Whilst you all are rightly complaining about the traffic please spare a thought for those of us who live around the Bellenden.Lyndhurst, Chadwick Road triangle we have had local transport taken away as they have removed the local P13 bus from the area due to implementing social distancing in Rye Lane. Which is a joke if you have been down there. Many people rely on the P13 as they are elderly and find walking difficult and do not cycle. So now having to walk 15 minutes to get a bus you now find yourself caught up in traffic jams. One example a direct trip to Sainsburys is now impossible and trying to connect with bus routes takes up most of the morning. Try carrying shopping whilst doing this. Southwark have no idea how widespread the knock on effect actually is unfortunately. Nor do they care. Why Rye Lane has caused the diversion of the P13 when for months they were digging it up and it still ran on its route does not make sense. The roads are getting busy and traffic is moving from one area to another which never happened to this extent. Now the Government has given councils the right to do what they want it will only get worse.

Rye lane walk & cycle only from 6/7

If it results in a major balls up you can rest assured that it is most likely to be true. -
Does exeastdulwicher work for Southwark Council on traffic planning?

EDguy89 What are the numbers that turn a road into being used excessively, is it per hour and per day? Did Southwark measure this or was it just by looking? Interested to know

How much has your house gone up now?

Unfortunately this seems to be the pattern everywhere in the borough regarding changes. Areas that have attracted newbys decide this is what THEY want and small a group descend on the Cllrs and Southwark and the wider population has no idea these changes are taking place and more to the point the wider population have a living to earn and do not have the time to decide how the area should be at coffee mornings or social gatherings. It is unfortunately how it is these days. Most residents do not have a voice any more.

You could always move.

"Sadiq Khan admits he has 'not been providing proper leadership' as Mayor of London because of bouts of 'loneliness' during lockdown as he opens up on his mental health 'struggle' Sadiq Khan opened up about his mental health struggles amid Covid lockdown London Mayor said there were days 'when I'm not providing proper leadership' Mr Khan said he has 'no doubt' the lockdown affected his mental health" Mail on Sunday. Perhap he could be removed legally as by his own admission he has not been up tp the job and Southwark should not follow any actions he has laid down as law. Just a thought

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
rupert james replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
And have him trying to score points against all others excect the lib dems. No thanks. -
My answer is very simple allow the hard working people carry on to try and get things solved and moving. Their work is very much appreciated. Do not try and pass policies under the cover of the virus which appears to be happening. When this current problem is understood fully we can have an open and frank debate with all people of the UK to see where they would like to go and not the policies of a few. I am 74 years of age I do not go hammering down roads in my car.

It seems to me that the Govt is floating more and more unwanted and ill thought of ideas to deflect people from their mishandling of the virus situation. Put Khan in charge of silly ideas and money wasting and you will suddenly realise just how bad it all is getting. If you have a pet idea that is of no value please list here as it appears that funding will be given immediately to stop people realising that they are giving up rights without any proper discussion in the HOC. Big brother is growing every day. Be aware.

If you read what Khan is now proposing it does not seem worthwhile even thinking about what traffic flows, people traveling will be. His latest gem, buses to only carry 15 people, more bike lanes and no plan for the tube. People will not bother even leaving their homes. I vote we make him Mayor for life as it is impossible to get anyone as clever ever.

If you really believe that Southwark have a clue regarding traffic and pavements I would think again.

In all honesty I doubt if they will even notice if people dont pay. The number 12 from Oxford Circus to Peckham or the other way round is not known as the charity bus for nothing. Nobody pays. Next time when you use the bus in better times just look and take note. The drivers need to be better looked after, As Khan's father was a bus driver you would have thought he would have taken better care of them.

Sally Buying asked. "Would appreciate any news. If people go could there be a steady up date as to the queues most people are on their phones all the time so news would help regulate queues." Also what is the stock situation is like. Have a bad feeling panic buying could raise its head before the weekend. Many thanks

What about the stock on the shelves over the course of the day. This would be of great importance to everyone.

It appears that with every day that goes by the undermentioned post on the forum becomes more and more applicable. Posted by richard tudor March 05, 04:45PM "perhaps there are more A/H in ED than anyone realised." -
I have to think about going shopping, can people post the situation regarding Sainsbury;s. It would be appreciated.
-
I have to think about going shopping and having no car and having to use public transport I would appreciate knowing if anyone has gone to DKH today and whether it is worth even trying. I am over 70 so making a food trip now is important. I can only carry so much in my trolly. I have to agree with gromit it does seem that people are only in it for themselves and watching how they shop I cannot imagine it will change anytime soon. Some people shop with thought for others but many in a certain age group have no consideration. Sainsbury's seem to have no idea how to manage things.
-
You are talking sense but unfortunately Southwark have a plan which they will not deviate from regardless of how much common sense is put their way and those green warriors will not deviate from from their impossible fixed views. Perhaps to young to have any meaningful life experiences. Southwark want cars off the road. That is their aim.
-
When this happens why can management not step in and put a stop to it. But then most of the managers I have seen are mostly very young and no doubt would see the end of their career if they did. Managers should project power.
-
Perhaps people have woken up to the fact that when Southwark bans all cars and closes all roads you wont be able to go shopping anywhere.
