  1. I can second your recommendation for Mickey Lawless he did a brilliant job and what a thoroughly lovely man. However, on the whole I can say that the majority of the trades people I have used on the forum have been second rate to appalling....one thing to note when looking up trades folk is to check how many times the person recommending them have posted on the forum....I used an ED based plumber with lots of amazing reviews....after the event I checked the "rave" recommendations and noticed that they were first time or novice posters....mates I reckon! I agree not enough policing.
  2. I used this firm - they completed the first stage of the job, I paid them immediately as it was a 2 stage job and formally agreed their quote and the date for completion of the works(even though I had to wait 4 weeks, I agreed that I was willing to wait). The second limb of the job were fairy minor works, circa ?300. I was extremely disappointed to be then cancelled not once but twice, as more profitable boiler jobs came along. I was then told by Pete that he was going on holiday so I would have to wait an additional month to get the job completed and if I didn't like the timescale I could use someone else!. After sticking with him as a plumber and waiting for him to complete the job- on a personal and professional level I found his approach appalling and would not recommend him.
  3. I have had my fair share of disappointments with plumbers over the years, so I am very pleased and a little bit amazed that I have finally managed to find to a decent, fair and keenly priced plumber- who shock horror turns up when he says, doesn't cancel appointments at the drop of the hat and keeps within his quote!! I am currently pinching myself. Richard was a very pleasant person to have around and he was very tidy. He is a thorough and skilled workman, accordingly I am more than happy to endorse him- particularly since I was beginning to believe that decent/ hard-working plumbers no longer existed in East Dulwich. 4. I am not sure if anyone else has noticed that most of the "rave" reviews for Daniel come from new users to the forum and most of the "don't touch him with a barge pole ones" come from established users!!! Interesting!?
  5. try the pork belly!! They have really turned this boozer around, it is now light and airy and very kiddie and dog friendly.
  6. Again I had a very very negative experience with Daniel- he was awful to deal with- I found him to be completely unreliable, he never turned up or dealt with any of the issues. I am dissatisfied with the advice I received, and if I had received full advice I would never have embarked upon the recommended works. Other plumbers have advised me of the downsides of the works completed but in essence we still have a cold house and now a broken boiler. In my experience Daniel is only prompt is seeking payment and I would not recommend him to anyone! Sorry it goes against the grain to do negative feedback as I appreciate everyone needs to make a living but in my opinion he gives plumbers a bad name and dealing with him was exceptionally stressful. It is my understanding that Dulwich Plumbing and Heating work as an agency so they outsource the work....the work is as good as the sub contractor who turns up!! We were lucky as Paul Fenning turned up to our house, he was honest, decent and reliable- without him I would have gone mad. When we had no heating, he was willing to come to our house with heaters (as we have small children) and come back and finish the contracted works. Paul's mobile number is 07753938142 and his email is [email protected] I can recommend Paul but unfortunately not Daniel.
  7. I have also just used Jouseph for a recent collection and drop off job, it ended up being much more complicated than envisaged and a long story short the wardrobe would not go up my stairs!! He tried everything to get it up! There was some damage to the walls and he has come and repainted them and was very keen to be as helpful as possible. He is is very nice/hard-working and reasonably priced- he has my recommendation and I have no hesitation in using him again.
  8. I can say a big NO to using KFH found them awful....very charming until you sign on the dotted line to use them- thereafter I found their service poor- which is amazing given that they receive a fairly substantial fee. This is purely based on my personal experience so they may have done a sterling job for others- but I for one would never use them again.
  9. Hi there, all very dull and insignificant in the scale of things....but we had our bike rack on the back of our car- we parked it at the top of Barry Road (Lordship Road end) last Friday morning and it was prized off our car when I returned a few hours later. This is not a poor wee me post, it is more of a cautionary tale- perhaps if you leave your bike rack on your car you may want to think again....weirdly some folk think they are worth nicking and if they do they may damage to your car trying to get the thing off!! Anyhow, dull, dull but I thought I should post this just incase it stops it happening to someone else.
  10. I am looking for a childminder /nanny / mum with kids / retired lady who is willing to collect my 2 children from St Anthonys (Etherow street, off Lordship Lane) at 3.30pm on a Monday/ Tuesday and a Thursday and take them home (either to their own house or to yours) for dinner and play, with pick up being 7PM. This is to start in August 2010. Many thanks for any responses in advance.
