  1. Sillywoman, You must be in that awful zone of feeling cross and sorry for her all at once. Poor you. Health Matters sell some fantastic Aloe Vera after sun cream which I always buy for us to take to Spain. I've tried many, but it is by far the best. I think the make is Organic Baby. It isn't cheap, but is really lovely and goes into the skin nicely - a little goes a long way. From memory it is a white tube with a green aloe vera leaf turned into a person on it, and I think a blue, maybe green screw on lid. You can also use Lavender Essential Oil directly on burns, though I think that is more to stop the scalding hurting feeling from cooking burns, rather than soothing sun burn. Hope this helps. Molly xxx
  2. Would go & ask in Health Matters on Lordship Lane, they have paraben free creams, best to cover up & stay in shade if you can when they are that young though to be honest (which I know you said you'd be doing).
  3. Oh, and you get an evening - don't find yourself sitting down to eat dinner with your partner at 9pm. You get to listen to Radio 4 without being interrupted at the key moment (same with TV programmes). You get to drink a cup of tea before it has gone cold.
  4. You can clean & tidy the whole house & enjoy it for more than....1 hour max before it looks just the same as before you did anything. :-(
  5. Wow, only need a C now! Sainsburys had none on the shelf but when asked brought a full selection out & in open sided packaging so I was able to see which ones I got (is that cheating?). Mrs TP, didn't find your M, but all is not lost as there seemed to be many there & each pack was different (I wondered if each lot in a bigger box would be the same, but no). Happy hunting ladies. I have spares now of; B - Bubbles E - Egg I - Igloo J - Jockey U - Udder I clearly have too much time on my hands / am avoiding the ironing!! J
  6. Has anyone tried the wii fit? I go running at 6am when I can & use the PR Park outdoor gym but when my hubby is away my mindset is that I can't exercise. So may try the Davina DVD as a cheaper option than buying a wii & see if I can keep it up. I had to go to a 'posh' do on Thursday night & it was not a happy time trying on the pre baby (8 years & 2 children) clothes....I'm trying to be positive in that they went o on but looked BAD..... :-( Cant wait for both to be at school, I think then I might manage an hour at the gym 5 days a week then - heaven!
  7. I know we all like to know these things, so in the interest of public knowledge I asked; It's a feature film called St Georges Day, a bit like Lock, Stock ..... Didn't spot anyone famous, but the catering unit smelt fantastic!!
  8. ....and I have a 4 and a 2, most recently used for my own 42nd birthday LOL >:D<.....maybe between us we could manage to have a full set....anyone else??? Molly
  9. Oh no - Mrs TP, just realised your girls want a P....but I need one of those too. Anything else I can offer for an A, G & K .....my soul perhaps? ;-)
  10. Hi Clare, When I was a donor the actual milk bank team, or Claire Kevdis (can't recall) took the blood & it was pretty efficient. Maybe phone & ask - they are very welcoming. Will depend how old your youngest child is too. Can't believe they are down to ten donors - please, please help if you can ladies.
  11. Giving birth is a natural function, not an illness. Everyone should have the choice to give birth in the place they feel most relaxed. Personally being at home with the undivided attention of two midwives was way more preferable than being in hospital. OP, sorry to say I'm pretty sure the Brierley will be unable to help if you want a hospital birth. You could consider hiring a private midwife who could meet you in advance & be with you as a birth partner, but it isn't a cheap option. Good luck whatever you decide. (Still shaking my head in despair at New Mothers post.....sigh).
  12. I think it may have finished Moos - very annoying. I'd like the L & T please. Shall we post of meet up? Or I can pop to u on Saturday - Hubby & DD1 away all weekend so 2.5 year old & I swanning around pleasing ourselves!!
  13. For sleep on your side put a pillow (or 2) under your knee to raise the upper leg, so the pelvic joint is not being stretched. I had problems with my Sacriliac (sp?) Joint & it was horrible, like being stabbed with a sharp knife in the hip/back. You need an urgent referral on this. Good luck.
  14. Yes, it has become an obsession, on the fridge I swore would stay magnet free (sigh). We Need: A C G K L P Y Can offer in exchange: E F I J Q S U W X
  15. Arghh I've just sold loads off 2nd hand sorry... If you contact Wendy at The Nappy Lady I'm sure she would post some at very low postage if that's all you need - call her on the number on the website. (If Snowboarder can't sort you out).
