  1. I would like to highly recommend Vic and Carl. Vic and his son Carl have just finished a few jobs for me: they fixed some rotten decking and I then asked them back to jet wash and re-oil the whole decking. Great job! Yesterday they came to put together a trampoline with a safety net which I had just bought for my daughter. The instructions said that it would take two people, two hours. They put it together for me in less than 1 hour! Very friendly and efficient team. Most importantly, my daughter is very happy indeed! Highly recommended.

  3. Nope - Ashbourne, Chesterfield and Bassano street will be the parking lot (more than now) for those avoiding the CPZ. Hurrah...(from a resident of Chesterfield.

Completely agree. It's a pretty obvious outcome of the proposals as they stand. Melbourne South, Ashbourne and Chesterfield are going to bear the brunt of displaced parking commuters, and even residents of the new CPZ zone who don't want to buy a residents permit. Dos anyone know why they are excluding these roads from the proposals?
  5. Good luck, from a Chesterfield Grove neighbour!
  6. I too have had ?25 debited but no receipt, or sticker as yet
  7. Hi - can anyone recommend an electrician who will repair the cut cord of a hedge trimmer (I would like the cut end re-fitted to the hedge trimmer, rather than a block connector repair)? Or an electrical appliance repair shop in the area who will do this? Many thanks
  8. I too can recommend Daniel. He is currently treating my lower back pain and has got me up and running again. literally.
  9. Congratulations on such a great initiative. I love the fact the ED is able to offer street artists the exposure they often struggle to get, compared to conventional 'canvas' artists. Well done! I have voted.
  10. My daily commute is to Green Park from the Goose Green end of Lordship Lane: Any double decker bus to Denmark Hill station and then the train to Victoria. The 38 bus from Victoria station goes down Piccadilly and stops at Green Park station. This morning my commute took 45 minutes door to door.
  11. Sorry to hear that the Cabin is closing down, I liked it there. Did the owner say what was happening to the place?
  12. Dave Reilly has just finished some re-plastering and damp fixing at my house. I can highly recommend him. He was quick, efficient and also tidy! We're getting him back to do some other bits and pieces around the house. I've used some of the national damp specialists people in the past and I've always had the feeling that they're quoting me for work that doesn't really need doing... I didn't get the same with Dave and as I've said, I will be using him again.

James Barber - do you agree with this? I would be interested to hear what you think can be done to pressurize the planning committee into taking note of neighbours objections.
  14. That's the main problem here. The council is up against a very well funded backer of the planning application, meaning that the council is reluctant to object to any proposal by them as they would need to finance the legal argument, or deal with the subsequent appeal. Let's all just go home...
  15. Agree completely with worldwiser. James - it's the disruption to the lives of the residents of Chesterfield Grove that is the main concern to my neighbours and me. We already have to suffer the constant Iceland delivery lorries hurtling down our road, a bigger supermarket will only make things worse. Coupled with this, the additional vehicles that will be parking on Chesterfield Grove to visit the new M&S AND the parking requirements of the new residents of the proposed flats! My elderly neighbours already find themselves having to park a couple of streets away because of the lack of parking spaces available on our road.
  16. Yes, it looks like corrugated concrete/ asbestos sheets. That's re-assuring. Thanks
  17. thanks nunhead_man Ideally want to find someone who will take down the asbestos as well as remove it from the property. It seems that cityoflondon will collect only.
  18. can anyone recommend/ has anyone used a builder to remove asbestos safely in ED? Roof of our shed turns out to be asbestos and we need it removed. Thanks!
  19. Looking for a recommendation of a company or qualified person to repair/ service my gas fire. Just moved in to to my new place in ED and would like to get the gas fire serviced before we need it in Winter (we like to plan ahead..). Many thanks!
  20. My wife heard the objector at the meeting yesterday raise this, however, the development representatives made it very clear that this has already been refuted, and they had the legal documentation to prove it.
  21. James - my wife was at the planning meeting yesterday (we're residents of Chesterfield Grove). It seemed that the increase in parking space requirements with a larger supermarket wasn't on the agenda. Is it thought that this just won't be a problem, or that nothing can be done about it?
  22. Hey Jam - I was on this site looking for a builder and came across your thread. Random. I am not a trained teacher but I'm half Spanish (grew-up in Spain before moving to UK) - I'm bi-lingual. I've always wanted to learn guitar (classic/Spanish). You still interested in doing this swap or have you found someone? Harry
  23. I used Woody's flooring (woodysflooringuk.com) for a property in Battersea. He was very good. I'm sure he'll come to ED. His name is Jonathan.
  24. We're finally geared-up to have a new kitchen and whilst we're at it, explore extending it to the back and side (i think it's called a side return). Any recommendations for a local builder with experience of doing this? Ideally someone who can project manage the whole thing - drawings, planning applications etc. cheers!
