It's true, my brunch supplier has been mildly taciturn recently, I must have a word. If everyone, according to you, gets the service the provider thinks they deserve, does this not make you think about why you may be receiving poor service? Or is it easier just to accuse those who find your post just a trifle whiny and pompous ("and why don't we have a Waitrose???") of lacking charm? Customer interactions are a two-way street, if you go in with what appears to be a comically haughty and superior attitude don't be surprised if people don't fawn all over you.
  2. Don't know where you were in France squire but by far - by an order of magnitude - the worst condescension, rudeness and poor customer service I've ever experienced was living in Paris. I feared it was due to my accent until I saw exactly the same happen to many native French friends. What's wrong with saying enjoy the rest of your day at 7PM? Would you prefer "not much of the day left so hope it's a bit crap"? For most people around 7PM is when the part of the day they really enjoy - family, eating, socialising etc - starts!
  3. As you don't claim you didn't know there is a bus lane there (which is frankly very obvious from road markings and signage, and was during the roadworks) it sounds more like it was you wasting council resources by making a prolonged attempt to get off your ticket on a technicality when you knew, in reality, you'd broken the rules.
  4. Queens Road Pharmacy SE14 5HD open to 9PM.

Just one.

Ah yes, I see. A lovely person indeed, as lovely as a ten-year-old scrawling obscenities on a lavatory wall. Can't see a single comment that's not a stupid joke to attempt to belittle others or just to say that a thread is boring, or "sucks". Pathetically sad. Strongly suspect from their tone and attitude it's one of the previously banned come back in another guise.
  8. Deleted because I realise it's pointless giving such a nasty bit of work further excuse to spill his bile.

You seem just lovely. If you want a good debate/argument, this forum will provide in spades, but really, why do you and two or three others get off on joining threads for no reason other than to call them boring, or "drivel" or whatever? Whom does it benefit? Does it make you happy? If so, seek help.

How f&*%ing absurd is that?).
  11. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is there any truth in the notion that players of a > certain older age reach a level of stamina young > players just can't have? It certainly is in other sports, in cycling it's axiomatic that younger riders haven't got enough miles in their legs to win a grand tour, GT winners are nearly always over 25 and are generally at their best between about 27-32. Male runners run their fastest marathons, on average, aged 27, women aged 29. So I reckon yes, quite a lot of truth in it.

What the OP has described is, as noted by others, a sexual assault by a perpetrator who has apparently significant form in this area. Would you be happy for a daughter of yours to be assaulted in this way and just say it's harmless? "He does need strong guidelines/boundaries and is fine" - what, so if someone's subject to what was clearly an upsetting assault it's really their fault for not giving him boundaries and guidelines? Being a talented pianist is not necessarily a block to being sexually aggressive, you know. Honestly, I find your whole post quite extraordinary.

KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's interesting the 'quarantine' the kids are > going through at the moment, I don't know enough > to understand what infections the medical team > fear. General weakness from having endured low temperatures and starvation for such a long time (two of the boys reportedly suffering from pneumonia) makes them vulnerable to infection, also they want to make sure that they haven't picked up any waterborne infections, or those carried by cave-dwelling bats, they could pass on to their families.

Passiflora Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't think it's every thread, but this one > naturally came around to this. > > If it makes people aware that somebody is still > killing cats and other animals out there I can't > see the problem. It's not a problem, it is worth mentioning, the problem is that the idiot sneering flocker spotter has some silly need to try to put everyone down. It's very sad.
  17. flocker spotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > this is a thread worth watching. keep us updated. > I am on the edge of seat Why don't you try making a worthwhile contribution to the forum instead of just sneering? If you don't care about what other people want to talk about, don't join in, and stop being such a tiresome bore.
  18. Windows open wide enough for a cat are wide enough for foxes and burglars too, sounds like the solution to your problem's right there!
  19. Don't do anything yourself! Ain't a computer on earth worth getting stabbed for. If it's a specific location (as PR says, if you can pinpoint one residence) the police should be addressing, if they won't, asking to speak with their commanding officer usually does the trick.
  20. DulwichBorn&Bred Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hot drinks definitely doesn?t cool me down, I > start sweating after drinking a hot drink in this > weather. That's the point: when you drink a hot liquid, the nerves in the tongue alert the brain to the fact that you're doing something that will raise body temperature, so it begins the sweat response, which is, of course, a cooling mechanism. Unless it's very humid the cooling action of evaporating sweat outweighs the slight rise in internal temperature from the drink.
  21. Get up high, top of Crystal Palace or Telegraph Hill. Was up there this morning cycling, cool breezes, less pollution and great views!

Not impressed. The new cycling boom has been fantastic in many ways, but the tendency of the minority to think that cycling is sticking your mountain bike on the back of the diesel 4x4, driving fifty miles, cycling ten, then driving fifty miles back home again is entirely regrettable.
  23. Utterly heartbreaking, one to think about for the huge number of people I've seen in this weather parked up with engine running, exercising their "right" to keep their aircon going. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/jul/07/in-the-days-around-ellas-death-there-were-big-spikes-in-air-pollution
