  2. Hi, Could anyone recommend a company/tradesperson who could insulate in the gap underneath our Victorian floorboards downstairs? Thanks
  3. Hi, Does anyone know a tutor (for maths/English yr 2) who does in person sessions? My daughter is struggling a bit and we would like to give her some extra help. She needs someone kind and patient! Thanks
  4. The company I work for, Little Green Radicals, is looking for a Customer Service Advisor to join our team. We're an organic & Fairtrade children's clothing company and are usually based in Brixton (but of course all currently working from home!) It's a full-time role but we offer flexible working and will also consider a job share. It's a lovely place to work and most of us are local, living in ED, Herne Hill, West Norwood and Brixton. If you, or anyone one you know, might be interested, you can find out more here: https://littlegreenradicals.co.uk/pages/work-with-us
  5. I've been going to Annalise for a few months and wanted to post a recommendation. It's the first time I've done any personal training so started with some individual sessions as I was quite out of shape / unmotivated after having two kids and found the one on one coaching really helped me. Annalise is a great trainer - very easy going and positive and pushes me just the right amount, so I work much harder than I do on my own but without putting on pressure. I was amazed how quickly I got better at the exercises with her help and my core strength quickly improved. I'm now doing weekly small group sessions which are perfect for keeping general fitness up and I'm really enjoying them. If you'd like any more feedback then feel free to PM me.
  6. If I post in the wrong section and want to delete, how do I do it?!
  7. My husband has posted before but Errol and Richard just came back to sand another room and hallway and did such a great job. They are lovely guys, work really hard, are very trustworthy and the floors look amazing! Would highly recommend them. Happy to send pictures via PM if anyone wants to see an example of their work.
  8. Thanks very much for the advice!
  9. Hi, I'd like to join a local classical choir in September and any suggestions/recommendations would be very welcome! I used to be part of BARTS choir and have also been in an audition choir but haven't sung for 4 years so looking for something that's a good standard but ideally without auditions. Thanks
  10. My 18mth old daughter just started at Magic Moments and just wanted to praise the staff who've looked after her so well and really helped her settle in. I recommend it to anyone looking to have a few hours to look after a baby/have some alone time (!) or to introduce a child to nursery and build confidence without having to send them for a full day. For anyone who hasn't heard of it, Magic Moments is run by 4 lovely ladies who look after your child in a group from 9.45am (drop off, official start time is 10am) to 12.15am on weekdays except Wednesday's. Minimum requirement is 1 session per week during term time and cost is ?10 per session. They have supervised playtime, 'circle time' where they have a song/talk about something, a craft activity and then a story and snack before pick up. They're not full at the moment as quite a few kids that went started school in September so are open to new joiners. PM me if you'd like any more info. PS I have no affiliation to Magic Moments except that my children went/go there.
  11. Thanks for all the posts! We're looking for a new wooden sash window and it's really helpful to get some suggestions. I'll post who we go with and review in case others are looking for info in the future.
  12. Hi! I've just moved to east dulwich with a 21 months & 7 week old and would love to meet some other mums. I think there is a whatsapp group with meet ups. Is it possible to join? Juliet
  13. I was wondering if there are any playgroups around East Dulwich where you can leave your toddler each week for a few hours? Or nurseries that have morning or afternoon sessions which don't have very long waiting lists? Or does anyone use a childminder with a vacancy for 22 month old for one day a week or two mornings/afternoons? My son has been in nursery for 2 days a week since he was 1, and loves it, but we are moving to ED next month and I'm wondering if there are alternative options since I freelance so don't need him to be looked after for long days. We have a place at a nursery for 2 days a week but I'm not sure if we should take it so would love to hear if there are other options. Thanks very much for any advice you may have.
  14. Hi, I have been living abroad for the last few years but will be moving to East Dulwich in the summer. I don't have a good idea of how the nursery system works in London, except that there seem to be long waiting lists (!), but if possible I would like to put my son who will be 2 in September into a nursery or playgroup for 1 or 2 days a week (timings are flexible and can be full days or half days). Can anyone recommend any nice places in the area that might be suitable as I'm not sure where to start looking? I do part time work from home but the main reason to put him into playgroup is that I'd like him to have some time away from me socialising with other children. He goes to daycare at the moment for 2 days a week and seems to enjoy it. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  15. Hi Everyone, I'm expecting my second baby in May (also have a little boy born September 2013) and hope to join your meet ups when I move to East Dulwich in the summer!
  16. Thanks so much to everyone who replied to my question - it's really appreciated. We ended up putting in an offer on a house that was definitely in the catchment area for Goodrich but if that falls through then all this information will be very useful! Looking forward to (hopefully) becoming an ED resident soon.
  17. Hi, My family is planning to move to East Dulwich later this year. We really like Friern Road and Upland Road, in particular the section that runs between where these roads join each other (close to the Harris Academy) and Underhill Road. However I have done some research into Primary Schools as we have two young children and it isn't clear which school we'd be most likely to get into. I understand that the catchment areas change each year due to demand, but based on the last few years I was wondering if anyone either lives in this area or knows anyone there who would be happy to share which schools their children got into. I assume it would be either Goodrich (although the houses we're looking at are around 900m away which seems much too far to still be in the catchment) or the new Harris Primary opening in the East Dulwich Police Station. Any input would be much appreciated as if getting into one of the local schools will be difficult then we will look at different parts of East Dulwich. Thanks very much.
