  1. BST, my Beco (Ecobaby) is almost identical to an Ergo, looks like the Beco Butterfly i think, with a built in hood, and in lovely patterned fabric on one side. The new Beco seems more padded to me. I got the Ergo to compare & so I could keep one in the car at all times & have to say I find little difference between the 2 slings. I find the slings so useful now, especially for days out in town when C can pretty much walk all day but might need a quick lunchtime snooze for an hour. You feel so free when not lumping a buggy around Very glad I had dinky girls though I must say!!
  2. LWL - I find that with the Ergo they are just as happy on your back, and it seems much better for the carrier, as less strain on your back than with the forward facing front carry position. It takes a bit of practice to get used to getting them in and out of the sling with the back carry, but you soon get used to is - I used to sit on a chair or the edge of the bed to practice. Now my 2 year old just clambers into position herself if I sit on the chair with the sling clipped around my waist LOL! The Beco is very similar, just in prettier fabrics - I've got 1 of each, though my Beco is quite old...from the days when they were called Eco Baby...you are welcome to borrow one of them to try for a week if you like? PM me. Molly
  3. It is only in recent years they have started to lock the gates, and frankly I don't see the point, given that there are still ways to get in, which plenty of people know about. And before anyone says it is to keep out the vandals...If they want to get in and do harm, they will do whether the gates are locked or not....if the gates are left open there are likely to be more people around which is surely a good thing? I wish they'd just leave the gates open. It isn't just dog walkers who want to get into the park early - plenty of us are out running at 6am, and would rather be able to do so around the park than on the roads. Fairly regularly the railings get bent or cut through to make access points, which they then have to pay someone to repair - if the gates were not locked in the first place there wouldn't be any need for the railings to be damaged. I'm not sure it's fair to ask them to open the gates earlier, but I do think they could simply leave them unlocked at least during the summer months so we can all enjoy the park at the times we can get there, whether that be early, late or during the day......
  4. Hmmm I wonder if the x thousand (10-20 if I recall correctly) ended up being clawed back....it wouldn't surprise me, but if so what a shame.....
  5. Thanks F, The planning app / notice of closure on the entrance by the works says it includes water play....will check out the plans when on a proper PC.
  6. Fab - give me a bell if it's easier to arrange a meet up that way, I live in Nunhead, but am often to be found lurking around East Dulwich too! Mobile is 07977 130318.
  7. Does anyone knows more about this? What feels now like many, many moons ago, I put in two consecutive Cleaner, Greener, Safer tenders for funding to get some sort of water play put in at the park - we were awarded money from both bids - can't recall how much now but it seemed like a lot at the time. I know some was used to get rid of the old derelict pool, (sad, but it was decided it was in a bad location for a number of reasons), and the rest was to be used for some sort of new water play. Last I knew they were waiting to see what was happening with the 1 o'clock club, but it did sound like that was where the water play was going to go. It's taken this long - 4/5 years I'd say to finally get it started but reading the sign that was up the other day it does sound as if that is what is now happening - rennovation of the play area to include some sort of water play. I'm really pleased, but no longer a part of the process, and my contacts at the council are no longer there so I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly what is being done? I know there has been talk about whether the 1 o'clock club was in danger of closing, but this work/investment seems to suggest otherwise I hope.
