Card Cloned on my commute today
rendelharris replied to ED_moots's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Unlikely to be a photograph, as a scammer would need both sides to get your security number as well. Card skimmers on Oyster machines are not uncommon, be good if you could text British Transport Police on 61016 or call on 0800 405040 to let them know - doubt they can do anything to catch the miscreants but they will go and check the card readers. -

Fantastic, "I'll leave you to have the final word" - oh no, hang on, I won't. The richness of the irony is surely not lost on you? Your original comment was rather silly, your attempts to justify it by accusing someone who politely differs with you of misogyny - and "passive-aggressive Socratic irony", bigod! - is sillier still. I'm sorry that your apparent belief that you should be able to say whatever you like on an internet discussion forum without being challenged is not always fulfilled. Them's the breaks. -

What I've heard (and this is subject to severe BS but the people I know are quite involved) is that for the right money he'd take over England with a view to ultimately taking NZ into 2023...

Well my final word would be please don't accuse me of misogyny without any justification whatsoever, if that's alright with you. -

Golly, was it? I must be devilish clever, far more than I realise! I thought I was just saying live and let live, now I realize I'm using Socratic irony and whatnot... Seriously RPC, you made a generalisation about all men being a bit niffy, I made a mild polite point that not all men are, and now you're saying I'm "speaking from a position freighted with the historical power and privilege of masculinity" and being a misogynist? Seriously? How have I made the slightest attack on women in any way shape or form? Please show me where I've done that? -

Yep, we're generally more pongy for the reasons that you state, RPC. Just wondering if the opposite were true you'd be happy with a man saying "women, you niff, sort yourselves out"? -

A NZ friend who's quite close to the machinations of the international rugby market has suggested that Gatland would love to coach England, but he'd want around ?1M. Would it be worth it?

I'm not, uncleglen was trotting out the tired crap that the papers have been pushing with a political agenda to try and say Sadiq has ruined London and so I was pointing out that it's entirely untrue. Why are the papers and rightists like him pushing the comparison? Hysteria doesn't help anybody. ETA THE point, or at least one worth remembering, is that no large city ever has been, nor ever will be, free of a certain amount of murder. That's not to say we shouldn't take every possible measure to minimize it, but the tabloid-driven mindset that things are worse than they've ever been is ridiculous. I recommend Stephen Pinker's "The Better Angels of our Nature" for a more rational, less hysterical viewpoint. -
Thought England were dreadful today, utterly lacking in creativity (apart from the splendid back three). Mako Vuinipola should be told he can't play for England again until he can stop his utterly petty cheap penalty-costing shots, he's pathetic (not that I'd say it to his face, mind). I was a fan of Eddie Jones but I feel he's lost control of the squad now and run out of ideas, can't see him taking us deep into next year's World Cup.

We overtook New York for a very brief period in February as a statistical blip, NY for the year to the end of May was up to 113 while we had 71. In any case, New York has experienced a remarkable reduction in its murder rates which is far more pertinent than London's statistics, but it's easier for the febrile everything's going to hell brigade to ignore that. In 2003 there were 204 murders in London, even if this year continues at its current rate (which it won't as rates tend to decline in the winter) we won't even get close to that. Were you calling it a bloodbath back then? Why not? Nothing to do with wanting to rag on our current Mayor, I'm sure... -

Cheer up uncle, there will still be plenty of blank concrete walls in the neighbourhood for you to stare at whilst moaning about...well, just about everything, in fact. -

Please alert the bank to what looks like a failure in their procedures: most (all?) now say they are aware of these issues and check carefully before authorising the withdrawal of large amounts of cash by older customers, checking with relatives etc if suspicious. Hope the lady's recovering from such an unpleasant experience and that they catch these [redacted] soon. -

M&S is ?8 for a 35cl bottle, not much less eye-watering than the posh wine shop! I haven't bought any this year yet but last year Tesco was doing a very acceptable own brand one for ?8 (I think) for a half litre.

The far right are becoming more and more emboldened every passing day, they're not even bothering to try and dress up their nastiness any more. Storm's a-comin'. What a coincidence that of all the "rage-filled ranty men and women out there of all races" uncle should choose to name one of Britain's most famous black men.

They'd only have to be 101... ETA He also said "they came up to me on the campaign trail and said 'when you can, president, we'd like our son's remains to be brought home...'" So they were calling him president back in 2016...

There's a free 4x A4 one in this week's Radio Times, sure most of the weekend papers will be offering something similar.

That might be useful for someone as a bike shed, as you could lose the bottom planks and still have enough height. Recycled pallets make a good shed floor.
