  1. Try a Hypnobirthing session or course with Lisa Toth. I read the book but also did a weekend course with my husband a few months before I had my son. I used LOADS of the techniques during the labour and birth. I did the course at the Sunflower Centre, but she also runs one day workshops at Yogarise in Peckham (where she also teaches pregnancy yoga). I also found the yoga helpful but the visualisations and mindset (from listening to the various meditations) were defo from the Hypno stuff. :) Lisa's website is: https://www.anjaneyayoga.co.uk/pages/hypnobirthing.html Good luck mammas-to-be! xx
  2. Hi there In July we are moving to Honor Oak Park and sadly will probably have to move the childminder for my little boy, as they are Peckham based. Does anyone know of a reputable, loving childminder in or near Honor Oak Park? I know this is a forum for 'East Dulwich' but maybe you have a friend in Honor Oak who raves about how great their childminder is, or perhaps you yourself have moved there from East Dulwich? Any help gratefully welcomed. Thanks Em

  7. Yey! Leo Cosendai is back at Yogarise with his wonderful gong meditation... Gong meditation, a type of sound therapy, has been used for thousands of years as a means of healing. Producing a sound wave, the vibration of the gong creates the perfect soundscape to relax, let go and detach from a busy mind. The long term benefits of being exposed to the gong are manifold - from promoting good sleep and breaking up emotional blockages, to stress reduction and more. London gong master Leo Cosendai will begin the Gong Bath with Kriyas - breathing exercises to warm up and prepare the body for the meditation - followed by an immersive sound experience. The workshop will take you on a journey of deep exploration of your physical body and soul. Leo is a Prana Kriya yoga teacher, sound healer, therapist, and a composer born in Switzerland in 1989. He has trained with Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux and Yogi Ashokananda. 8. EXPLORING BACKBENDS WITH NATHALIE MUKUSHEVA - THIS SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER AT YOGARISE, PECKHAM. One of the most common misconceptions when it comes to backbends is that they originate in the lumbar spine or lower back, when actually what we?re looking for is length in the lower back. In this workshop we will begin in restorative poses, designed to open the chest and shoulders by creating length through the front body. Working from the ground up by moving through a series of standing poses designed to strengthen the legs and ankles, and stabilise the pelvis (another important component in safe back bending) you will establish a firm foundation from which to explore your backbend practice. Working with a partner you will explore the use of props and the wall before moving into a fun, safe, deep backbend practice. The props will stabilise and bring the body into optimal alignment so you can experience how the postures feels before attempting to go deeper. We will explore poses like Natarajasana (Dancer?s pose), Kapotasana (Pigeon Pose), Eka-Pada- Kapotasana (One- Legged Pigeon Pose) Eka-Pada-Rajakapotasana (One Leg King Pigeon Pose) and finally working into Drop Backs ? coming into Urdva Dhanurasana (Wheel) from standing. Expect to be uplifted, stretched and empowered from this deep, heart-opening practice. Please use this link to book, or download our free Yogarise app to your phone and click on 'Workshops'. http://bit.ly/1UiRxot If you wish to book for a friend, please email us: [email protected]. It is only possible to reserve one space under your own name. 2.30-4.30pm Sat 12 Nov ?25 Find out more about Nat here: http://bit.ly/2e9e6No

  12. Do you treat your uterus like a Mexican at a trump rally? Then this workshop is for you! Do you float through your moon like a pixie on acid? Then cut down on the pain killers and come to class! As we all know, life doesn?t stop when your monthly cycle comes round and your yoga practice doesn?t need to either? but maybe it could be adjusted slightly to accommodate a few of the changes. We are all different, and some women are more affected by the fluctuations in the body at this time than others. In this two-hour workshop we will look at how to practise mindfully and in a way that honours our bodies during the time of menstruation. We will investigate poses that can help relieve abdominal cramps and lower back pain, poses to help counteract feelings of bloating and fatigue. We will also look at other complimentary practices that can nurture and support the body and mind during this period. Former nurse, Ayurvedic practitioner and yoga teacher, Lolo, will share her knowledge and expertise in this practical guide to practising on your period. The workshop will include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, plus plenty of top tips. All levels welcome. 16. "Put your feet up (n the air)" with Marcus Veda & Rocket Club Yoga. - http://www.marcusvedayoga.com Inversions and arm-balances are about approaching challenges in a new way and seeing things from a different perspective. Traditionally they are seen as 'advanced' postures not because they are so much harder to do but because they bring your concentration ('dharana') into much more focus, and so are considered suitable for the yogi who is taking their practice to the next level. But anyone can start practising these postures as long as they approach them with the right preparation and intention. We are so used to standing upright without even thinking about it, but go upside down, and all our fears, instabilities and insecurities come out. So it?s just like learning how to stand again, till we don?t have to think about it anymore, either way up. As George Clinton (nearly) said, ?Still your mind and your ass will follow.? We will break down the simple to more advanced arm balances, inversions (headstand, handstand) and transitions in the Rocket sequence. Suitable for anyone who has been to a Rocket class and gets stuck somewhere- from frequent flyers to those who are new to getting upside down. Rocket @Yogarise, Putting the jump in your rump since 2014. #yogariseyourlife Book online now using this link (?20) - https://goteamup.com/p/113189-yogarise-ltd/courses/5828/register/ Yogarise Peckham is located in the Bussey Building, Peckham Rye (just down the 133 Rye Lane alley).
