  2. Sorry if it's been mentioned before, but cul-de-sacs off the wrong side of the south circular may become expensive car parks. Residents of Allison Grove and Ryecotes Mead are potentially looking forward to driving 20 yards out of their road, spending a whole day driving outside the ULEZ and then returning home to find that those last few yards have cost them ?12.50.

"Petrol cars that meet the ULEZ standards are generally those registered with the DVLA after 2005, although cars that meet the standards have been available since 2001. Diesel cars that meet the standards are generally those registered with the DVLA after September 2015." I don't think many cars will be excluded - ?500-?1000 will get you a post 2005 car on eBay.

Just to be clear, ALL vehicles need to be taxed, even if there is nothing to pay. The GOV.UK website states "You must tax your vehicle even if you don?t have to pay anything, for example if you?re exempt because you?re disabled."
  5. I can't see the problem... Both the Streetview and satellite view show "give way" markings at the end of Court Lane.
  6. sunbob Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think Piermont Green is a private road and so it > would be paid for by residents/owners? For a long > time there was a small sign on the lamppost saying > private road no parking... Southwark Council's road list doesn't have a designation for the road (Public Highway, Private Road etc.) but it does state that it is "Maintained by LBS Env & Leisure Services Dept."
  7. I don't think you've upset anyone, and I don't think anyone is trivialising your experience. But I suspect that a lot of people, like me, try to picture the situation being described in posts like yours. And driving "east along Lordship lane ... from Felbrigg road to Overhill road" is something difficult to get your head around, especially since Felbrigg doesn't come to a junction with Lordship Lane. I guess you mean that you started at Felbrigg and finished at Overhill and went via (say) Hansler and then Lordship Lane.
  8. P.S. I'm not a crossing junkie - I remember this because it was a round on "Pointless" many moons ago...

For the sake of accuracy... A Puffin crossing is a Pedestrian User Friendly (F) INtelligent crossing - if you press the button but then cross before the lights change then a detector should spot that there's nobody waiting and won't hold up road traffic unnecessarily. The crossing for pedestrians and cyclists is called a "Toucan" crossing (because two (bikes and pedestrians) can cross).

  11. Sorry, but it's bugging me... Is "All Fired Up" pottery still there...

I suspect that Veolia don't have the resources or inclination to recycle working goods as such. Anything put through their (and to be fair, ANY) recycling centre will be broken up for reusable metals/plastics. As as been mentioned here before I believe, the British Heart Foundation will accept working electrical goods (and will collect them). Here's a link... https://www.bhf.org.uk/shop/donating-goods/what-to-donate

Again, not being sure if that was tongue-in-cheek, I did some research... https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/304539/response/743279/attach/html/3/Arnold%20Price%20FOI%20490138.pdf.html ... so where's the 300m stretch of road? Apparently even Islington Council don't know about it!
  17. worldwiser Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ... Most councils charge by the day (eg Islington 57/day + 85) ... That seemed so exorbitant that I just had to check! Islington charge ?85 per month. The ?57 per day charge only applies to skips in parking bays, presumably to recompense the Council for the loss of parking revenue.

  21. This is the message you get when you click to attach a file; I think the middle two lines sum it up... Attach a file or photo No file can be larger than 614KB All files together cannot be larger than 614KB 3 more file(s) can be attached to this message
  22. I've got a couple of files that I downloaded from Southwark at some time in the past 6 months or so. They're called ATRACK_Layout1 and ATRACK_Layout2 (pdf) but they're each a couple of kb over the download limit. I've attached a section of a screenshot. They show the swept area for coaches turning from/to Townley/EDG. I'm afraid I can't remember exactly how I came by them, but it would have been from a link posted on this thread. I think they relate to the final layout (it looks like it) but I can't guarantee it.

  25. Hi... I've looked at the Southwark Council website to see if I can report this online, but the closest I can find is for illuminated road signs... The traffic lights at the junction of Turney Road, Dulwich Village and Court Lane are inserting a pedestrian phase into every change from Turney/Court traffic to Dulwich Village traffic and into the change back. The pedestrian buttons at the end of Turney Road seem to be permanently "pressed". This may not notice during peak hours as the buttons are liable to have been pressed anyway, but at 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning it becomes disproportionately irritating to sit at the junction waiting for a pedestrian phase, the crossing traffic phase and then another pedestrian phase before one can legally enter a junction which has been clear the entire time. Any chance of getting someone to look at this? - Thanks
