  1. > both their votes have been counted, in Round 1 and Round 2. I suppose one way of answering this would be to say that, in this example, everyone has had a vote counted in both rounds one and two; and that in all cases everyone is given the opportunity of having a vote counted in every round.
  2. > I'm not getting into this again but there's as much evidence refuting the 'broken window effect' as there is in support of it. Any references please, hypothesis regardless?
  3. Try BT Find A Person (Rayment - London) at http://www.btexchanges.com/.
  4. Sofie Gr?b?l was on Woman's Hour this morning. The audio interview's available at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0100h4q . With Flash installed you can get to it directly as Chapter 1 at the bottom of the page. And series 3 starts shooting in August.
  5. You can get a lot of useful information from your modem-router's log, particularly the line stats and reported error rates. There's guidance available on getting and understanding these, such as this on the Kitz site.
  6. > IF somehow you've been trapped in a cultural bell jar. ... you'll probably be hoping for a small plastic version at the bottom of your breakfast cereal packet. If only Fayed had been able to hang on to Harrods. It's sad to think of their staff and clientele being deprived of it.
  7. It's important to compare like with like. There are two distinct broadband types: via the phone line (ADSL) and via dedicated broadband cable (which may also include broadband phone or TV in the package). Cable is inherently a lot more capable than ADSL. My understanding is that in ED Virgin (virginmedia.com) are the only available cable provider. But Virgin also provide an ADSL service (using the BT phone line), for which they sometimes use the name Virgin National. Check here for more information on availability of providers and services. My experience of Virgin National ADSL http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,595742,622835 isn't much better than the OP's current experience of BT. So I wouldn't recommend jumping as a guaranteed quick and easy solution. Though I do believe the Virgin 0845 helpline is UK-based.

Neither is your new user name. What other name(s) do you or have you posted as?
  9. > Enjoy the play and if it ever gets revived, DEF go and see it! A radio version, with Maggie Smith, turns up on Radio 4 from time to time. I think I remember once downloading it for personal listening.
  10. > Want to share a cab? I have my bike, thanks. Does anyone know where the guests' bike park will be?
  11. Here's a report of how Cambridge Police have been tackling the problem. Possibly less easily done in London. Does anyone know if there is any inter-division co-operation on targeting bike thefts, or any central Met unit that has any interest or responsibility?

The 'good' news is that you can get the moulds and make them yourself. http://www.chocomolds.com/CM757.html
  14. > I would like to congratulate everyone on this thread, who has actually bought shoes that are good enough to take to a cobbler. > Those horrible plastic rubber trainers, are trash, and ruined many a foot, smelly as well. How much ergonomic and physiological nous can one count on going into the making of bespoke shoes? I find myslf comfortable only in some trekking sandals and trainers, even cheap ones, and a very limited range of shoes, their common factor being that none has a noticeably raised heel. Could a bespoke cobbler be counted on to provide absolutely optimal comfort and efficiency? I'm not thinking of going to one, btw, just seeking clarity. I'm also thinking of the analytic apparatus that I gather some sports shoe shops have.
  15. > For instance, I sometimes see a guy riding up Dartmouth Road on a bike, smoking a fag and smiling. And thus was born the idea of the recumbent coffin bike, shortly followed by that of the camper coffin bike.
  16. > Check Gumtree to see if they have been listed The bikeshd site mentioned here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,568056,568599 looks very useful too.
  17. Would you be having this trouble if he were a dog? Maybe try applying the same skills? Clear firm communication that you don't like or want particular behaviours? You said: "I should feel safe walking to work, but no. I have to run past this place before these men whistle at me or shout vulgar things at me!" What specifically have they shouted?
  18. > Around half an hour later on gumtree an ad went up for my bike, a rather general description but it is quite a unique model. > On searching the mobile number on google I found four more adds for mid range racers. All rather 'general' and all using > 'brochure' rather than real pictures. I have informed the police and hoped (and still hope) for a sting operation. I might be wrong, but I can't imagine the police rushing into action (if at all) without a pretty good likelihood of its being your bike, and provably so. To satisfy the first point, I hope you were able to persuade them of the 'quite a unique model' bit, and that that's the one that's being advertised.
  19. > BUT.... please would someone teach the surgeons how to pronounce 'dissect'. It's really pissing me off. And it should be so easy: bisect, bisection, dissect, dissection. Unless you dissent. But then, remember when cervical and umbilical retained their short vowels and couldn't conceivably be rhymed with maniacal?
  20. You can ask the DVLA for details of the registered keeper. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/AdviceOnKeepingYourVehicle/DG_4022067
  21. > That's weird, I should be able to view jpegs OK, I'll try again. Save the 'gobbbledeook' files from your browser, using a .jpg extension. And you then get ...
  22. More likely than not; though could you rule out the possibility of a human simulation of one? Certainly less stressful than replying to real posters though. Actually, I'd been expecting Admin to pull the account, not just the taxi post.
  23. No I'm not!!!
  24. > What is your think !!! You registered here, "Real Name: online logo design", on 31/03/2011 11:28. Your first post, made at 11:36 and now removed, was as a follow-up to an offer of a local taxi service http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,646767. It read: "Owing to our domain expertise, we are engaged in providing airport car services. We have a large fleet of cars that are well maintained and also serviced on a regular basis in order to ensure quality and hassle free services to the clients. Our team of drivers is well trained and has good knowledge of all the routes that prevents the scope for any inconvenience. Our services are available at reasonable prices. Our Car Services provides our clients reliable, comfortable and timely pick up and drop services from IGI Delhi Airport. We provide these services with the consideration that our clients could reach their destinations in a hassle free manner." Its text is very similar to that appearing in several online pages advertising Indian taxi firms: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Owing+to+our+domain+expertise%2C+we+are+engaged+in+providing+airport+car+services&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8. It has a spurious relation to the thread topic, but is of little relevance to it. Both that 11:36 post and your 11:38 one above ended with a clickable link, labelled "online logo design", to a logo design business. My think is that your primary purpose in posting on this board was to advertise the business linked to as "online logo design".
