  1. This thread seems to be loaded with people stating why the recession was bad for them or others close to them. This suggests to me that they should be most pleased that the recession has come to an end in that they are the people most badly affected by it.
  2. The end of the recession is good news for everybody. Discuss. Its like a school debate where the team debating the wrong answer has a bit of a challenge on their hands. We are no longer in recession FACT. Anyone who would prefer to have remained in recession is welcome to it.
  3. Positive attitude Declan. Good luck with the search. The end of the recession is good news for everyone, I believe. Apart from the short sellers maybe.
  4. Good idea Declan.
  5. FFS - How to kill a party.
  6. The French have nothing to defend and even if they had, Brian O Driscoll can find the gaps in their Maginot defences. :)
  7. Its over, but only at a crawl Should we all celebrate?
  8. Speaking of defending titles - are Ireland in it again this year?
  9. As Frankie Boyle says: "Yes, there is a vegetarian option tonight - eat the meat or feck off."
  10. Once a joke needs explaining its no longer a joke.

But for the champions league teams, in February and March the Premiership and Ch League take priority. If they happen to stumble through to the FA Cup semi final (utilising squad members) it then becomes important to them again as they can smell the cup final glory. But in Jan/Feb/Mar they have to balance priorities. I happen to think if you are going to go out you might as well go out early. So it will probably work out ok for Arsenal and Man United in the long run.

  13. Glad Arsenal lost - don't want them distracted from their main priority - winning the premiership and making me some money.
  14. That's him alright.
  15. Tonights Come Dine with Me Tonights was quite good but one of the diners died shortly after making the show. As he had only gone on the show to raise cash to help his ill sister, it was quite sad when they put up a notice at the end of the show saying he himself had died shortly after filming.
  16. No. Does not help with united winning. Did not want to have to factor them in too but thex are very much in with a shout. Would not rate their chances really except that Rooney is on fire at the moment.
  17. Yeah - Ger off my land!!!!....eh I mean thread. Jah (its my thread you know) Lush. :))

  19. Have backed Hamburg to win Europa League - they are a decent team and have also signed Van Nistelroy today, so that helps too. 18/1. Also backed Hewitt as an outsider for the Aussie Open at 66/1. Has Federer next but who knows....hes a fighter.
  20. Well - I have not seen it. Anyway - there are a lot of idiots watch football - it is often an intimidating atmosphere - don't think anyone will argue with that.
  21. What a great fight and it looks like Ali got what he deserved for all the Uncle Tom chat. Whoops = that was just the first fight. The manilla fight seems to have been an amazing fight. Frazier's corner stopped the fight after 14 which was disloyal but who knows may have saved his life. Ali collapsed immediatly after the Frazier camp stopped the fight, so both were in danger. Joe Frazier said he would have risked his life to go into the final round. He could not see. Ali apologised after the fight to Frazier for all the things he said. But he did not apologise to Frazier directly.

No Matthew - a much higher proportion of idiots follow football. Rugby is a bit more civilised, surely. I'm not aware that there has ever been violence between rugby fans - compared to the history of violence between football fans - surely that says it all.
  23. 2 hour programme just started on more 4 ch14 on the thrilla in manilla for all you boxing fans.

Hope Rory is not too upset (about his choice of team;-)).
  25. Was just about to say - have you noticed, there is a "1" in the year. But then Michael Dawson - what a plonker - why go to ground on that challenge! Poor.
