Recommended Carpet Cleaner in East Dulwich - Tony A&M Carpet Care
megmj replied to Mark's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Just had my carpets cleaned by Tony from A and M Carpets a year after the last time. Tony was again friendly, informative (told me why we had bobbles on our carpets and how to prevent it) and trustworthy. Honest worker and I will continue to use him. Thanks again Tony! -
Another recommendation for Julian Richards. We contacted Julian last year about fitted wardrobes. He was quick to respond and thorough during the site visit and quotation. We changed our minds quite a lot during the process and Julian was excellent at responding. Julian worked efficiently and to deadlines, always checking in with us and asking our advice. A lovely person to have in your house (we even trusted him with a key which I never do). All in all a brilliant carpenter for wardrobes and other things and we cannot recommend him enough.

I am also interested in this after being let down by my dentist. Looking for one who is also good with toddlers and babies please!

megmj replied to Mark's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Another recommendation for Tony. A fantastic job, a lovely guy and he really knows his stuff. He works hard and provides excellent results. He is honest about what is achievable but does everything in his power to exceed expectations. Thoroughly recommend and I will now be using Tony annually! -

Loft Conversion - Builder - Benchmark Lofts
megmj replied to alexjj80's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Another recommendation for Benchmark. We had our loft done in 2016 so have already posted about them but have recently worked with them again due to issues with next door's roof causing leaks in our loft. Tom was on holiday but was quick to respond and his team were over to ours straight away to sort it out. Jamie and James were fantastic and great at communicating the issue so we could relay to the neighbour. In short, they actually care about your loft even after it is completed which makes us even happier that we chose them. Happy to provide more recommendations on the loft itself if anyone wants them. -
Hi, I am looking at nurseries and wanted some feedback on Piplings. The visit went really well and the staff seem lovely but I have seen that there was a complaint reported to Ofsted so just want to hear from people who know the nursery and staff. Thanks in advance!

Keen to look at Forest Schools - are there any locally? There was one near Peckham Rye but think it closed down so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone - happy new year! We are looking for a nursery for our one year old, to start when he is 2.5. I appreciate that we probably are slightly late in the game as so many demand sign up from birth (or before?!). We are looking for a relaxed, montessori style play focussed nursery environment for him. Any recommendations please do let me know. We are based in Nunhead but willing to drive if needed. Thank you so much Meg

Spring baby group 2018 (due March, April, May)
megmj replied to lucy_lastics's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hey Jenny, I can't seem to find the group on FB and there are a few Jenny mowats. Is your pic of you and a baby in a front facing sling?! I can find a spring babies 2011 but don't think I need that one! Thanks for sorting! Meg -
We have a terrible, corrupt landlord owning next door, who keeps the house in disrepair. I have already spoken to the council about it and they have asked him to make changes to the house to make it safer for the tenants (please know that there is a family living there where they definitely have rats!). I just wonder if there is anything else I can do to make sure he is held to account? I know that he has other properties in Lewisham and other areas so probably keeps them in the same state. Can i contact local papers or anyone else? Thanks

megmj replied to lucy_lastics's topic in The Family Room Discussion

Hi, We have a nanny for our child until he is 2. After that I realise I need to look into nursery etc. Are there any recommendations of good nurseries nearer to Nunhead way? Also, is it better to go with a nursery attached to a school so there is more chance of admission to the school or does it not matter? Thanks!

Another recommendation for Nick and Sussex Wills. Nick was extremely personable and easy to work with. His approach made writing our wills easy and stress free. We definitely recommend him, especially for people like us as young parents who knew little about the format and what was expected.

Thanks for your message. This has been changed for you. Clearly the person who commented on the class didn't go much! Apologies for any offence. -

Yes Anna, please send me your phone number and age of your baby and where you are based. Thanks! -
Hi all, The alumni of Summer babies 2016 have set up a blog and Twitter account called PeckhamParent. It is there to provide genuine, funny and useful advice to new parents in the South East London area. We are now a 69 strong group of mamas (and some dads!) on whatsapp who have all found so much support and helpful advice on the group that we wanted to get that information out to the masses, especially those expecting babies this year. https://peckhamparent.tumblr.com/ @PeckhamParent on Twitter The most recent post is on buggy friendly stations nearby. There are a few clear winners and some definite losers! We want the blog to be as helpful and collaborative as possible so if you have anything you want to share please do let me know via PM. And any comments just let us know!
