Aaah everyone is just wanting to drive more..we are all being conned..we are stupid.. we just want to drive freely... thanks M46, I just woke up from stupidity and will now campaign for LTNs.

How many posts do you wait for before expressing your disappointment again about what was I think - we can all agree in light of BLMs brilliant campaign and the awful slogans from the racist backlash - DA's unfortunate, misguided and a very, very poorly worded poster. Is there an algorithm? Is it a bit of whataboutery to try and paint people like me, Rockets, Kid, Metalic, Legal who object to diverted traffic, more pollution and an increase in idling traffic as a 'certain sort'? What is your motive M46?

GD - traffic on EDG is still terrible, so this 'data' and 'research' is being banged out to support something that really isn't happening and I agree, opening up Melbourne South isn't going to alleviate traffic on ED Grove and may make it worse - goes to show how terrible Southwark is at road planning. The causal factors are MG North to a small degree but mainly Calton closure - but you know, those Range Rover owners of 5 bedroom 3 million pound houses deserve a quiet road - it helps then put up with the working week before dashing off to the second home in Suffolk darling..

Margy and Richard had only 35% and 38% of the vote....so most people in Village didn't want them. James and Charlie only 42% in Goose Green. Vicki a bit more. So 68% of responders want LTNs removed, but Councillors who want them to stay only got between 35 - 42% of the voters behind their policies. Next local election is going to be interesting...The Labour Party members in Village already panicking I hear...
-
Didn't more people respond to the Consultation than voted in the last council election...
-
2016 count used as an estimation for 2019 (no context given about where/ when and what) compared to Summer 2021 over 2 days - no data about which two days. Nope - I wouldn't except that as valid statistical analysis in research methods - fail.
-
Nope - they compared an estimate with actual data..
-
But the roads won't be full of traffic because apparently LTNs make traffic evaporate..so there is no traffic to divert back to the empty roads...
-
Calton/ Court/ DV is the real problem - Melbourne Grove N and S doesn't help- but opening up the Village would relieve many of the HTN issues. A local bus doing the round via Calton, Village, LL then back around to Sainsbury's and up EDG would help. I do wonder why Goose Green and ED Labour Councillors have allowed Labour Village Councillors to sh*t all over their ward?

Does a ex-Southwark road planner. mate of a Councillor, a Guardian journalist or someone's Mum live on CP Rd? If not I'm not sure you will be allowed a quiet LTN road and will need to rough it with us plebs on LL, Croxted and ED Grove with a HTN rd sweetie.

Yes KK exactly - an alternative needs to be offered. The You Tube vid was interesting in that actual short journey's in distance may not be the issue. Clean, comfortable, cheap, regular, reliable and end-to-end public transport is the answer. Travelling by PT in Denmark was a joy, never missed having a car and it felt like a 1st class experience (worked there for a bit). I only drive about 3-4 times a year long distance, but if the PT was like Denmark and cheaper than the few journeys I make - I wouldn't ever bother driving.

3. RP what is a pro-carbon lobby? Who do you mean? Are you talking about Southwark Councillors creating High Traffic Neighbourhoods by diverting traffic onto Croxted, LL and ED Grove, what a great name for Southwark! Can include building on green spaces to that?

1. DC Pay attention - all ideas have been submitted to this forum on multiple occasions. 2. GL Any undergraduate knows in research methods you do not compare an estimate with an actual count.

How many times on here and Twitter I am asked what should be put in place to tackle climate change rather than LTNs (which looking at the evidence, I strongly believe contribute to MORE pollution due to idling traffic and longer journeys - hence why I am against them), to then give a list, with explanations - to the have a pile on of reply such as. Well that is dictatorship! That can only come from central Government! Too expensive! Unrealistic! It's the same old argument = LTNs are better than nothing ... No so untrue. Something that actually causes MORE pollution is not better than nothing. An intervention that makes something worse is not better than nothing. And almost all the people I know who want LTNs removed have alternative solutions that would help.

What is a motorist? Who are the many 'motorists'? Is that an LAS paramedic vehicle? Is that a single mum taking her kids to school and then dashing off to one of many cleaning jobs. This holier than thou attitude doesn't help. Big business and huge corporations are the world's polluters - but hey, let's do a Boris and blame the people rather than the real reasons for climate change and pollution - corporate greed.

