  1. That's really bad news indeed. The Gowlett has long been one of the finest aspects of living around here - all credit to Johnny and his team. I have spent many a great time spent in there. Totally gutted.
  2. Sorry to hear about that mcj_1985. Not a nice thing to happen to anyone. Glad that you're ok. Surely it's the same moped gang who are out often in these parts? I'm sure it's not straightforward and I have no direct experience of this sort of thing, but given the regularity they're around, and the same methods often used, on the very same streets, I'm surprised it's seemingly so tricky for the authorities (police) to work out who they are and to get on top of them. I guess I echo what "Robert Poste's Child" said above. This small group of people is menacing the neighbourhood and there doesn't appear to be any willingness to clamp down on it.
  3. That is sad news. Ingrid worked very hard on bringing so much great street art to our part of London. She was someone who made a very positive difference. Condolences to the family.
  4. I have two friends (a young couple) abroad asking for an English-language school or classes in London for 3 months this year (March to May). Can anybody recommend somewhere, or where to look into this? They will also need somewhere to stay, so any recommendations on that front welcome too. Many thanks McD
  5. I just had a trap (pop-up sink plug) replaced and some bath sealant done by Aria and his brother. They seem to have done a decent job, were on time, and were pretty tidy.
  6. The same thing happened to my car in Marsden Road at some point over the last couple of days. Nothing of any real value was there to be taken, thankfully. I just wanted to warn anyone else in the area to be extra careful.
  7. I don't know about locally to East Dulwich, but there's a watch repairer in the concourse of Piccadilly Circus tube station who I've used for minor repairs, and is good. If your problems with the bezel and strap are straightforward then he should be able to sort it all out for you. The battery change is a very simple thing. Though, depending on the age of your watch, he may want to change the seals on it at the same time (again, not complicated). If your watch is at all valuable, then I would recommend you contact Duncan at Genesis Watchmaking and send it to him. He will do a first class job and should be a lot more reasonable that going through Tag Heuer: http://www.genesiswatchmaking.co.uk/
  8. Try Peter on 07588 255545 He's in Nunhead and is very reliable (been cleaning my windows for the last 5 or 6 years).
  9. I can also recommend Jackie who did an excellent job altering three pairs of trousers for me.
  10. Hi I'm looking to put together a CMS for a small website (10 pages of straightforward content), specifically using Django CMS. Is there a local freelancer out there who could implement this? You must have done a similar implementation before. Many thanks
  11. Does anyone know of a local running or cycling club that includes kids (for an 8yr-old)?
