  1. Had a 1st class small parcel delivered to Overhill Road this morning, 11 days after it was posted (with proof-of-postage) and I'd been trying to find out it's location for last few days. Amazing that no-one is still not accountable, and it's been going on for 5 months? Avoid using Royal Mail.
  2. Terrible service. Went to Sylvester Rd because delivery card from last week didn't say it was closing. Still has Sylvester for missed collections. Went to Highshore Rd (4km from my flat); hand-scrawled sign said the desk wouldn't open at normal time due to staff issues. Waited 20 minutes listening to the whoops and shouts of staff inside, before folding. Complete joke what's happened to Royal Mail. Perhaps the government did get a good deal with the selloff, because I can't believe it'll be around much longer....

Blanket, Sign, Cup for cash, Dog. In the first three responses, not exactly feeling the love from ED. On the simplest level if there was adequate support for those in need, the pavements wouldn't have people asking for help, anyone on the streets would either be picked up by the services to see what help they might need or stand out as a scammer. Unless you know otherwise? Yes, there are professional beggars, acting aggressively over preferred spots, but the OP's q was re. feeling uncomfortable with the situation at M&S and the thread has descended into 'Professional beggars in ED'. I tried to give some alternative positive ways to respond, which - you'll notice - reduce the chances of being exploited and parting with cash if you aren't comfortable. As I say, it's only going to become a bigger issue (no joke intended) so buckle up. I'm out of here, good luck with the thread. I'll leave on M&S's slogan .....'Spend It Well'
  4. Have a heart guys, Crushing cuts and austerity measures (whatever tf that means....) means there's increasing levels of people in unfortunate circumstances and on the streets. Yes, that means it's more visible, even in cutesy Dulwich and yes, even outside of M&S, and - I've got more news - it's only going to get more apparent as public services are dismantled further. OP, if you do want to do something, you could ask if you can get the person anything while you're in the store (warning; this might lead to a conversation and you realising the person is human). If you want to assuage the guilt conveniently without having to converse, drop something into the Foodbank box, or give to a local hostel or charity directly. If you can't donate money or you'd rather not, get involved with campaigning for better support, volunteer, contact your Councillor, visit the surgery, write to an MP, anything. Just don't get involved with hateful stirrings on the internet :)
  5. Genuinely no point; wasn't signed-for/insured delivery, one attempted delivery before being sent to Sylvester Road, and I'd taken the parcel home before we noticed it had been opened. Even Sherlock wouldn't be able to figure out the point it had been opened. The company were kind enough to send another, which even asking for it not to be sent in such obvious packaging, sent it in the same box which you could hear/feel the necklace pendent inside ...this time (feeling rather awkward) I had not choice but to open it at the counter to check it was in there.
  6. Picked up a small parcel from Sylvester Rd a week ago for my gf. Only when I gave it to her did we realise it had been opened/resealed and the jewellery stolen from the box it was sent in. Fair enough they have a tough job being understaffed at this time of year, but this isn't going to endear themselves to customers!
  7. Happened to a few weeks back in Overhill Rd. My brother had borrowed my mum's car for the weekend, front and back plates taken overnight. They were personalised plates (nothing fancy, just a meaningful letters and numbers to my mother) on a Seat Ibiza, and easy to take off, so I wonder if they were just kids dicking around instead of ringers.
  8. Hi Mrs TP, I've sent you a PM with my details, hope this is of use.
