  4. Basically, people like me are frustrated that even with the best will in the world. Neither side wants to agree... https://www.spiked-online.com/2020/06/17/the-ugly-rise-of-left-wing-racism/
  5. The progressive response would be that the white feelings don't matter in the face of racial injustice. Well of course..but let's be pragmatic........
  6. DB....look I know that's the goal. Of course. And I know I'm painted as being anti that goal. But it's not just about me. How does this movement win over people who are 'anti-racist'....but don't like being told that they have no voice/are privileged etc? Should we be academic or should we be practical?
  7. I think we can all find memes to support our views. But at the end of the day.....do the peopl who've denigrated me and this thread TRULY believe that MOST people (including me) are racist? Or are they parroting slogans?

But do you not get tired of vilifying the same people with the same points? It must be exhausting. Although to be fair, this thread has had 3 months off......
  10. alice Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What honestly is the point of this thread? It?s a > fake discussion allowing a space for racist views. > Any chance of it closing? I think this thread on got to a point where it has become dog whistle links and memes becuase there was an inability of people to engage with others when they disagree on what are really minor issues (no racism is not a minor issue..I mean opinion about how best to tackle it) The Lions share of people on this thread (including me as the OP) are clearly 'anti-rascist'....but there is disagreement on the narrative around how to discuss and achieve that. And some people see disagreement with anything that BLM says as evidence of racism. You know it's a losing endeavour, when you get told that 'white silence is violence'.....then you engage, and get memes posted, saying white guys claiming to engage is another no no......

  14. We did shots from films, but the face of the character was obscured. And people have to name the film. The funny bit was that it was pics of family members obscuring the photo....lost of laughs at my father in law being forest Gump...or brother as Hannibal lecter.....
  15. eastdulwichavenger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > So I won't be replying anymore, Hahaha. So you make one post with a meme that someone else has written. And you think you are 'replying'. How will we ever manage without your peurile contribution? And if its a 'one sided debate' then tell me what your issue is? And make it two sided. But evidence suggests that you have neither the intelligence or the fortitude to actually engage on the issue. You'd prefer to just wade in and have a go at me for reasons you clearly don't think you need to explain, becuase you're so caught up in your own self-righteousness to ever actually use any critical thought.
  16. eastdulwichavenger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This is the vibe I get from this thread Yeah that's right. Becuase a 'white guy' is asking questions we have to belittle and dismiss him, becuase he must just be a an 'oxygen theif', trying to wind people up. How dare he have the nerve to question what we know to be true. The entitlement that he's showing is evidence that he's a bad, bad person.

When people don't 'get it' it might be becuase they disagree. Not becuase they don't understand. By branding anyone who disagrees with you as needing 'education' you're displaying a lack of ability to actually engage with them and have your arguments stand up to scrutiny. I've actually read 'why I've stopped talking to white people about race'...I think the whole concept is a disgrace. This is a serious issue that needs debate and interaction, but becuase someone questions it, the author refuses to engage? Martin Luther King would be ashamed.....
  18. DulwichBorn&Bred Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I give up. > 🤦🏽‍♀️ Why? Once again....we agree on 90 percent of all this...but becuase I disagree on language...you're having a go at me? God forbid you have to debate an actual bigot....
  19. gaslighting huh? im not offended. i crave debate and disagreement...thats how we improve ourselves. Yes, i dont know the alternative term...thats a whole discussion on its own. so ive said a number of times that i agree with the arguement, but all you want to do is attack me for not loving the terminology.....
  20. again. im not sure. but this need to be offended by any questioning of the narrative is my entire point. ive just said that i AGREE with the concept of what is called white privilege...but i dont like the moniker. but all most people see is a white man denying white privilege....

But as I said, I get the concept, and I'm not denying it. But surely you can't disagree that the term 'white privelige' just gets people backs up, who might otherwise be supportive......
  22. So for people that value language...how is 'white privelige' a constructive term? I get the concept....I know that I don't get pulled over when I drive to get bread....but why pick a term that's clearly so divisive????..
  23. Things won't be back to normal until we're abusing eachother...oh sorry...I mean 'civilly debating'....on a brexit thread on edf.....

Calling out the armchair activists who make their Instagram black and think they are a good person as a result.
