  1. Stopped going when they wouldn’t take my cash at the gate.
  2. Pickleball played at Sydenham Tennis Club, Springfield Road, SE26 (opposite St Christopher’s Hospice). 176 and 197 bus routes.
  3. Wee Willie Harris, 90, ‘Wild Man of Rock and Roll’, inspiration to the Beatles and one of Ian Dury’s reasons to be cheerful.
  4. At the risk of appearing pedantic, Elephant & Castle isn’t a roundabout.
  5. Napoleon XIV (‘They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haa!’)
  6. Richard Weekes is a passionate advocate for chess and has been running clubs in south London for many years, including Herne Hill and Forest Hill, I believe. https://www.rwcworldwide.com/
  7. Wouldn’t it just be simpler to get the first cab off the rank?
  8. Upload a ?selfie? maybe? Or go to a post office. Pretty sure they can take your photo and deal with the paperwork.

  13. Try Lloyds Pharmacy on North Cross Road.
  14. Don't know names of the shops but there's one on Grove Lane near the George Canning pub (not used it, just saw a sign driving past), one on Peckham Rye just down from the East Dulwich Road junction going towards Rye Lane (general printing etc) and one a bit further away in Forest Hill near the old cinema (internet cafe-type place).
  15. Kelly's Post Office London Directory used to be published every year with a list of businesses for every street. No idea if any of these are still available (libraries or online, maybe?). I've just dug out a 1982 version from the attic but there's nothing to add to previous posts by way of pubs etc. There's a 'Kegs (Beers and Minerals) Ltd' listed at No. 18 Nunhead Lane, on the south side, but I can't imagine this would be what the OP was referring to as 1982 is a bit too recent.

  17. uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Tony Crossland (Charterhouse educated btw) of > Labour made sure that the working classes did not > 'get educated' by getting rid of grammar > schools... Tony Crosland was educated at Highgate (a minor public school certainly) and Trinity College, Oxford. Not Charterhouse for the record.
  18. Couldn't you just dispose of it and then wash your hands?
  19. Nigello Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If someone can borrow rather than buy then do so... Nine times out of ten I would agree, Nigello. But it sounds like the OP might be public-spirited enough to be considering voluntary litter-picking on a more regular basis, in which case it might be unnecessarily complicated to put out a request on the EDF, or elsewhere, every time. Thanks for teaching me a new word though - 'midden'!
  20. Couldn't you just buy one? They're very handy and not particularly expensive.

  22. Mine must have been delayed at Peckham Sorting Office.
