  1. An excellent suggestion, think we might go see the Jungle Book next week. Thanks for that.
  2. Always referred to these flats as "the ship flats" since I was a wee girl (which is quite a while ago now!)
  3. Was up the 1 o'clock club this afternoon and asked the builders when it was supposed to be complete, they told me 4 more weeks.
  4. You're not alone, had family over a couple of months ago, and when it came time to leave both my dad and my sister had flat tyres, which did seem a little odd, and we didn't think it was coincidence either. They are now paranoid about parking their cars in my road!!
  5. I went to St John's and St Clements also when it was in North Cross Road, as did my mum. And now my daughter will be going there too, although obviously on the new site in Adys Road. Can anyone top three generations going to the same school? Jo
  6. Never had a problem in Nero's, but I only go in on a Tuesday morning, so maybe it's worse by the end of the day, and not seen any rubbish on the street from them either. Have to say I love Nero's, only place you can get a good coffee and get more than one buggy in the shop without completely blocking the whole place up!
  7. Definately Dulwich Park, hire them a bike, keeps them occupied for an hour (and wears them out!!). Further afield Christmas Tree Farm nr Downe, Bromley way is good for an afternoon. Cheap and cheerful, the kids love feeding the snimals. Also on a wet day going up to the museums in London is good, especially the Science museum, lots of hands on things to do. Train from East Dulwich station (no steps, soooo much better than slogging the buggy up all those at Peckham Rye), train to London Bridge, which has lifts to the tube. Only steps then are at South Ken station. Museum of childhood in Bethnal Green is good too, but lots of stairs and no lifts on the tube line!
  8. Actually, there really is a Desmonds on Bellenden Road, the shop front was used in the series of the same name.
  9. I third that motion. An excellent authentic indian restaurant. Really good staff, excellent food - not a chicken tikka masala in sight. But I've found you definately need to book, as not a huge place, and always very busy.
  10. Sticking my head above the parapet - please don't shoot! I am religous, I belive in God and Jesus, I go to church, my children are baptised. My oldest has just got into the local church school, which I am thrilled about, so she will get a grouding in her faith at school, as well as at home. That's all I have to say, I am not an eloquant person, unlike most of you on here, so can't always put into words what I want to say, but as very few others have held up their hands I thought I should, either that or East Dulwich really is a mostly non-religous area now. But out of curiousity, how many of you with children have had them baptaised/christened, but don't attend church? And why did you feel the need to have them baptised? Jo
  11. Does anyone know what's happened to the slide at Goose Green swings? One minute it was there, the next gone. There are rumours of some skallywags angle grinding it off and selling it for scrap, is this the truth? Is nothing sacred any more?! Jo
