Firms already need to report the number of third country national foreign workers. Whilst I am not condoning the extension of the policy to EU foreigners, I do find it interesting that no-one was up in arms when the requirement was imposed on the 3CNs. I particularly remember when an ID card was proposed in the noughties by the Labour government. Everyone howled about how it would be a terrible infraction of civil liberties, and yet when the decision was made to drop the card EXCEPT for 3CNs, who still have to have one, no-one batted an eyelid. I have 3CN friends who have been treated like second-class members of society for some time. This clearly isn't right, but the current hyperbole about how appalling this is now it might affect EU nationals is hypocritical.

You're missing my point Calsug. I've met over a couple of dozen South Londoners who are curtain-twitchy bigots. Whilst my experiences may very well be valid, if I try to suggest ALL South Londoners are curtin-twitchy bigots, some people may quite rightly object to my "logic". South Londoners themselves may very well point out that it would be extremely arrogant of me to assume that my personal experience meant I was then able to understand the characteristics of every single South Londoner. Non-South Londoners who aren't that fond of sweeping generalisations about an entire group of people might suggest that whilst I am entitled to object to a particular type of behaviour, conflating that behaviour and a class of people is as objectionable as someone who suggests that black people are by nature criminal, that working class people tend to be stupid and that old people are all selfish. Anyway, I'd be very glad to see all people who don't mind South Londoners agreeing to remedy the behaviour of the curtain-twitchy bigots that I have met, because clearly the fact they think my views* are wrong means they should be responsible for undoing the damage that curtain-twitchy bigots wreak. *Clearly, these are not my views as I am a South Londoner - I am trying to illustrate a point.

I suspect the people who are "pro-traveller" don't like the idea of an entire class/group of people being tarred with the same brush. Kinda like saying all South Londoners are bigoted curtain-twitchers.

Well, that's a proportionate response.

Would you retire at 50 if you could ?

My mum still works at 70. I suspect I will too, willingly. I enjoy working. -

If it didn't adversely affect me financially, probably no but I'd start taking bigger risks with my career. I might also go back to uni. -

Firstly, I'm not a leftie. Secondly, before you start spouting ignorance about human rights, try actually reading the HRA or ECHR. It's not really that hard to engage brain, you know. Thirdly, don't give up the day job for the third rate comedy. -
Also may be worth posting this on www.se23.com and the Sydenham Town Forum.

I can't download apps as I only have a work phone. Is there any other way to submit the data? Interested only for the purposes of the end goal, not the prize!

If that was the case, why didn't you just post the content instead of linking back to your forum? What's wrong - did your new vet-checked members discover your views on Enoch Powell and how poor women should abort rather than risk needing financial support and decide to leave? Must be a bummer losing the traffic stats.

What Jenny said. Most vets do not recommend it. Feliway has just released a new diffuser called Feliway Friends which is supposed to release similar scents to the pheromones queens produce btw.

You don't seem to understand what human rights are. Not being scratched by prickly plants, no matter what the Daily Fail or the Sun says, is not one of them. -
Agree on the above (new catflap, speaking to people feeding him, Feliway). Lots lots lots more attention when you do see him too. Cats are incredibly sensitive to life changes (one of ours took over a year to recover from a move) and he sounds as though more work is needed to reinforce the bonds between you too. Cats are crepuscular rather than nocturnal, so why he may appear to be more active during the whole night to you, you are actually cutting him off from his territory by not allowing him access in at night. A cat would read this as being pushed out.

Anyone read any good fiction recently?
P.O.U.S.theWonderCat replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Lounge
I've not read it, but if you like thrillers "His Bloody Project" was nominated for a Man Booker prize this year. http://themanbookerprize.com/books/his-bloody-project-by-graeme-macrae-burnet If you get lost for inspiration, it can be fun to read your way throught the Man longlist. -
Technical point Loz but, if that is what you meant, the fact that all of my non-EU migrant friends voted Remain wouldn't have needed the comment from you that my experience didn't bear out with voting patterns... I'd still be interested to see the evidence for the assertion that migrant Brexiteers were non-EU. You could well be right, but I've not seen that reported anywhere yet.
-
I'm not sure that the voting patterns as a whole demonstrate your claim that mainly non-EU migrants were pro-Brexit.

Originally I thought May was mad putting Leadsom in charge of environment, until the penny dropped that she would have to be accountable to the farmers which are going to lose their subsidies long term.
