " on this thread and all your posts will come up . Though is it this one http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,1495022,1495022#msg-1495022 ? When you get to your add ,click edit at bottom of post where it says "options" and add the word sold in the title .Or you can just delete the body of the post if you prefer .
  21. But if everyone added "I do not wish this to become a debate, this is just my opinion." at the end of their post and everyone else went along with it and thought " right ,no debate " it would be a strange forum wouldn't it ? " Forum = a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged." edited to say I wrote above thinking this was a thread in the General section . So guess I can understand that it's just a post for info to other parents .
  22. I think 113 at the final consultation is quite a lot actually . Wasn't the right hand turn off the table by that stage and many people gave up at that stage having got a significant change to the original plans . It was quite a complex set of plans /options and did require quite a commitment to wade through . That nos may not seem much but in terms of responses to applications is quite high .
  23. Yes Penguin I do realise that . I think it's a very poorly written and thought out document . Though I see more emphasis on exiting than entering in forward gear . It's conceivable that drivers reverse in isn't it ?
