  1. Thought for the day: What happened after the Bishop of Southwark left Christmas drinks at the Irish Embassy? I piece I wrote for Deserter: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/12/im-the-bishop-of-southwark/ TDR
  2. I wrote a piece for Deserter on how to survive Christmas: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/11/deserting-at-christmas/ Please feel free to add your own. Together, we'll make it! TDR
  3. I've written another post for Deserter - this time on the delights of Penge: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/11/the-pick-of-penge/ TDR
  4. I would favour either Fri 30th Jan (start at lunch so half day off) or Sat 31st and try to take in the Hamlet game at 3pm! Btw, I've written another post for Deserter - this time on the delights of Penge: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/11/the-pick-of-penge/ TDR
  5. Superb work! I will consult the Calendar. Could people do a weekday if given enough notice, or is a weekend preferable (most likely Sunday)? TDR
  6. Yes, the P13 would mean 13 pubs. I would suggest that in the 'clusters' (eg the pubs mentioned above in Streatham and Tulse Hill) it would be allowable to do a half in each. Blimey, though, there are already some crackers in those lists - it almost seems rude to do a half. Maybe with a good breakfast (plus remembering to eat lunch, dinner) and by sticking to session ale it would be achievable to have 13 pints between, say, noon and midnight. Now I've thought about it, I can't think of a better way to spend a day...
  7. Hi, I wrote a piece for Deserter about what the P4 is really for. http://deserter.co.uk/2014/11/taking-the-ps/ Anyone got any thoughts about the P5, P12 and P13? TDR PS As ever, it's sweary

  9. Oops - well-spotted Jah Lush - now corrected. Bet that was something to behold for a ten-year-old - better than firework night! TDR
  10. Hi, I wrote a new piece for Deserter about Crystal Palace http://deserter.co.uk/2014/11/crystal-palace/ As ever, I'd love to hear people's views on what I liked (and missed!) TDR
  11. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dulwich Estate is Arsene Wenger and > the Grove is Nicklas Bendtner - what can they do? > Superb. Thanks everyone for the feedback on the piece and, more importantly, your thoughts and wisdom on the subject. Trying not to think too much about pubs today due to deep hangover, but hopefully nothing a fry-up at Johnnies won't fix. TDR
  12. What have the Half Moon, The Grove and the Crown & Greyhound got in common? You can't get a blinkin' pint in any of them. I wrote a piece for Deserter on it: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/10/pubwatch-herne-hill-dulwich/ Would love to hear people's thoughts on the matter. TDR PS It might be a bit sweary
  13. I devised a 'beer triangle' taking in three of my favourite watering holes in Queens Road Peckham, Crofton Park/Brockley and Gipsy Hill. I would have gone through East Dulwich too, but we got stuck... http://deserter.co.uk/2014/10/the-best-bar-in-the-world/ TDF
  14. Thank you for your comments about the Lordship Lane piece on Deserter. I quite like you all. FYI, Half-life has the sideboard. He does not post on the EDF - he has only ever bought one computer (an Amiga 4000T) and it's still in its box. I've got a new piece about getting wellied on the water: http://deserter.co.uk/2014/09/booze-ahoy/

  16. Baggs Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You should change your name to TLDR but otherwise > a very entertaining update. Genius. Maybe when I die, as in The Late Dulwich Raider? Then I can put something on the tombstone that's too dull to read.
  17. Wow - thanks for the responses. Was expecting a lot of "But you missed out this and missed out that..." (which I have - it's a frickin' long road) Love and pints, TDR
  18. Has Lordship Lane been ruined by organic shallots? I spent a day on it to find out. http://deserter.co.uk/2014/09/streetlife-lordship-lane-se22/ TDR
  19. Oops, think I should have posted this in the General forum... Sorry Admin! I will re-post and you can delete this one. TDR
  20. Sneak preview of my Streetlife piece on Lordship Lane, for Deserter. http://deserter.co.uk/2014/09/streetlife-lordship-lane-se22/ TDR
  21. Fair point, Nigella. I doubt whether the poster maker or poster putter-uppers are reading this corner of the forum, but suggest we all just take them down when passing. TDR
  22. A challenge, indeed. I understand there were 811 present on Tuesday for the game against Margate, so we will need to more than double that (and that in itself was quite a high attendance for an evening game) One thing's for sure, everyone who was there for that astonishing match will be returning tomorrow if they possibly can. Here's the winning goal, on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152685165889847 TDR
  23. Just posted this in a new thread - should have spotted this one first! It's Non-league Day tomorrow so come and support your local non-league side, Dulwich Hamlet FC In addition, it is "Pay what you want" on the gate. Once costs have been covered, Dulwich Hamlet will be making a donation to two homeless charities: The Robes Project & UK Homes 4 Heroes. Come and help us set a modern era attendance record (1,835)! Here is a reminder of why it's easy to fall for the Pink 'n' Blues: 11 Reasons to Follow Dulwich Hamlet FC http://deserter.co.uk/2014/07/11-reasons-to-follow-dulwich-hamlet-fc/ TDR
