  1. It's not a vanity project of one councillor, it's a core Labour policy and any criticism of it by a Labour councillor is likely to lead to re-selection at next year's elections.
  2. The only people to benefit from removing the monitoring strips are those who benefit from traffic being dispersed onto the roads being monitored. One ugly fact of life that this whole exercise has really shone a light on is that East Dulwich is unfortunately living next to a bad neighbour.
  3. They seem to be putting double yellows in across dropped curbs (plus half a car's length either side) elsewhere now, so maybe the white lines were a mistake and double yellows will eventually replace them.
  4. I thought the questions were a lot more balanced than they could have been.... e.g. _________________________________ "If there was an LTN in the road next to yours, would you also want an LTN in your road? *Yes, Very Strongly Agree [ ] *Yes, Strongly Agree [ ] *Yes, Agree [ ] _________________________________
  5. How did they get away with keeping it there if it was only meant to be temporary? It must have been there for many years now?
  6. I saw those at the weekend. I assume the main purpose is to further antagonise residents who can't park their cars since the new CPZs we imposed by the council. It can't be that there is any pressing need for new bike racks because when the new pizza delivery place moved in they were able to find secure parking for about 15 bikes on Lordship Lane
  7. Those bikes seem to cost between 4,500 and 8,500 each without attachments. The back seat and footrests Would be another 350 for instance.
  8. these are the relevant posts: ________________________________________ Re: Goose Green councillors - how can we help? Posted by jamesmcash January 25, 08:21PM Evaluation of LTNs We are due an announcement on the evaluation process in the next few weeks. The good news is that it looks like it will match up with the commitments I made to you back in October. ________________________________________ Nothing was forthcoming. This was what he said in October: ________________________________________ Posted by jamesmcash 14 October, 2020 16:38 ----------- WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE? In my view, we need to look at the effects across the whole area but also on individual streets. The two key criteria are air pollution and traffic volume. Put simply, if these two measures are not reduced across the whole area then the scheme has failed. It is not enough to displace the traffic - we want to reduce it overall. But even if air pollution and traffic volume decrease across the board, it matters how it is distributed. I want to see a social justice approach to the analysis. No matter what we do there will inevitably be some pollution and traffic. I want this to be shared equitably: protecting schools, nurseries and hospitals above all else; and not allowing the negative effects of air pollution to fall on those least able to bear them. ... ________________________________________
  9. I'm afraid I don't trust Cllr McAsh on this at all any more. He wrote something similarly conciliatory on here in October (that gave victims of the road closures hope) and yet nothing has changed. And then when I see his twitter posts and likes on this subject I come away with the distinct impression he has no intention of changing these measures. Didn't he also promise some interim report or something from the council in February?
  10. "One of the removed LTNs in Wandsworth, the residents simply kept reporting incidents/road closure on Waze!" So they are still attempting to needlessly delay and divert emergency vehicles? And dump their traffic onto other peoples' roads. That just shows you the callous selfishness at the heart of these measures. These people don't care who dies as long as they can keep their roads to themselves
  11. Is it court lane or Calton Avenue that you live on mr chicken? How many cars do you keep?
  12. Surely the chat is also subject to freedom of info. Who is this Jeremy Leach? He doesnt seem to be an elected official. Does he work for Southwark council?
  13. The only way to get rid of Labour's LTNs now is to hold your nose and vote for Shaun Bailey as Mayor in the upcoming elections.
  14. Can't agree woth that Rockets, if anything the last twelve months have seen the Tories do numerous volte faces when they see they don't have public support. This refusal to accept that an experiment has not worked in this format (even though it could still be corrected) is unique to a certain clique in the modern labour party who see any form of comment that is not wholly supportive as a treachorous betrayal. It's completely irrational.
  15. You can't pay to suspend because there are no parking bays. The council are no help at all for situations like this (and many other situations not like this too of course :)).
  16. Go up to the round about and come back down the other way
  17. The pollution is so bad on Lordship Lane at the junctions with Grove Vale and East Dulwich Grove (even at this time of night) that the London Air quality website advises adults and children with lung problems (e.g asthma)to avoid strenuous activity outdoors. https://www.londonair.org.uk/londonair/nowcast.aspx
  18. The benches are made by the same people who make the cycle hangars. I do wonder if that was the cheapest option.
  19. It's a very good point Nigello. If the council believe there is a need for a cycle lane on this road then that is an admission from them that cycling measures they have already put in have failed.
  20. The tweet is still ther. Maybe this links works better
  21. Well they are communicating it in their own way. For instance, Richard Lemming retweeted this lobby group's tweet encouraging people simply passing through the area to participate in the survey:
  22. Malumbu is just trolling. She doesn't even live in Southwark. Best ignored.
