Local Mum to start Craft workshops in the area
Mariamadeit replied to ali13's topic in The Family Room Discussion
That's a great idea, I certainly became more crafty after having my children and subsequently set up my business, I think it's nice to have something at focuses on the parents too. -
Oo where are you moving to? Whatever you do, take lots of pics and make a scrapbook/photo album showing children pics really helps them remember the things the did/saw/experienced.

Yes she is part of Brit mums I think...

Blossoms Montessori or Rose House Montessori
Mariamadeit replied to kyaldron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son is at blossoms and my daughter will start in sept, it is a lovely nursery, they do Montessori the proper way and we couldn't be happier, for us the smallness and nurturing environment is key and the teachers do regular Montessori training, what accreditation were you looking for? If you would like to pm me specific questions, I would be happy to answer, I would not be sending my daughter if I didn't think it was excellent. -

swimming classes for babies
Mariamadeit replied to newto Dulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have been taking my daughter to waterbabies sessions, we go to the park plaza hotel at Westminster bridge but there are a number of pools around that they use, we love it and the bus ride is part of the day out. -
Getting pregnant while breastfeeding?
Mariamadeit replied to Iggy13's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We intentionally tried for a small age gap but it didn't happen (no periods) until we stopped bf at 13 months, fell pg next month then miscarried. Fortunately fell pg again not long after and I would say the reflexology I was having really helped with that. They do it at mothers inc if you are interested. It's different for everyone and there doesn't seem to be any rule of thumb, just go for it and see what happens. . -
Hello, I'm putting this here as I wasn't sure where might be most appropriate, I have been short listed for a crafting award and it is now down to a public vote, here is the link if anyone might want to vote... http://www.craftymagpie.co.uk/competitions/best-british-crafter/best-british-crafter-finalists/#.U3mxgdq9KSN thanks!

I just read the book and hubby read the visualisations during labour, obv it would be better to do a course to get all the ins and outs etc but it worked for me, twice, two smooth labours, no pain relief, both water births, one home one in a midwife led birth centre (in fact they didn't believe I was actually in labour when we turned up as I was "too calm" they wanted to send me home until I insisted they check... I was 8cm. For me it went well doing what we did.

School places offers day tomorrow
Mariamadeit replied to Mariamadeit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh absolutely praise to renata and James, but I think there are certainly issues within the CAF applications process, we have experienced issues with it and I know of several others who have too. If it wasn't for the Harris school we wouldn't have a school place in ed, we would have been happy with our sixth choice of Hollydale but that was the nearest school to us with a hope of getting in. I do think there are a number of "black spots" in ed that need addressing. -
School places offers day tomorrow
Mariamadeit replied to Mariamadeit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes me too, I declined online and wrote Harris in the box, I emailed (using the link in renata's post above) to explain and point out that I wasn't very impressed with the whole system. I got a three line response back saying thank you for your email, they will pass on info to the school... I just wonder how many school places are in this limbo of having been declined but not yet reoffered, there are lots of families waiting for a more acceptable offer and there is so much stress around the whole thing, I think the system could certainly be improved! -
Thinking about number three too, but transport... How do we all fit in a car, I have a 4 and 2 yo...?

School places offers day tomorrow
Mariamadeit replied to Mariamadeit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We declined our sixth offer place in favour of the Harris free school however this morning we received a letter from the sixth school informing us of intro meetings and uniform etc, is this usual? I declined the place on the day I received the offer and wrote the name of the free school in the box, surely they need to be offering this place to someone else?? -
Your views on Dulwich Montessori and the sister nursery
Mariamadeit replied to HelenB82's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son is at blossoms Montessori, we love it, he has been very happy there, they have supported his early learning brilliantly and they do proper Montessori, not all do. -
I would love to but my son has checked pox so that's me out (or rather stuck at home) for the rest of the week, hopefully meet you all soon!

Harris East Dulwich Reception 2014
Mariamadeit replied to Caroline_S's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes good idea, will look forward to it! -
Looks fab, I have entered, I think...
-
I would think it would depend on the qualification of the person running the session as well as materials and if it was a one off or every week per term, also how many children are involved and if there will be other teachers involved too... I am a teacher and have charged ?200 for a couple of hours of INSET for teachers and I know people who come into schools charge a similar price for a one off session.

Yes I had an issue with a builder recently (not our builder, he was working on a neighbour's property but needed access) just awful, apparently I was in the wrong for daring to ask how much longer the work would take as he was blocking our drive for over 3 weeks. Unfortunately, the neighbour didn't see fit to discuss it with us before hand, or indeed afterwards.

Yes I would be around in the day but will have my 2 yo with me, I can't do next week but will keep watching for the next one.