  16. Is she listening to music...if a CD player in her room could you do a mix of music she might enjoy & some that connect to your school days?
  17. Hi all, My other half was working today, so I took a gamble and jumped on a bus into town with my 2 girls. We ended up at Trafalgar Square, where West End Live 2011 is on (today and tomorrow). Loads of acts from all the big shows playing live on stage, with massive screens to make sure you can see even if you're right at the back. Tents along the back with loads of stuff - Science Museum tent had various 'experiments' for the children to join in with, other London attractions also have stands and have stuff like face painting, competitions to win free entry to their museum/whatever, balloons, crown making, model making, masks and stuff to try on, and people dressed as Jack Sparrow (our hero), Ghostbusters etc. to have photos taken with. It's all free, and we had a fantastic day despite the rain. Somehow managed to be inside a tent every time it came down, and outside when the sun shone - phew!

  19. Re the original post, I can't say I was ever confused about how long to breastfeed for - in my mind it was 'at least 6 months' but pretty much as long as possible. In the end 16 months ish first time around and the day before 2nd birthday for no.2 (because my OH wanted me back LOL), and it was time really :)) Do people really get confused about how long they should (if possible) breastfeed for? If so I am very surprised. Interested to hear more EMC. Personally I'm sorry this thread went down the route it did (again). I have no doubt that the majority of women go into Motherhood hoping to breastfeed, some of us are lucky and find it easy, some of us struggle but get there, and for some of us it just doesn't work out. It is an issue that has to be handled with kid gloves, every single time. Here's an interesting thing, when I was a milk donor for the Kings Milk Bank, one of the ladies there told me that some of the nurses in the Special Care Baby Unit were much more 'pro' the donor milk than others, and that you could often tell which nurse had spoken to which parent by the stance they were taking on whether they wanted their premature baby to have donor milk or formula. When she spoke to them she didn't call it formula, she would say do you want 'donated human milk' or 'processed, powdered cows milk' for your baby? In nearly every case the parents would opt for the donated milk. This is not intended to be a judgemental statement at all. I just think it is interesting - by calling it formula, does it change the way we think of it? Does it make it sound more 'medical' more 'scientific' so to speak. Hmmm. Edited to add - all the research in the world wouldn't change my mind - as far as I'm concerned nature knows best on this and my body will produce what my baby needs...BUT if that isn't possible then I would take the next option like a shot, and right now, in this world we are in then that would be formula, and frankly if a women has no other option, what would you do. You have to put yourself in these womens shoes to understand both sides I think. I really, really loved breastfeeding, and it was thankfully easy (though not painless initially) for me to do with both my girls. From the bottom of my heart I wish I could hand that experience to every women. To this day I remember sitting and curling my toes and counting to 10 when my first daughter latched on during the first week or two ....and I know I had it easy, so cannot beging to imagine how soul destroying it must be for those who try and try without success. The fact your tried makes you a wonderful parent, trying and trying is all any of us can do when it comes to being a Mum! Love and peace ladies.
  20. My Shade-A-Babe has a solid stretchy nylon type bit which you pull down over the top of the black mesh when the baby is sleeping (or you're trying to get them to sleep) and that blacks it out more.
  21. It was bizarre, I agree. V posh rooms though...did I really spot a vase of orchids? I got the impression 24 hours of labour was a rare thing over there - did it seem that way to you too?
  22. Also I remember last summer someone warning us that babies can still get sunburnt through a muslin, so be wary...
  23. Jennyh - the baby can see out of the shade a babe (I know as I tried it myself LOL), it's a bit like tinted windows on a car. Also mine has a zip down window you can open to give a bit more visibility if need be. I saw a Bee in parent facing mode the other day & wondered why the Mum was letting the child's feet get wet, thought the cover was on upside down - now I know it's just a nightmare LOL. There had to be something wrong, even with the buggy everyone seems to rave about....back to my theory of no such thing as the perfect buggy.
  24. Or the Church Hall on Red Post Hill where the NCT sales take place (trying to remember the name of it)...it charges by the hour for the hall and has a lovely garden.
