Edited to add... The railway sign is promoting Southern Electric, but the railways were nationalised on January 1st 1948, whereupon Southern Electric branding was dropped in favour of British Rail (Southern). So the percentage odds for the date on this is between 1946 and 1947, with a bias to the latter end of that period (based on the odds of a Regent III RT making it to East Dulwich).

I believe that's a narrow body 9.6 litre Associated Equipment Company (AEC) Regent III RT bus. Very similar to a Routemaster. They were notable for their shit suspension and drunken lean. Look at these pissed bar stewards: That means it could be wartime (post 1938), but that would be quite a fluke - only 150 were produced before 1946. So probably late 40s.

Sure thing mate.

That's not really fair. Vietnam has a few package holiday venues, but mostly if you book hotels over the internet and rock up you'll have a great time away from the hordes. Likewise in Bali, Seminyak and Kuta are the Ibiza of Australia, but the west coast and mountains are really enjoyable. In India you'll be part of the crowd at the Taj Mahal, but if you get yourself a hotel in Delhi and rent a car and driver for 10 days you'll be able to do an incredible self guided tour of Rajahstan, staying in great havelis, that'll blow you away :) The Maldives are like any other well heeled resort. It's got private villas, glass bottomed boats and 5 star restaurants. If you like that kind of thing you'll love it. It's not realistic to aim for some kind of Victorian grand tour. Poor people are entitled to food, motor vehicles and the internet too. Poverty tourism is my bete noir.

The porcini mushroom ravioli at Senso isn't a patch on the wild boar one they used to have. Why people change these things I never know. Bored chef?

I think it's difficult to have a serious conversation about God if you're defining it however you want to define it. Gods have always been moral arbiters and the personification of supernatural or poorly understood events. You can't suddenly announce that your definition doesn't include morality or human characteristics and expect people to understand you. You might as well say sausages are God, or Marmite.

That really unpleasant side to your rather slimy personality sneaks out very now and then doesn't it, Woodrot. It's sour racist misogyny, where every Asian girl is a dirty hooker. You can't get over your sneering, yet even as you say it, you regret it. You're aware that your behaviour and attitude is shameful and pathetic. You know you've soiled yourself. I'm sorry you hang out with nasty people, it says more about you than Asia. You're a sad small man, we all get it. If you stop saying nasty things, you may start to be happy and proud of yourself. Try it.

PS. Woodrot's downer on Singapore is personal. It seems to be related to a crippling misanthropy developed during an unsuccessful financial career. I think he saw me criticising Dubai and it created some sort of Pavlovian spite reflex to have a go at Singapore. It isn't a holiday destination though, it's a city break. I've just had cousins here for 3 days and they loved it. If they'd been here for 4 days I might have run out of ideas! It's just a generally well run and somewhat anodyne modern city. Best used as stepping stone and breather to visit some of the more intriguing and stressful areas of SEA - Angkor Wat, Brobudur and volcano hopping, Caledonian Highlands, Palawan and Boracay and on and on... :)

Yay! Vietnam Saigon or Hanoi are both must visits - Halong Bay is great for 2 days also, hill towns, fishing villages, the Mekong delta, beaches, loads to do and see, very nice people Excellent, excellent! I live down the road and go every few weeks :)

Perhaps she was banned for being a whiny moaner?

Can I also add that 'deactivating' an account is an extraordinary overreaction? I'm not sure why Admin would have even got involved in that sort of ridiculous behaviour. If she didn't want to post any more she could have just stopped. 'Deactivating' is such a hissing pissy shitsy foot stamping pathetic wankster that I don't believe even the most vomit poking ingrate would have it done after a little gentle ribbing for asking for shopping slaves to bring clothes to her. Therefore none of the above must be true, it must be something else.
-
Is this for real? If MsB deleted her account it won't be because Jeremy took the piss. Or rather, if it was she must be the kind of person who cringes at people in the street.

Gay marriage? Let's have a referendum

There isn't any current requirement for weddings to be religious, so the solution you seek is already in place. -
I think that's a misunderstanding of science. Science doesn't fabricate evidence with a purpose in mind, it simply makes observations and predictions based on tangible evidence. If there were evidence of some supernatural being then this could certainly be explored scientifically. The sum total of human investigation to date does not provide answers to everything, but experience suggests that most apparently mysterious or 'supernatural' events have much simpler explanations than the existence of a humanoid bronze age geriatric with a penchant for grandstanding. Traditionally when you use the term God with a capital G, this is the Abrahamic figurehead to which you refer.

Manila looks like Birmingham.

'Bullshit' implies you've been lied to, which just won't do. You can't really do that. You need to find a word that suggests disagreement with mutual respect. 'Bollocks' is good for that.

If the definition of 'commercial music' is 'music that lacks credibility', UDT, then why have you observed that 'commercial music lacks credibility'? It's tautology. I don't think you're a complete cretin, desperately close, but not a complete one - therefore you must have known that 'lacking credibility' is not the only definition of commercial music. That makes you an inconsistent troll. Your insistence that you belong to some 'cool circle' of cultural Illuminati smacks of a lonely little boy desperate to create an identity who invents a cadre of imaginary friends to boast about at school. It matches your conviction that you have some sort of ongoing relationship with the people in the John Lewis menswear department. The evidence of your lack of 'cool' is inherent in your requirement to boast about it - the one thing that is notable about 'cool' people is that they do not need to boast about it. The only people who would boast about being cool are people who manifestly knew they were not - hence every comment you make distances you further from the 'cool' end of the scale, and ever closer to the dickhead one.

I hated Dubai too. It's the sort of place you go to kill yourself.

Is BITE Snorky? Surely not?

No mate, if Soros was going short on Man Utd he wouldn't actually own the shares.

Golly - when I were growin up, I was taught exactly the opposite in geography. Even JG Ballard has the walled suburbs of London as social Nirvana. Plus ca change...

Off to Manila tomorrow. Wonder if it's still raining.

Well don't give us just half the story, was it the England cricket team?
-
Well no, increased market share at a loss isn't worth winning unless there is some other benefit. That's why I think I've missed something here. Anyway, I'm watching this thread with an eagle eye, and the second you let us know where you get it I shall be on the case and find out what it's all about!
