Yeah its unbelievably bad, my internet hasn't been this slow since I had to plug the telephone line into the laptop. Shame too as I quite liked VM compared to Sky, especially the superfast broadband but they need to sort it out pronto.

Get well soon Freda, that crossing is an absolute nightmare with no safe way to cross and it is completely impractical to expect pedestrian traffic to circumvent this completely. It is sad that it takes a serious accident to get the message across to the council that someone will be killed if it not made safe. @SE22cat - sad to read of what your wife and yourself had to go through and you are completely right about drivers ignoring the 20mph limit. The limits don't amount to much if your partner/child is run over by a speeding driver. Crawthew Grove is becoming dangerous as speeding drivers use it as a short-cut to and from crystal palace etc. The speed bumps are inadequate and the traffic volume is very high.

I emailed the H&G saying how gutted i was that they were leaving and they said they tried to find a new shop in ED but could not find an alternative that stacked up on the numbers. What a little gem we have lost but good luck to the owner on the new business venture.

James, I am very disappointed in your posts, it seems to completely ignore the fact you have to drag a child with an illness to A&E when all they really need is bed rest. That's the same as my employer asking for a note from my doctor if I call in sick. I usually think you do a very good job but compared to the thoughtful and intelligent post of buggie, your answer just sugarcoats a ridiculous draconian measure which you clearly support. There MUST be other solutions than punishing a sick child, end of. e.g. The school follows patterns, thresholds or whatever and investigates or manages the problems .... not make a unilateral rule.....its lazy, inconsiderate, expensive and increases pressure on health services meaning that it's potentially denying or delaying medical treatment for somone in more genuine need.

There really is a bunch of negative moaners on this forum. French/Tuscan village markets - I know them well and I love village markets for fresh produce but they sell way more tat than North Cross Road. Also, the best one's are in small villages where you actually rely on the markets to load up with fruit and vege. It is not reasonable to expect on the streets of east dulwich so why bother comparing. As for portobello road, its not a market it is a crammed procession of tourists on a saturday morning with virtually zero chance of browseing in any sort of peace. Camden is not much better. North Cross Road is a small market that serves the local community. Fresh produce including pasta, salami and olives, cheese/fudge/meat/fish and street food is hardly tat. While not country france I am happy enough with the fruit and veg from prettys and smbs....you should try buying fruit and veg in Australia you will pay 3 times the price for half the range. Also some small businesses selling pet products, beautiful french pottery and yes some "tat" but I have never once had a hard sell and who am I to decide what someone else wants to purchase.

I am sure this has been raised at some point but I noticed that ED is now home to yet another estate agent in Jackons. As I waited for my bus to work a few days ago I watched them putting up the sign and wondered if we would get an interesting little shop or maybe a sushi place or whatever. The sign then went up and I saw it was yet another estate agent and I was gobsmacked. Is there no control over the types of business that can open given the concentration of existing businesses? I would rather a KFC or MacDonalds that another Estate Agent or Indian takeaway.

Can recommend Colin from k & o pest control too. Knowledgeable and very nice guy - very reasonable with his rates too. We gave Colin a call and within a week he sorted out the problem.

check on the national rail site, link attached. http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/seasonticket/search You will pay ?62 a month to go from ED or Peckham Rye to LBR but it jumps to ?112 a month to use Shoreditch as the destination. You may as well buy a monthly travelcard which is obviously the intention, pay more for less should be the official TfL motto. Note that fares also go up by 4%-ish for next year, to keep in step with inflation apparently.

@ Lowlander, I understand why they are charging more I just disagree with the logic and the fairness of the current fair structure. You pay the same for a weekly zone 1&2 if you use dlr, tube, overground and NR all on the one day, and likewise with price capping for zone travel. I believe that a single train journey payg should be charged based on the zones of travel. If makes no sense to discriminate against the payg customers in this manner.

@ medley - nope, london bridge is in zone 1, so I am only suggesting that zone 2 to zone 1 should cost the same pay as you go regardless of the stations involved considering it costs the same for a weekly or monthly within the same zones regardless of stations used.

You are correct that's the justification allright I am just challenging this on the grounds that touching in and out only once in the same zone should be the same price for payg regardless of the station given the same equality exists for travel cards over a week / month.

I tried the ELL home from Shoreditch yesterday changing at Peckham Rye and it was a bit more comfortable a journey than the usual squueze fest between london and east dulwich, although 4 trains an hour only means a bit more waiting time than on national rail. I was a bit surprised that the payg fare is ?3.70 for a one way ride...compared to ?2.30 from london bridge so sadly this poses a wee problem for pay as you goers as its not a 60% better commute to justify the 60% increase in single fare. What really ticks me off though is that it costs only ?2.70 from Peckham Rye and therefore costs ?1 to travel from peckham rye to east dulwich.....how is this fair?

I like the idea of the ELLX2 very much as I would like to be able to travel around london other than by bus, although a little disappointed it doesn't run through Brixton. It seems like it was the cheapest option for the poor cousins south of the river. The option of either the ELLX2 or the Vic-Bellingham really stinks as an "option", thats a bit like offering a little child one story or two before bedtime. I support it too, although if practicable I would prefer the main roads to remain at 30mph. Our street doesn't have speed bumps and links lordship lane and crystal palace road and many drivers don't seem to care that its residential street and therefore has an increased risk of children (or adults) stepping onto the road. They just want to go as quick as they can to save a few precious seconds. If it forces drivers back onto the main roads then that is fine by me even if it adds to the congestion. Good on you Coops for sticking to your guns.

My niece had very bad flare ups and whilst she was visiting in the summer I encouraged her to try a natural solution. We bought some SOS cream from Dulwich Therapy rooms and my sister wasn't convinced but after a few days of application, her wounds were healing and now they are completely healed. She was previously using GP prescribed cream which did help but nothing significantly. Would recommend trying this.

Hi, I'm heping our nanny with ofsted registration and have downloaded forms/guidance notes from ofsted website. Might just be me being daft but I'm still not clear on the cost of registration (given that there are two registers etc) so thought I'd throw the question out there and hope someone can shed some light? I would like to encash childcare vouchers with our nanny, so I guess I need her to at whatever level of ofsted registration which makes this possible. Does anyone know the total cost?
