Bang on RPC - early morning walk to Sainsbury's to get the paper Saturday picked up nineteen bits of street litter and binned them in half a mile. And if you're big enough and ugly enough (I am, I know that isn't the case for lots of people) to challenge people who drop litter, ask them not to, actually I've found that 90% of people challenged will pick up. The other 10%...well I'm quite a swift runner... -
Thanks for an interesting link which I would have missed. Many will disagree indeed, but I must say the pernicious urban myth of a single cat killer really doesn't hold up, and SNARL are looking slightly ridiculous in their monomaniacal pursuit of this agenda. Sorry.

This is very true - police cuts have meant they just squeeze on some areas which shifts the crime elsewhere. Years ago I lived down near the Camberwell end of Coldharbour Lane, which was quite safe until the police launched a massive crackdown on the Yardies from Loughborough Junction towards Brixton, which resulted in a massive increase in dealing and shootings down our end. It's all about police capacity, and the cuts are the primary problem. -

There seems to be a misconception on here that you can only have one or the other. Fortunately Sainsbury's provide both, and the only problem raised on this thread is people who are not entitled to either saying they want to use them. -

You're an habitue of the Ivy house, aren't you Sue? That's oriented due north-south so if you went up on their roof terrace and looked away from the road you'd likely get a good view - at the moment Mars comes over the horizon just before nine and is highest (and due south) just after midnight.

The horn I mentioned above https://www.thehornit.com/the-hornit-db140-new fixes to the bars as easily as a light and has a separate thumbswitch which can be placed right under your thumb so it can be used without moving away from the brakes. At 140db it's as loud as a rape alarm and louder than the level recommended by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust. Think it would certainly give them pause for thought and attract the attention of others. I don't usually use panniers (consider a backpack maybe?) but when I have I've always put a single on the inside anyway to reduce the risk of it being clipped by close passers. If you have a flexible lock (or you can get a really cheap one if all you want it to do is prevent grabbers) might be worth locking your pannier to your rack - there are a number of specifically-designed things such as https://www.evanscycles.com/ortlieb-ql2-anti-theft-device-EV187609 -

I entirely agree, I think problems arise when people start pushing the idea of an equivalence, e.g. men suffer just as much oppression from women as vice versa, racism is just as bad for white people etc. That negates the reality of all experiences and is often used as an excuse to continue bad behaviour: "they" are just as bad as "us", "we" suffer just as much as "them", so you can't blame "us" for carrying on.

That is certainly a good point for DKH Sainsbury's as I can't ever recall seeing the back half of the car park half full. -

Just checked out of interest as my little sister has a blue badge due to Ms - someone from Saga checked directly with Sainsbury's and they said BB holders are welcome to use M&C spaces if all disabled bays are taken. -

If you don't, fine. As you say, people have different views. At least I don't start fresh threads for the sole aim of venting personal hatred...

Toffee was pushing an agenda (fully backed up by his previous highly aggressive - including physically threatening - posts excoriating "liberal luvvies") that black on white racism is as prevalent as white on black and that it's covered up. If disagreeing - and finding it both pathetic and offensive - with that makes me rabid, then I'm rabid and proud of it. If you want properly rabid, you should see the utterly pathetic and offensive PM I've just had from Toffee accusing me of having his comments removed by reporting him to Admin. For the record, I didn't. Oh and see his lame starting a whole thread just to attack me. Who's rabid?

Your taking spaces that are not reserved for you and which you're not entitled to use is nothing to do with anyone? Not the people for whom the spaces are actually reserved? Blue badge availability has nothing to do with cuts, they don't cost anything beyond administration (for central govt). In fact they just announced that they were massively extending eligibility. If you're entitled to one, get one, you can always stop using it when you don't need it any further. But the attitude that you and your daughter have decided to what you're entitled and that your decision overrules anyone else's needs or the rules of the carpark is pretty poor. -

Really sorry to hear about this RPC, just horrible. No suggestions for fixing the policing crisis apart from the Tories give back the ?600M they've cut from the Met budget since 2010 and scratch the ?400M more cuts they want by 2021. On a personal protection level, worth considering one of these? https://www.thehornit.com/the-hornit-db140-new These [expletive deleted] are cowards at base, if they're threatening you a good loud noise might a) get them on the run and b) attract the attention of others - I've seen these in action and the decibel level is very impressive. -

What about Sara Rowbotham MP who tried to > alert authorities in 2005....how come Nazir Afzam > didn't pick up on it back then? How splendidly cheap and EDL of you to spell his name wrong. Cheap, but expected. He wasn't involved in the Rochdale case in its early years as he was neither in the location nor of the seniority to be so. He did not "expose" the grooming gang because he was part of their community, because he wasn't - he's from Birmingham, not Rochdale. One of his first actions on being appointed Crown Chief Prosecutor for the Northwest in 2011 was to overturn the previous decision of (white, non-Muslim) prosecutors not to pursue the case, and to initiate prosecutions that were ultimately successful. Sorry if the facts don't fit the far-right narrative. Sara Rowbotham, while a splendid (Labour, that must stick in your hate-filled craw, if you actually knew it) local councillor is not an MP - a minor detail, but symptomatic of your muddled-headed bigotted ignorance. P.S. I suggest before you continue your Tommy worship you look up, as JoeLeg suggested, EDL founder member Richard Price - convicted of possession of child pornography and placed on the sex offenders' register. Tommy Robinson whined that Price was "stitched up" and that the police had "no right" to raid his home and seize his computer. What was that you were saying about self-contained protectionist communities?

Racism is indeed a two-way street - one with nine lanes in one direction and one in the other. Hope you're OK Cles.
