Harris Primary (East Dulwich) feedback so far...?
Mariamadeit replied to ksh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Not sure I have understood your question? If you want to look around, they have sessions on Tuesdays that you need to call and book your place on. -
primary school admissions 2015
Mariamadeit replied to sarahsouthlondon's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son is at harris ed and the children are quite widely spread, which is to be expected as no one knew what it would be like until we started in September, until they move to the permanent site on lordship lane, the catchment is likely to be a bit random. There are still places in my son's year but once it moves, i wouldn't be surprised if it becomes highly competitive to get in. -

It is my understanding that the order you put the choices in does not make a difference, it is all on distance, unless you qualify on a different reason, but you should make sure that your choices are in order that you want. -
What do you do about emergency childcare?
Mariamadeit replied to Ellie78's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There is a nanny agency that does ad hoc cover for this, you have my sympathies though, it isn't easy. -
We are in the same boat, so far had one party on a fri straight after school, he was v tired afterwards, I imagine that some children who stay in after school club wouldn't have been able to attend. And more likely to have younger siblings about too if other parent is working? Personally I prefer weekends and if we have something on then so be it.

Yes agree with above, bf will still be her main source of nutrition and fruit pur?e doesn't have many calories. Have you looked at baby led weaning, where a whole piece of food is given without pur?e ing it, it may be that she isn't keen on pur?es. Either way, stay relaxed, keep offering and she will get there. You might find www.babyledweaning.com helpful.

How does one get a stall on North Cross Road Market?
Mariamadeit replied to movingeast's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have also enquired about having a stall for my silver prints keepsakes but have been told I wouldn't get one as there is already a jewellery stall. I wonder if we could petition for a community stall which could be booked by people living locally for a one off or something similar? -
Pulled pork is super easy in a slow cooker too! Not sure what vegetarians would go for instead but a good range of salads would make a lovely lunch.

Family complete - to pill or not...
Mariamadeit replied to minimac's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I was also a bit put off by at at first, was advised that it can take a few weeks to settle but after that all fine, for me the I had an odd bit of spotting over the first month then all settled down. Def worth that first bit to get the payoff later. -
Family complete - to pill or not...
Mariamadeit replied to minimac's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Coil can stop periods altogether made a big difference to my post children heavy periods and after 9 months stopped totally. No worse than smear test for fitting then done and you can forget about it for a good while, hormones less than pill... -
Anyone visited HMS Belfast?
Mariamadeit replied to Mariamadeit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks all, we went today and had a great time, my son really enjoyed climbing the ladders. He had a captain hat on and people kept stopping to salute him. It took a good 1.5 hours and we explored every corner though didn't stop to read any of the info. Highly recommend, and you can get tesco vouchers to pay for it too! -

What's happening to old ED police station?
Mariamadeit replied to dwatkins's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There has been a delay as there are structural issues that need sorting out first, there is an information session happening during half term I think, can't remember the exact details... But the plans will be shared then. -
To slow cooker or not to slow cooker
Mariamadeit replied to ACBP's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You can sort that by putting a clean tea towel over before putting the lid on x -
To slow cooker or not to slow cooker
Mariamadeit replied to ACBP's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Not disputing the value of of pressure cooker but if your children are like mine, even 30 mins of cooking in the kitchen can be too much, we need a meal that is ready to serve up when we are ready for it. Literally plates and cutlery out, dish up, eat. That is why I love my slow cooker, this week we had three delicious meals from it only one was stew and next week we are having pulled pork, yum. -
question for expert sewers out there
Mariamadeit replied to SE22mum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would think the Velcro would be stronger than the glue, therefore you need to sew them, there is a place in forest hill that rents out machines for a weekend... -
To slow cooker or not to slow cooker
Mariamadeit replied to ACBP's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes!! Makes dinner so much easier, you can prep in the morning when everyone has more patience and by the time the early evening craziness begins, dinner will be ready and waiting for you, easy! We do lots of stews in ours, so far this week we have had gammon and mixed bean chowder and beef stew and will do a roast chicken in it later in the week. You can even prep and freeze bags of ingredients so you just defrost and stick it in. I don't bother with following the recipes to the letter (no browning/frying off things) just stick it all in and leave it. -
Harris Primary (East Dulwich) feedback so far...?

I can second that too, am so pleased, it really couldn't have gone better for my son either, he loves school and I have been particularly impressed with the head, staff and resources available to them. -
To the lady driving the yellow car down forest hill road today at 2:30... When the traffic lights are on red, not just turned red, they had been red for a while, you need to stop, my daughter (aged 2) and I were in the middle of the crossing when you totally ignored the lights, and us and all of the other cars beeping a warning at you. Please drive with more care and attention.

We went recently too my children are 4 and 2 we all got up and were at the pool (changed etc) waiting for them to let us in which meant we got straight onto the things we wanted and it wasn't busy. After lunch both children had a sleep. We had a great time, have fun! -