Pro -LTN research reminds me of climate change -denier research. It goes something like - oh there isn't an increase in pollution and traffic on high density ribbon roads due to a human intervention - see look at this 'data' we have gathered and manipulate to prove our theory. Oh I know that it looks like there is idling traffic but that's just a one off. Oh it's all going to evaporate soon...just wait... Climate deniers - oh there isn't an increase in climate change due to human intervention - see look at this data ........... Oh I know it looks like the ice-caps are melting and Madagascar is on fire, but that's just a one off. It will all go back to normal soon - it's just a blip. Very similar ignoring of the 'facts'

No - the baseline for pre-LTN 2019 figure used was an estimate based on 2016 DFT data - source and count method not given. There was a pre LTNs number that was an actual count in 2019 - 9386, but they didn't use this as a baseline and chose to use the inflated estimate - choosing 16354 as a figure for the baseline - I wonder why? The 2021 data was a 2 day manual count - no day of the week specified so could have been at the weekend and was not the traffic count tubes but was 13583 So if you use the manual counts and no estimate the traffic increased by 13583 - 9386 which is an extra 4197 vehicles a day, which is a 44% increase. But they used an estimate for baseline and a count as the post LTN so they say a drop of 2771 - bad maths as this calculation gives a 2671 decrease - and declare a 17% reduction. Rubbish research and terrible maths - But feel free to look at it yourself.

If you look at the data that 'shows' that traffic was down on ED Grove it is based on an estimate for the baseline drawn from three year old data, it is data statistically manipulated by lobby groups for LTNs, promoted by an account that is one person living in an LTN. It is a manual count across only two days (not specified so could be a Sunday, could be ?) and in June- Summer 2021 the tail end of lock-down. Traffic was down across all London roads during the pandemic on average and bus journeys shorter except for boundary roads - where traffic, pollution increased and bus journey transit times along these roads (Croxted and ED Grove) increased by at least 20 mins down a road that is a 5 min drive. There are no 'facts' there is data that is manipulated to support a point of view. Medicine has been trying to be evidence based on double-blinded large studies, but during Covid it has been enlightening to also try a more evidence by experience mode and this led to proning patients and trying cheap drugs - saving many, many lives. Experience of 35 years living, walking and using public transport on ED Grove shows me that after 5 LTNs being introduced, traffic and local air quality is worse and bus journey times much longer.

How awful, maybe someone has a smart-bell thingy and I hope the police investigate.

Transport for London (TfL) - "London cyclist is typically white, under 40, male, with medium to high household income? Gov.uk- "2015-2019, on average, black people made the most local bus trips. Local bus trips accounted for 19% of all trips made by black people, the highest percentage out of all ethnic groups" "In 2019, people in the lowest real income quintile made 75 local bus trips on average, more than any other income quintile, while those in the highest income quintile made the least" "women made more local bus trips than men" And shockingly "Buses make up 0.7% of all motor vehicle traffic in 2019. This has been on a downward trend since 2007 and has reduced 2.2% in the last year" Why does Southwark put cycling as a priority above local buses?

Do we have a Defibrillator in East Dulwich?
heartblock replied to monica's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I?ve have replied..I?ll ask some friendly paramedics next week. I?m specialist so tend to be involved in more complex devices. Love that you are doing this. -
EDG traffic reduction ..no if you look at the actual data. Overall reduction outside of a pandemic lockdown.. no if you look at the baselines chosen. McAsh success measures.. not achieved.

But LTNs do not do anything 'urgently' to help the climate crisis... they haven't reduced pollution - in fact there is more evidence of pollution increases on ED Grove and Calton. Blood-letting was once though the best treatment for dropsy -of course it didn't cure dropsy and actually contributed to the final morbid outcome. I'm sure now we wouldn't say - but it's better than doing nothing. LTNs in Dulwich = blood letting for treating dropsy 'These remedies were rudimentary, erratic in action, and associated with inconvenient side effects'

I don't think there are any red boxes in LL anyway, but public AEDs are not left on charge, but do contain either a chargeable or non-chargeable battery. Designed that way so a member of the public isn't fiddling around disconnecting it from a source - just grabbing a bag. Hospital based ones tend to be always charging for obvious reasons and are mainly AEDs but more adaptable ones exist for specialist use in cardiac diagnostics and therapy. Anyway - thank you Monica for looking into this, it is very publicly spirited and may contribute to lives saved.
