  1. If you look on this board, there is a thread for spring babies, I imagine the summer one will open after xmas, I guess we wait and keep checking to join it when it appears. I will pm you my details if you want to meet up in jan.
  2. I am due mid June with my third, if you wanted to meet for a coffee/herbal tea anytime...
  3. Keep on at calling nurseries, they are generally busy looking after the children. I can recommend blossoms Montessori, both of my children have thrived there, it is a great nursery.
  4. We hired a hostel in the lakes for a joint hen/stag weekend, it was brilliant. I would def recommend getting own rooms if you don't like being disturbed in the night. Lots of fun though and you meet lots of different people.
  5. No, as I understand it from last year's applications, all choices of all applicants are put into the system and then places allocated. You should put the ones you really want as first and second and should perhaps consider putting an insurance of a less popular school at number six.
  6. I used to teach at Sedgehill school, Lewisham, I know several families from the ed area sent their children there. It is by no means a failing school, it was affected by the exam changes in 2014 which had an impact on GCSE results in the same way other schools nationally did however, they are on track for their best results ever in 2015, yet Lewisham council have served notice to remove the governing body and are taking steps to make it an academy school instead of the thriving community school it is. This will have a huge impact on students, staff and the community and may also have far reaching effects across the borough. There has been a great deal in the local press, please have a read and consider signing the petition http://www.change.org/p/mayor-of-lewisham-save-sedgehill-school/suggested_petitions to show the mayor of London that this is not what the community wants.
  7. Oo yum that looks amazing. As students in Leeds, we regularly ate here hansasrestaurant.com amazing food, I have never found anywhere else in a similar league.
  8. I don't think that is normal at all! Yes children get into scrapes but this does seem an awful lot. Are the school doing anything about what he has said, and if not why not? I would not be happy and would be talking to teachers about what is being done to sort this out. Speak to the head if necessary.
  9. Not sure I have understood your question? If you want to look around, they have sessions on Tuesdays that you need to call and book your place on.
  10. My son is at harris ed and the children are quite widely spread, which is to be expected as no one knew what it would be like until we started in September, until they move to the permanent site on lordship lane, the catchment is likely to be a bit random. There are still places in my son's year but once it moves, i wouldn't be surprised if it becomes highly competitive to get in.
  11. It is my understanding that the order you put the choices in does not make a difference, it is all on distance, unless you qualify on a different reason, but you should make sure that your choices are in order that you want.
  12. There is a nanny agency that does ad hoc cover for this, you have my sympathies though, it isn't easy.
  13. We are in the same boat, so far had one party on a fri straight after school, he was v tired afterwards, I imagine that some children who stay in after school club wouldn't have been able to attend. And more likely to have younger siblings about too if other parent is working? Personally I prefer weekends and if we have something on then so be it.
  14. Excited to have my stall here on Saturday, bring along your children to have prints made and design your special print piece, a perfect Xmas present (to yourself).
  15. Yes agree with above, bf will still be her main source of nutrition and fruit pur?e doesn't have many calories. Have you looked at baby led weaning, where a whole piece of food is given without pur?e ing it, it may be that she isn't keen on pur?es. Either way, stay relaxed, keep offering and she will get there. You might find www.babyledweaning.com helpful.
  16. I have also enquired about having a stall for my silver prints keepsakes but have been told I wouldn't get one as there is already a jewellery stall. I wonder if we could petition for a community stall which could be booked by people living locally for a one off or something similar?
  17. The man in the green shop on the corner in Peckham, you'll prob find it isn't open when you go but his number is on the door to book your machine in. He's very good.
  18. Pulled pork is super easy in a slow cooker too! Not sure what vegetarians would go for instead but a good range of salads would make a lovely lunch.
  19. Thank you to those people who have contacted me re Xmas fairs etc, orders need to be placed in November for Xmas delivery.

  21. I was also a bit put off by at at first, was advised that it can take a few weeks to settle but after that all fine, for me the I had an odd bit of spotting over the first month then all settled down. Def worth that first bit to get the payoff later.
  22. Coil can stop periods altogether made a big difference to my post children heavy periods and after 9 months stopped totally. No worse than smear test for fitting then done and you can forget about it for a good while, hormones less than pill...
  23. Thanks all, we went today and had a great time, my son really enjoyed climbing the ladders. He had a captain hat on and people kept stopping to salute him. It took a good 1.5 hours and we explored every corner though didn't stop to read any of the info. Highly recommend, and you can get tesco vouchers to pay for it too!
  24. For once my hubby will be taking toddler out on their own so not an issue this time, sounds perfect for what we wanted thanks!
  25. Thinking of taking my son who has INSET days next week, how long would it entertain an interest nearly 5 year old?
