In the real world its a nice area to live in.
  2. Just now. Handed in to the cafe next to the playground. Aneto i think its called. PM me if you want more info my wife has a pic of it. thanks
  3. No personal information shared here beck so calm down!
  4. The furlough scheme is available for workers on zero hours contracts. There is another Jonnies on Coldhabour Lane, perhaps one shop was registered and the other not hence the confusion? I may be wrong.
  5. I was a bit too young for memories of the 70's, but grew up and went to school in East Dulwich in the 80's, Grove Vale (now called Goose Green). My Grandparents first moved there in the 50's, bringing up 7 kids. House still in the family, my parents now live there, Its seen 4 generations. My memories: a 7eleven (now Superdrug); A toy shop (near the opticians?), Dulwich Tandoori as long as I can remember, and yes there was a Woolworths but maybe thats my dads memory not mine! I do remember a local policeman being stabbed in a shop on Lordship Lane, he was the husband of our headmistress. He recovered if I recall.

This is only from confirmed, tested cases. As we all know not everyone is being tested. We have been told that it is likely much, much higher than this, which means the mortality rate is lower. I dont want to downplay the seriousness of the situation of course. As it stood as of yesterday, the UK had a mortality rate of 15 per 1,000,000 of its population. This is unfortunately likely to increase however.

  8. Hi, long shot I know, but... A few years ago I had a lovely guy come and clean some guttering for me. Unfortunately I've since lost his contact details but i'm sure I found him via this forum! If this rings a bell with anyone please could you post his details on here! thanks.

Agree. This forum continues to go downhill.
  11. The answer to your post is yes. Any house will sell at the correct price. But what a seller thinks is the correct price and what the currnt market dictates are often two different things.
  12. The school has enough land to create an area or route where coaches can pull in and wait surely? maybe not all the coaches but enough to release the strain on the overcrowded road.
  13. Hi there, we left space at the back of the bath and built a stud wall with a slim floor to ceiling cupboard that has the pipes for the overhead shower, holds kids bath toys, toiletries and our laundry basket. PM me if you want pics.
  14. smith 41 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Take responsibility for your own mistakes and stop > passing the buck it?s no ones fault but yours for > leaving a treasured scooter behind I don't think anyone is trying to blame the shop for the OP forgetting the scooter, and there have been loads of assumptions on here and silly talk about 'storage space'.... I suppose it comes down to whether you think 30mins was reasonable or not. I personally don't but others obviously think differently.
  15. I wonder how many of you would feel if you left your mobile phone, your handbag or your wallet in this shop. And when you realised and went back the shopkeeper told you he doesn't keep anything here and put it outside after 30mins.
  16. Fair enough, I can't confess to read all threads that are posted on here.
  17. I agree, but this section is general East Dulwich issues and gossip is it not? Firstly what the OP highlighted was indeed that, but has been allowed to derail into the usual crap. Also I couldn't see anything in the post that could be described as racist, homophobic or misogynistic. It's a shame, as this could have bene a serious debate about youth/bystander behaviour in E Dulwich. And it seems happens with almost every post I read on here!
  18. Agree betternowhanthen. Is this forum controlled anymore by an Admin? Time and again subjects get derailed by the usual mob and are allowed to descend into language and opinion bashing. Often the good intentions of OP's to share information get lost in translation because they may have used a slightly off term or description . Big deal! It's annoying and sad.

  20. I done a few before. The changes vary from council to council, but for a licensed HMO property you would at least need: 1.Fire doors and linings on all risk rooms. 2.A Fire alarm system, hard wired and call points around the house. 3.Emergency lighting (if escape routes don't have much natural light) 4.interlinked smoke detectors in most rooms and a heat alarm in the kitchen. 5. if you have a basement or cellar the ceiling needs to be fire protected. 6.extinguishers 7.Fire risk assessment. plus other stuff like enough toilets and wash facilities, room sizes, storage space etc. it's not an easy process but I found Southwark Council to be helpful in the process. Also, download and look at the Lacors Fire Safety Guide. Hope this helps.
  21. A HMO will yeild a better rent. I'm sure you only need a license if it's 5 or more rooms? Contact Southwarks Private Housing Enforcement team to check, as making the changes to your property can cost anything between 3-6k
  22. I agree with lot of what Ribrob says. I suppose it's horses for courses, but it's great as locals we have the choice between 2 places offering an experience with different standards/tastes/prices etc. You cannot deny PeckhamPlex is excellent value for money. I usually take the kids, or if it's just me it would be a daytime weekday screening. But PH is obviously a nicer place and a much better all round cinema experience. I often find it at least comparable to Odeon prices, but cheaper than an Everyman.
  23. A capital city with a population of 8m is noisy. Who knew....!
