Loft Conversion - recommendations in ED please
pr5ined replied to Ginster's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Hi Looking to resurrect this thread as we are looking into a loft extension? Any recent recommendations from locals in ED? -
I'd prefer South Norwood, think it offers better value and is better connected. Surely it will only be a matter of time before the main road's shops improve, we have friends there and they love the transport links and the fact that a flat is affordable over there

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
pr5ined replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James I train regularly with the Peckham Rye Fitness Squad. This is a group of locals that meet up and run free park exercises daily at 10am for the public. It is worth noting that training/classes are completely free and encourages participation from any members of the public that wish to improve their fitness. On each day there are at least 10 people who attend and train using the outdoor gym, in particular the pull up bar as well as the dip bars. As I understand it some of the members have already attempted to contact the council to discuss/complain about two issues: 1) The current dip bars have been installed poorly by the council and are way too wide for the true dip exercise to be completed. The distance between the bars does not match up to the industry standard - the workmen have installed this poorly.(See attached picture) The group themselves have already said they would be happy to pay for the rework needed to get this done right. 2) The group who have been going for a good few years really wish for further pull up bars / rigs to be installed into this area. This has been voiced previously to the council - however to the group's dismay a new cycle machine has been installed which 1) does not effectively work (the wheels are stiff) 2) nobody seems to use this machine at all It would be great if you could make it down one day in the week or weekend to have a chat with some of the members if free and see first hand the good community work that is being achieved through fitness. If this is not possible could the newly installed machine be removed and be replaced with more pull up bars/rig equipment (similar to that in Kennington Park) and could the dip bars be moved closer together as per industry standard? I'e attached pictures so you can get a better idea of the issues at hand. PS here is the link to the instagram account of the group so you see how they train and what equipment is used https://www.instagram.com/peckhamryesquad/ The group looks forward to hearing back from you. Best regards Chet -
Very interesting....do let me know how this plays out.. might be one for Columbo?

If this land is not legally yours then you are trespassing and illegally on the land. You can be subject to legal action and prosecution so it would be in your best interests to get this resolved either way. I would suggest either rent the land or buy it...before the current owner catches on. Maybe look at renting the land but also think about how much additional value that 30/40% of the garden will add to your property. With the way that ED property is I would suggest that it would add more than ?20k if it makes up so much of 'your' current garden so you might have priced that optimistically.

Anyone used house removal co recently & have a recommendation?
pr5ined replied to Nadgr's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Used VP removals yesterday to move us from 2 bed ground floor flat to 1st first floor victorian flat...have to say that Vitek and Peter were great. They worked non stop and ensured that every item was wrapped well, also took a logical approach to packing which my wife greatly appreciated. Would definitely use them again. -
Awful service, once ended up waiting for 15 minutes unnecessarily as their pharmacist was literally unpacking a delivery they had just had and refused to ruin her'rhythm' of unpacking to serve a paying customer. Would only ever go there as a last resort - terrible service

Your experience with ED Estate Agents? 2015 /2016 ?
pr5ined replied to Cats_pyjamas's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Sorry Mr Troll...It's not Kylie...would be pretty stupid for an estate agent to write their own posts. -

Your experience with ED Estate Agents? 2015 /2016 ?

Thought I would chip in with our experience of using KFH on the high street in ED! We met the whole team including Paul, Kylie, Charlene and Stephen before selling our property. Kylie was the agent responsible for our sale which did drag on for no reason on the agent;she was always available to speak about what was going on with our sale and managed the sale through despite a few hiccups. A really positive experience and we also saw that Charlene and Paul were fully upto date when Kylie was not available or on holiday to speak to. We achieved a good price and they did get buyers through the door to view. Their vetting process was great too and they made sure we didnt get any timewaster buyers. They have a good vibe over there and are not pushy when it comes to sales! Would have no hesitation in using Kylie and the team again. -
Good idea in principle but agree with the health and safety idea. This would only work if you had a cook off in one big place under health and safety control.
