  1. Unfortunately your website also mentions 'queueing traffic night and day' so its hard to take it as an objective view at all. I agree that there are certain times of day that traffic is queueing on East Dulwich Grove. On the section between Lordship Lane and Townley this has always been the case around 8-8:30 and that continues. By 8:30/45 most days it is clear. There are similar peaks in the evening. The rest of the day speeding is more of an issue than queueing traffic. I have no opinion on the section between Townley and Red Post Hill as I don't have experience of walking along there at rush hours.
  2. There was something though - like a summary of each of the decisions that was attached to the agenda - isn't that available still?
  3. Paint is tricky to dispose of - unless you can 'donate' it at the reuse / recycling place you're not supposed to put it in the bin or in skips in its paint form!
  4. Anyway - back to new shops before this thread gets lounged (and it is pretty useful). Anyone know anything about the vermouth place? The old betting place opposite the station in ED hasn't been let yet so will be interesting to see what business can pay rates of 75k pa there! We must at some point meet pizza saturation! Anything new opening on northcross in the empty units on there? Also had heard that the old Franklins farm shop was going to be a greengrocers but haven't walked by for a while - is that likely to open soon? Basically still hoping for something more along the lines of 'pretty traditional' or the one that used to be in Herne Hill by the station.
  5. I?d agree Alice- doesn?t feel like an appropriate use of those funds. Surely that?s the kind of thing the estate has some responsibility for?
  6. I think that is fair, and I had heard about the German issues. Do we know how France is getting on with them as believe they?re also widely used there
  7. Despite having seen that floor outside Blue Mountain 100s of times over the years I?d never made the connection, even though now it seems obvious. Hopefully at some point in the future it can be uncovered
  8. I joined the council meeting on the grants and seem to remember a long discussion about how the beds on court needed far more spending on them and so granting anything from CGS would be ineffective. Can?t remember the detail any more but sure it?s in the minutes of that meeting- there was a summary of each bid and outcome I think
  9. Don?t you think though that the current crazy situation of hiring being ok but not privately owned adds to it. If you owned the scooter you could get used to it?
  10. I had thought it was going to open, but it?s been like that so long that I?m no wondering if it?s just an advert. The nunhead one looks great though. 11. I'm not disagreeing with this - but I'm pointing out that in terms of covid the council needs to take actions - it has, and so that might take longer to fix (eg ending social distancing). Whereas the bus stop should just be opened regardless of whether the barriers are removed.
  12. Marvellous Greens and Beans is now open by the station in East Dulwich (in what was the old library!) - just popped in and it looks really nice. Mostly fruit and veg but with a decent refill section of dried pulses, beans, nuts etc. Coffee was good too. https://www.marvellousgreensandbeans.com/landing-page/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw8vqGBhC_ARIsADMSd1D3EiACI46jN5zf_PN-qgAaGLvJx-qtq_Nar2KHInWYMeDVFfFynrMaAlfzEALw_wcB
  13. I think that the question as to whether the barriers on the other side go will be dependent on when social distancing is officially ended - but lets not wrap the two up together. There is no logical reason to keep the bus stop closed and it should be reopened. Separately there is a question as to whether the pavement widening needs to be retained, but I'd avoid joining the points together as can see that could delay the bus stop reopening.
  14. No - i can't because its factually incorrect. The hangers might not have visible bikes in them - but they are full with a waiting list - see link: https://community.cyclehoop.rentals/resultsmap?postalCode=se22 Metalic - do you have anything helpful at all to add or are you just here to snark?
  15. But the hangers are full with a waiting list - even the ones you think look empty. Looking at SE22 the only street i could find that was't full was the one on Upland Road. The thing I'd take from all hangers being full and having a waiting list is that more cycle storage is needed.
  16. Exactly this - if you look at something like google streetview on historic images you can see that the opposite side has always been fully parked up. The barriers aren't as wide as the cars were so it doesn't seem a reason to leave the bus stop closed.
  17. According to bike hanger all three of those hangers are full and you can go on the waiting list. The thread was started by James McAsh - in terms of specifics for Dunstans Road you'd be better off asking your own councillors who I think are the Dulwich Hill ones?
  18. Thank you - really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I had seen that section of the website but it indicated that the ensembles might have been limited to strings / keyboard club and steel pans with more 'planned' which didn't sound very definite! Its good to hear there is more. I think that one of the things that the school does need to do more generally (and probably not just Charter) is make sure its website is as up to date as possible given that we have been in a position where parents can't visit potential schools with children for so long, it means the reliance placed on the website is greater than it was previously!
  19. I think there is still a random perception that its narrow and needs to be closed for 'social distancing'. As we know its a bit ridiculous as others are more congested. So would support reopening. Suggest people write to their local councilor to ask for attention to be given to it!
  20. No - not at all. Never met her or had anything to do with her, but I am fed up with this rubbishing of 'experts' because what, we know better? It all just feels a bit brexity. Feel free to share other research from other academics writing on this subject and people can consider, but right now what we seem to have is 'no, experts don't know - I, man on the street who uses my eyes can see much more clearly' which frankly isn't much of a pushback!
  21. Were you just making sure people had the relevant understanding of the Sunday Times rating in your last comment then?
  22. That's the overall rating but not reflective necessarily of individual departments. I feel that we've now reached the 'try to discredit anyone who disagrees with you phase'. Heartblock made a criticism of the research which is reasonable to do. Others may disagree with these comments, but they are not at least focused on Professor Aldred personally or attempting to discredit because you feel the University isn't 'eminent' enough.
  23. I assume the society will update members on the outcome
  24. Interested in the music department info Coach Beth. From the website it doesnt' look like Charter East has much music provision- essentially just steel pans as an extra curricular option, whereas Charter North seems to have an orchestra / ensembles. Is this not the case? I know that the music rooms are being built now, but would be interested to understand experience. We are considering Kingsdale for their music provision, so would be interested to hear about Charter ED.
  25. My point was that Alice wasn't closely inspecting the data - she was making a throw away comment that seems to have no basis and yet once said will allow others to say - "i'd heard that she has an interest in Dulwich as her parents / aunt whatever live there". Feel free to critically review the data, I think that is reasonable - but the point is that such reviews should be based on this data and not what you think you once heard or not! heartblock Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well, close inspection of data, is not > 'rubbishing' research, it is part of the important > scientific inspection and critical analysis that I > teach. > > Students are taught to critically review published > research -Was the data collection valid?