  8. For the step up stool I have a couple, but the best used one is just a plastic step I got from Farmers on Lordship Lane. It wasn't expensive, and I was able to choose a colour to match our bathroom. It is higher than the usual step up stools, which means it works at both the sink and the loo, even for a dinky 2 year old. Hope this helps. Molly
  9. Hi, yes I've got loads still languishing in a box - used to have them available during my nappy demos and still have plenty left. They are ?10 each but I'd do them for a bit less if you wanted more than 1. You can in theory use any necklace, but these are specifically designed for the job - so made from special stuff, tested for strength so will not snap under pressure/pulling and can be chewed, sucked or whatever. Also in assorted bright shapes and colours, or with bells etc. (or plainer ones for those who don't want anything too gaudy) but all designed to stimulate baby - even very simple black, white and red ones which are specifically for new borns. Personally I swear by them - DD1 really, really hurt me and developed lots of bad habits - she was obsessed with tweaking the nipple she wasn't feeding on, and if I tried to cover it/stop her would scratch me in efforts to get to it or get very, very cross. With DD2 I had 2 or 3 different necklaces which I wore from day one. She always went for those rather than me and never developed the bad habits at all. Phew. I know others who also have had similar experiences, and even if baby has started to scratch or hair pull you can often break the habit by wearing the necklace - especially if you hide it away and only get it out and wear it during feeds so it's a real novelty. I really wish I had known about them the first time around. Each of mine is in its own sealed bag, with all the info about their manufacture, testing regarding strength and so on. The reason I decided to stock and sell them was to save people having to go on line and pay P&P on top of the cost of the actual product as you can't find them in the high street. If you want to have a rummage through the box I've got just give me a shout via PM and we can sort out a time and place. Best wishes, Molly
  10. I love them both Pickle. One of my favourite items for baby C was a next knitted vest, cream with blue and pink hearts on the front which she wore with long sleeve t-shirts and jeans or cords. It finally got too small - was somewhere around her belly button with a gap between it and the top of her trousers, but see absolutely no reason why girls can't wear knitted vests (tank tops as I call them - is that terribly 80's of me?). Given how much work goes into them I, for a hand knit I think your prices are very fair, and I think the dress idea is also excellent for girls. Well done you, I love knitting, especially cable stuff, but hate the sewing up - yours looks so neat. Good luck with the stall. Molly xx
  11. Buggie That is so useful, I'm going to write it on a label & stick it inside my meds cabinet....thank you. My family doc actually said same as you - too many people under dose, if child is I'll five them the maximum stated dose & also v important to use right meds for age - I.e. Buy the stronger stuff for my six year old, which I hadn't bothered to do up to that point (IIRC she was 5.5 at the time).
  12. Might be worth talking to BC Bikes by Goose Green - no idea if they can get right size tyres, but they are very local and handy? I've only got standard tyres on my Mountain Buggy, not sure you need the extra heavy duty ones unless you're going to do some 'serious' off roading (we've done walks in Derbyshire etc. OK, only got tough when we did paths over a moor that had some seriously big cracks/mega rocks etc......) Should have taken the back pack really for that walk - you live and learn! M
  13. I too have heard the Ergo is 'the only one' a few friends have managed to wear and feed baby at the same time. On their website there is an actual film you can watch of how to adjust it to wear whilst feeding- or at least there was a couple of years ago when I was looking. Hope you get sorted!
  14. Really hope you are successful - I've voted! Good luck. :)-D
  15. We used a Baby Dan playpen to cordon off a dangerous bit of the garden, or when having a BBQ etc no good if steps are for getting to & from the garden though. Foam & gaffa tape?? It's only really an issue for 1 summer I found, at the just crawling/walking stage then they are ok mostly (as much as they ever are!).
  16. Thanks IanR - I used an online app to resize them, guess that was why I lost the jpg extension.
  17. Sorry about that Sue. They are jpegs, I can email or text them to you if you PM me with contact details.
  18. Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm slightly concerned that any self-respecting > child will try and shimmy up the tall wooden > structure to get into the tree. Is that just me? Ah, don't worry, no doubt Southwark Council will be sending someone in to massacre that poor tree soon too..... :'(
  19. Photos as promised....the pruned and unpruned are only just coming into blossom, but you will see their potential in the photo of a tree right next to them, which was marked up to be done next.....
  20. My complaint was Harlescott Rd in Nunhead - not quite ED I know, but I've seen it happen here too as I work in ED. James - thank you so much for your support on this, please keep me in the loop.
  21. It drives me crazy, we have a lot of the old Ladybird books from our childhood which we read to our girls, the wolves and trolls etc are truly scary & they love the stories. Hate all this PC madness.
  22. I thought the same Belle - he had a long old haul poor little man. I loved the Italian couple too, thought they were so funny & sweet together. Beautiful baby too.
