  1. Yes - But I don't think they expected to be charging some customers 0.75% for quite so long, especially as these loans were perhaps 5.75% when taken out. There is no hedge that will have ironed that out. The money needs to be made up elsewhere.
  2. My advice is don't spend more on the buggie than you spent on your house. The price gap is getting ever closer.

Its also relevant that the banks have lots of people who took out lifetime trackers at a fraction over the Bank of England base rate 4 or 5 years ago, who are currently paying about 1%, or less. The banks are making a significant loss on the loans to these customers which it has to make up elsewhere.
  4. Unfortunatley club comps/matches take up my golf for the next few weekends johnny. I'll be in touch if that changes. You are about the same standard as me so would be good to get a game at some stage, but unfortunaltey with family committments my opportunities for additional golf is limited. Hope you mamage to sort something. Mick.

  6. I'm sorry - that's just rude.
  7. Off you go then.
  8. There seems to me to be a lot of pressure on mothers to breast feed. There seems to be a lot of research suggesting its best for the baby, or so its implied. I think however the pressure is too much to the extent that mothers sometimes feel like a failure where they are unable to breast feed, however unjustified this feeling may be. Most of the older generation were not breast fed and seem to have fewer allergies etc than children these days, but that could be down to other factors. On the family v lounge - a good subject for a thread on the lounge will still get a fair amount of serious posts. But in general the other sections of the forum including the family room are intended to be useful and people are aware of that and are in general helpful.
  9. Big bet done on Brazil to win tournament at 3-1, (to go with all my little bets on all the other teams).

  13. Katie. But but but - the Open golf is on that day.(you should know that of course). Putt putt putt. Tut tut tut.
  14. What you need to do clare is find a man who likes football. They are the best ones. Cant trust a man who does not as he will probably try to convert you to weekends of coffee and guardian reading talking culture and bollocks. Find a pub that is showing the next england world cup match and...... Doh. I have just realised you might have to wait another 4 years to spot an england fan- unless you do what daizie suggests and go for a brazilian (or something equally smooth and foreign).

In addition to missing Ferdinand, with some pace badly needed in defence, I think the England team missed a Scott Parker or equivalent to play alongside Barry. I'm afraid Gerrard and Lampard are only interested in scoring goals, not doing a proper shift in midfield. I'm not even sure its correct to refer to them as midfielders at all. Despite England's abject defensive deficincies, big matches are won and lost in midfield. There was no midfield in place for the 3rd and 4th goals. The defence and the midfield were mostly ahead of the ball and playing catch up when the Germans broke.
  19. I think Ferdinand was a huge miss for England. Their defence was absolutley deplorable today. Johnson Terry and Upson got the absolute run around. But they did have most of the possession, so the rest of the team must have done better than most of the pundits have said. John Terry was up the other end of the field for the last two goals. With no speed in defence they needed to defend deeper. You can get caught on the break once, but 4 times is a bit thick.

  21. I put my 6 month old son through the humiliation of wearing an england shirt today. Never again. Poor lad. He showed his objection by being sick all over it.
