Begin your day with this Garden Immersion session, which will take inspiration from the thoughtful practice of 'forest bathing', a form of active mindfulness when walking in nature. 30 Days Wild Start #30DaysWild nice and early with the Centre for Wildlife Gardening team! We will encourage you to draw upon all five of your senses, helping you to identify local wildlife, native trees and shrubs so you leave feeling refreshed, relaxed and rested at the start of your day. Parents of babies (under 12 months), and parents-to-be, are very much encouraged to join in.   2. Sun, 19/03/2017 - 11:00am - 4:00pm Free open day for all celebrating toads, amphibians and ponds. Everywhere you look at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening you will find toads. Toad Day is our day to celebrate them in all their amphibian wonder. Throughout the day we will have toad, pond and ambhibian related activties for all the family including pond dipping, quizzes, crafts and trails. We will be running this day in partnership with London Wildlife Trust's Lost Effra project. Learn how ponds and other clever rainwater collection systems can help widlife and London.   3. Drop in to free, fun family activities run by London Wildlife Trust every Saturday at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening. If you and your family want to learn more about the wildlife around you in London join us at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening on Saturdays. Tomorrow we will be lighting fires, looking for signs of Spring and creating some wild art. Morning Session: 10.30am - 12.30pm for younger children (up to 7) Afternoon Session: 1.30pm - 4.30pm for older children (7 and up) All courses are for parents/carers and children together. Make clay monsters to live in the woods and find out all about identifying winter trees and how animals adapt to winter life in the woods.   11. On Sunday 4th December The Centre for Wildlife Gardening is holding its annual Tree Day! This year in partnership with the Great North Wood project. All are welcome to take part in our free, fun-packed day from 11-4 There will be tree-themed opportunities for all ages including: *tree trails *tree ID walks *tree dressing *willow and clay crafts *tree planting We will even be attempting to make ink from oak apples! There will also be the opportunity for tea, cake and to buy a tree (or several) to plant in your garden.   12. Every Saturday at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening on Marsden Road (SE15 4EE) we are running free family activities all the way through until next March (except December 24th and 31st)! Activities are different every week and include exploration opportunities, pond-dipping, bug-hunting, wildlife crafts and games.   14. At the Centre for Wildlife Gardening (28 Marsden Road, SE15 4EE) we are running activities on Saturday afternoons for 7 - 12 yr-olds. 1.30pm - 4.30pm. We are running the activities as family sessions so I'm afraid it won't help with childcare but if you are looking for some extra activities as a family hopefully it might help. While your grout dries out learn all about weeds and seeds and maybe have a go at planting a few of your own seeds. This course gives a chance to learn as a family about ways to interact with the outdoors and the natural world and will hopefully give you lots of ideas to try out at home!   20. Free family half term wildlife and bushcraft fun with London Wildlife Trust. Join us this half term for a two day course suitable for families learning about how to survive in the wild. Activities will include identifying edible plants, fire-lighting and den building. There will even be a few spooky stories told around the camp fire. Recommended for children aged 5 and up and their families. Tree Day (No booking required) 1st November, 11am ? 4pm, Centre for Wildlife Gardening A big open day to celebrate our leafy friends.
