  7. ah i feel really very sad that the drinks have come to an end. We moved to the area 2 years ago...and the forum was a wonderful resource for the community But discovering the drinks was a great way for me and Franster to meet new people especially as we didnt know anyone in this area. Since my first drinks at the old pub in Nunhead...ive met loads of nice friendly people inc Sean, Sue, Citizen Ed, Andrew, David Carnell, Georgia, Raj, Mick Mac, Mockney Piers...etc and not forgetting my very good neighbour and football buddies LadyMuck and DJQKillaQueen!!! Well Georgia thanks for all your hard work and effort in organizing the drinks.
  8. I think its great...in fact last year I was buying Mince Pies and Xmas cake for the office back in October...they thought it was sooo wrong!!

Ladymuck so sorryt I have blown you, Lord Muck and DJKQ for footie. I will be out and about this Friday night! xx
  10. This evening I dashed down to Dulwich Leisure Centre for the first day of its reopening. Its fantastic! I walked into the new entrance on Crystal Palace Road and was amazed at the very swish bright open reception. The changing rooms were impressive too , very smart, new and clean! It just reminded me of the private gyms such as David Lloyd, Virgin Active that I had been a member of in the past. The re-development of the pool itself is excellent , especially the roof and bright all around. Looks great and a great job. I look forward to many more swims there in the future!
  11. Hi James Ive just seen that it says on Dulwich Leisure Centre website: 'The first phase of Dulwich Leisure Centre will be completed and open to the public on 25 September 2010.' Is it opening tommorrow or Saturday?
  12. James it looks really nice inside!! Are you going to be the very first one to dive into the new Dulwich Pool at 6.30 am this Friday morning??

  14. oh gosh does that mean we will have to boycott Il Mirto ??? oh well the pain of missinfg those lovely tasty pizzas and delicious Italian dishes may be worth it.
  15. Whats happened to Barry Jones the station manager Guy who used to post on EDF? I don't see his thread? Has he moved on,being silenced by southern rail for being too popular? or is he running for mayor? Concerned of Camberwell
  16. Thats excellent news.it was hard work but we are nearly there!I looked at the timetable.the times look Very accessible.I look forward to morning swims.the adult lane swims in the evening are longer than Peckham pulse.thanks very much for keeping us informed James all along
  17. This sounds good news. My local back in my home town is a Wetherspoons and they offer cracking good value on drinks. Especially the shorts like Malt Whiskeys, nice beers... Might be a hell of a lot busier than The Vale which would be good!

I agree with the issue of licencing. We were living behind the ground on Burrow Road and 2 years ago..the noise used to be a major problem. In fact one of the residents launched a petition. But they got the shutters in and it was no longer a problem. I support the football club, seeking to earn money from putting these parties on...but they have to respect the licence terms and locals. Having music past 1 , in fact 2 is out of order. Good luck talking to Nick, Sylvie Last night i was at the footie and saw that they had industrial fans in the bar... So maybe there is no reason for not bringing the shutters down on a Saturday night?
  20. I totally agree. We moved to East Dulwich 2 years ago and lived behind the football ground. I went to my first game within a month of moving here...and loved it! Its a nice friendly atmosphere...theres never any aggro , hoolaganism or trouble. The crowds have banter and a laugh...we pile into the bar at half time and full time ...for footie results on Sky! And great little kitchen downstairs with the ladies serving up tasty burgers, chips, hot dogs The nicest thing is being able to take my little girl down there..and she happly runs around playing and watching the footie with me!! Even Franster who normally hates football , enjoyed the day out down there. Its great value for money...?6 entry So come down and support your local team here!!

Coming back to the main thread...I cant say that I have heard much noise from the club in the nights when parties are on. I thought the club had air conditioning in the bar...if not then maybe bringing down the industrial fans from the gym might help with the heat inside the club.
