Indeed - the East Dulwich Grove/Melbourne Grove crossroads which forms the boundary of the proposed zone is at most five minutes' walk from the station. I walk quite briskly and reckon three will do it...

.. and if it is the problem you describe, can you be sure that you won't simply be moving it on to other residents who are just outside the zone? The oft-mentioned Herne Hill scheme might not be the wonderful solution some claim - you might want to read this and this about the cost and the prospect of "mission creep"...

... or maybe, at the weekends, residents go away or are more likely to be out and about in sufficient numbers to allow for you to find a space or two. And, perhaps more harshly, why should others pay because you're "bored of the hassle"?

Indeed, but the thrust of the article is that pretty much all of Fleet St colludes in this behaviour by under-reporting it or not reporting it at all... and by taking part themselves in illegally obtaining information. It's very self-satisfying to shout and rant at the big bogeymen (Murdoch, Brookes etc), but it's less comforting to realise that it's the system that's corrupt. That, of course, doesn't excuse any individual's behaviour...
