Take a look at Portabello Road, it's slowly slipped into the 'chain' model As has Northcote Road in Battersea, but less so. However, once it starts, it's hard to resist for landlords Something does get lost, the atmosphere changes too

The I Don't Go Anywhere For Sunday Lunch Thread
Seabag replied to aquarius moon's topic in The Lounge

I can't seem to find the Sunday Lunch Thread, of which you speak. Unless you're refering to the paltry "The Rose" thread in the Business section Anyway, it's horses for courses. I managed 3 yesterday, courses not horses, but had Horse been on the menu, i'd have considered it In the spirit of your eating in thread, I will be cooking a 3 rib beef joint today. Monday home roast is possibly better than Sunday. An indulgent and comforting way, to fire this wet week up Add a pan of roast vegetables, some quinoa and Puy lentils and you're done. That said, I may do some baked cheesey leeks too A couple of bottles of wine, may feature Nice thread, happy to contribute Ps. What days off do you get off AM -

Joking aside, Parts of Penge are much like other parts of other 'nice' places Rows of Victorian/Edwardian terraces/Semi's in similar type sub-urban streets. It's fairly stock London housing and you could as easily be in Earlsfield, Wandsworth, ED, Peckham etc If it's shops and services your after, then Penge does have a good variety, much like Sydenham does, just not like ED. I'm not sure how often I want/need a Fat Face/Oliver Bonas/MammaBebe/ Cookwan*k shop on my doorstep, i'm quite prepared to trave for that stuff. And on the travel tip, I'm happy with Sydenham (where I live) and i'd be good in Penge, as it's pretty well serviced too As for crime, i've seen some on my near doorstep, heard about stuff in my vacinity. Though I try to put perspective on the whole thing, as i've been in places where horrible things happend, in places like Chelsea. I've seen the fear & paranoia in people, those who live in well upholstered houses, in areas where quite horendous (on off) crimes have been committed. It happens, not sure what you can do about randomness Good luck to anyone who's on the housing trail. Just to stay within striking distance of this great City is an achievement. I've driven through areas of Northampton a while back, so dull and lifeless, places on thier knees. I'd rather live in a vibrant and even challenging place, then a dying town in nowheresville....Anyday I'd also rather have a Pro South East London vibe, not "Is X the new X" fook w4nk

Eating on the train/bus/etc It's not the act of eating, its more WHAT is eaten On the train back from Victoria a couple were eating a Curry EACH They had these huge litre pots of steaming gunk, and proceeded to stuff thier faces with it I'm all for dining out BUT DO IT IN THE RIGHT PLACE An i'd pay someone to blow that friggin West Cornwall Pastie shop up *Ahem*

Ah Penge The local folks of Penge are a joy to behold Stout, tattooed, toothless and reticent. Sporting soverign ear rings and necklaces, giving you the "Penge stare" "Wot you fakkin lookin'at?" one asked me once "Erm...." was the best I could muster It still has a street market of sorts (I think)and nice houses toward ClockHouse And a Greggs and a Mc Donalds

Also, i've had bigger trading entities and smaller. But accounting easiest (like now) is liberating I've had: Quick Books EXcel Sage SAGE 40 And hated them all, because they're desiged for a certain amount of co-dependencey We now use Kash Flow http://www.kashflow.com All I can say is, thank fekk, where have you been all my life (for ?25 pcm) It does invoice, delivery note, VAT, payment tracking, reminders and returns all in one. On i-pad, tablet, I-phone etc Less staff in the office (1+ 1 part timer) and me. It's become the drive engine of our business, making everything more transparent

There's a few loops to be explored LTD is quite simple, but Sole Trader to LTD taxation liability/allowance wise, can be different. There's a point where you could sell your sole trader part to the LTD and recive a goodwill chunk in return, on top of your tax allowance as the LTD director You can run a LTD and a sole trade co as seperate entities, in most circumstances It's worth exploring all this before you take the leap In the region of 20k as the allowance in year 1, isn't unusual I'm happy to share my accountants contact details with you, he's in Crystal Palace and isn't expensive

On the posh accent barrometer I think just like all accents are evolving here. That particular one is what I call "PR/PA Posh" and I hear it most in the Food PR industry Conversely, in my other life, where I wear a 'design' hat, the posh accent is different. Higher, soft, less deep Bloody good fun tho, either way

I always thought it should be a small hotel, given its size and location Count ourselves lucky that it's not a Youngs house, they'd fekk the place up for sure That said, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that this lot don't tart the arse out of it I liked the old smaller bar area, but I did eat a pretty shabby meal there a few weeks back. So no love lost for the restaurant bit

What's the fabulously posh one called, I think it's Cloe "Ohhhh maaa goaaad, I woan't letccchhh yo dowaaaaan" in that slightly echoey, drawn out posh drawl Just for that, she's in Cheryl looks amazingly Cheryl like/ Tulisa looks tragicly 'clown like' bless her Louis and Simon are just hilarious, in thier own weird way
