Why would a decorator charge more for painting in colour?

It should be costed by the coat then X 2 or 3 even. Can't see why colour is different, but by how much? -

I'm not saying a 'cool pub' Just something very nice, instead of very bland. It's a historic and beautiful village, not the arse end of the suburbs

They're polished, as in a shellac based polish. It's why the water marks are there, trapped in the polish. It's usually caused by vases of flowers etc They need cabinet (blade) scraping along the grain and repolishing with button or French polish. Don't wax or varnish the polish, as it's an organic compound and eventually blackens/discolours over time. If you want to make them good, knowing they're not worth much. Then varnish them with and eggshell varnish, but if they're a nest of 20th Century modern, then do them properly, or ask someone to get done for you Jerry at I.D in Church road Crystal Palace is a good go to

It was a deliberate side swipe DaveR Against hope it was a 'grey man committee from T Wells' I just don't understand why a 'smooth finance guy' would sh*t on their own doorstep Maybe to control his wife's spending whilst he toiled away over another spreadsheet Either way, it shows how bean counters and lawyers should be held to account on the outcome of their limited imaginations It's a nice village, why not put something very nice there too?

I like Brockley, I'd live there too Nice houses nice market and good transport Down side ? It's not quite as high streety on Saturday, if that's what floats your boat

How dark is it? Cost is based on number of coats and change of colour wall/ceiling Are the skirting & doors being done, if so is it oil or acrylic paint and the same or different colour? -
It feels like the suburbs are creeping in These are the sorts of places you find in the arse end of Downham or Erith or Chichester I very don't like Chichester

It's a crying shame that the village seems to get blander and blander (if blander is a word) I'm trying to imagine what the board/committee of Dulwich estates look like, and trying to imagine where they live. I've a picture of a dust hazed room, with oak veneer panelling and a nylon carpet that generates static shocks when you touch something metallic. It's populated by men in various shades of greige, all looking at spread sheets with the last figures highlighted in a pink box The person at the top of the lozenge shaped table asks "Do we all agree?" And the rest who dare not disagree nod, then shuffle out to drive back to places like Tunbridge Wells and Leeds Castle in their Land Rover Discoveries or Nissan's of some description (in metallic grey) Later on in the weeks ahead their wives ask if they will come for lunch with the grandchildren. Somewhere along the way into London, like Petts Wood "Yes BUT, as long as it's not somewhere ghastly like that Harvester place" is the reply

Waiter tried to get us to order > it too... no frickin way... It's called Pitt Cue Here's the 2012 review http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/feb/12/jay-rayner-restaurant-pitt-cue It started as a food truck and went on to become a restaurant of some high standing. In fact they led where others followed and have continued to break new ground. (#amazeballs, I'm guilty of using such phrases to irritate my teenage son) They did however pioneer the Pickle back thing, using good bourbon and home brewed picke juice. They made it fun (and gave you a massive hangover) and if you ate out in Soho on a regular basis, then this place was very special. Sadly the Soho site is now gone and they reside in a bigger and more commercially viable space Nr Liverpool Street. And the pickle backs are gone, as is the pulled pork. The Chef/owner has taken a progressive step, by buying a farm and breeding and rearing his own beasts. He started 3 years ago with Mangalitza (the woolly ones) pigs and now has a herd of 160+. They new farm project has a herd of around 100+ Dexter cows. All for the supply to the restaurant, and for a guy who's about 30, I take my hat off to him. Here's the 2016 review http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/apr/15/pitt-cue-london-ec2-restaurant-review-marina-oloughlin

At least it's designed to turn foodies and hipsters and most others away It's what the area needs isn't it, stuff appealing to 'generic everyman' and nobody left out It's looking double vanilla (synthetic of course) which is great, because they'll do food that sounds nice & looks quite nice in the photos, and fills a hole in the stomach and that what counts

I've been thinking about this for some time. I like the idea of a pub, what they serve and what they do by way of social function. But I find myself observing rather than using them Do I need stripping back to the bare bones, and filling with chintz I wonder?

"He" has a totally new life now, children, swimming at the local pool, new office set up as a replica of his London desk. So now he's on his own time, not posting whilst at work and busy when he gets home So he doesn't need us, but he's bang up on CBB's and if I'm honest I felt for him. He was wearing an old track suit, hadn't shaved for a week and had that 'left London' look in his eyes Poor man, he asked if the Sea Cow was still doing the best fish & chips. I didn't have the heart to tell him it's gone
