  1. For anyone who missed this elsewhere today, this wonderful list is now up on Deserter: http://deserter.co.uk/do-not-touch-this-button/ TDR

Been there > around longer than many of the Peckham pubs Cheers, spider69. Yes, we didn't quite make it to The Village. I haven't been in The Prince Albert since it was refurbed, but was pleased to see they still advertise the footy and other TV sport. And I remember The Wishing Well (as it was before Victoria Inn) fondly. Nice outside sun trap - especially in the afternoon ;) TDR
  3. Found these photos of The (old) Hope, then and now, that didn't get used in the article. Be interested in any other photos (and stories) of the old pubs. eg, Lord Lyndhurst, The Grummant Arms, The Bun House TDR
  4. I have written a piece for Deserter on Peckham. A little bit on history, a little bit on hipsters, and a lot on pubs: http://deserter.co.uk/2016/02/peckham-bar-stories/ (My friend Half-life came along too, so there is also swearing throughout. Soz.) TDR
  5. Couldn't agree more about Blythe Hill Tavern, malumbu! It featured in a piece on Catford (by colleague, Dirty South), which has just been updated with latest Catford news: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/11/the-twin-towers-of-catford/ TDR
  6. Hi all, I thought some of you might be interested in my write-up of a recent visit to Forest Hill that was published on Deserter this week. As usual there is some drinking and swearing. I really can't help it, sorry. http://deserter.co.uk/2015/10/forest-with-a-big-hill/ TDR
  7. Blogged (Or at least, updated) http://deserter.co.uk/2014/10/pubwatch-herne-hill-dulwich/ TDR

  9. Hi all, My piece about why I fell for Dulwich Hamlet FC was re-posted on Deserter this week: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/07/11-reasons-to-follow-dulwich-hamlet-fc/ Since writing it, I've thought of a 12th reason which I should/would have included (perhaps it can come on as a sub): The history The club was born in the Victorian era, featured such footballing greats as Tommy Jover, Bert Coleman and Edgar Kail (the last amateur to play for England) and its old stadium saw arrendances of up to 20,000 in its heyday. There is more on it here: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/dulwichhamlet/a/club-history-30677.html TDR
  10. Hi all, I wrote a piece about Clapham, where I lived on and off. It's sweary, of course (Half-life is there) http://deserter.co.uk/2015/07/clapham-omnibus/ If anyone has any photos of Clapham in the 80s or 90s I'd be very keen to see them and maybe use them in the piece. TDR

Not entirely, but I did do a walk along the route of the Coal Line that inevitably involved a couple... http://deserter.co.uk/2014/12/peckham-walking-the-coal-line/ And then there was the local arts tour... http://deserter.co.uk/2015/03/south-london-arts-holes-2/ TDR
  13. Thanks for the feedback! As promised, here's a link to our Tumblr with lots of pics I couldn't fit in, including then and nows of The Kings Arms, Nags Head, the lido... http://deserterblog.tumblr.com/
  14. Thanks John - that was interesting - I hadn't seen it from that angle before. I'll post some additional images from the piece and put a link here, tomorrow hopefully TDR
  15. Hi John, I do have a picture of the original pub (the one that was bombed) but not the one that was built post-war, that turned into the night club.
  16. Meant to say, I was unable to find a picture of the Kings on the Rye anywhere. If anyone knows of one I'd love to see it. TDR
  17. Hi all, I drank my way round Peckham Rye and lived to tell the tale: http://deserter.co.uk/2015/06/the-ballad-of-peckham-rye/ TDR

  21. Hi all, I wrote a piece about the Old Kent Road and its landmarks for Deserter: http://deserter.co.uk/2015/05/streetlife-old-kent-road/ There is a lot of swearing. And a map. TDR

Yes, please, El Pibe. TDR
  23. El Pibe, Saw this in the fanzine - brilliant. Did you do it? When can we expect the DHFC graphic novel? TDR
  24. Evening all, I wrote little thing about West Norwood, past and present, that may be of interest to some of you. http://deserter.co.uk/2015/04/we-know-west-norwood/ I'm ashamed to say that it's full of swearing, sex and drug references. They keep asking me to desist, but I can't, they're my favourite things. TDR
