  1. Excellent, I love Italian, but do hope you will be child friendly for lunchtimes/early evening, as my kids also love pasta (and are very well behaved!).
  2. Could try Woolworths in Rye Lane, they normally have some in.
  3. I don't care who serves my coffee, be it independant or chain, as long as it is good coffee, reasonably priced, there is somewhere to sit and I can get my buggy in without blocking the way for everyone else. Will be signing when I am next in there.
  4. Netto's is OK, but Lidl's is much nicer, and just as cheap, bigger car park too, which doesn't seem that busy these days.
  5. Lived on Wingfield St for 12 years now and love it. Never had any trouble, neighbours are fantastic and very friendly. Got the choice of Lordship Lane or Rye Lane (depending what I want). Equal distance between Peckham Rye and East Dulwich stations. House prices are rising though. 2 house sold on the street for around ?430,000 and next door has just gone on for ?470,000. All I keep saying is "How much for a terraced house in Peckham??!!" (We bought ours for ?70,000, just to rub it in). Jo
  6. That's terrible - hope you are OK - definately let us know what the girls look like. Seems to be a spate of attacks going on, not a good thing at all.
  7. Got mine on Sunday.
  8. When I lived on Oakhurst Grove we had a lovely big silver birch outside, didn't appear to be anything wrong with it, not leaning, no diseased, and it provided a bit of privacy from the flat opposite. Came home from work one day, thought something had changed - took me a good half hour to work out the tree had gone. No notices, no warning - just gone. Really missed it.
  9. Keef - Ms Gatliffe is the Head
  10. My daughter has just started at St John's and I too have noticed the number of parents that ignore the yellow zig zags - it's so annoying, and dangerous. Maybe we should have a word or write to the Head and she could send out a reminder to parents about not parking on them (don't know if this has already been done or not). Jo
  11. Thanks for posting that Stephen, haven't been for a couple of weeks, and would have rolled up at 11.30 for family service and would have missed everything. Jo
  12. Born in Dulwich Hospital, and lived in and around East Dulwich my whole life, so coming up 39 years. But as with one of the other poster, my family has been around here for a couple of hundred years!!
  13. Which area are you talking about? The playground within Peckham Rye Park, the one o'clock club, or the swings by Goose Green?
  14. Ah, well this was last week, so will have a stroll round tomorrow and have a look see.
  15. Not open yet, still being fitted out by the look of things through the window.
  16. This scam must have been going for years. I remember getting done when I lived in Oakhurst Grove. Lived in the top flat, gave the bloke a tenner (he got me as I was going out), said he'd be back and of course never did turn up. This was about 92/93!
  17. And before he lived in the shack he used to live in an old VW camper van on Oakhurst Grove for about 6 months. Was right near where I lived at the time, the tax disk had run out in 1976!! Don't know how he managed, it was all through the winter. Nice chap.
  18. Wouldn't go there for a romantic meal, but with the kids it's great. They love the salad cart (and actually eat most of what they choose), the kids meals are good, and the adults are OK. Only ever go early bird though, wouldn't pay full wack. They do give out colouring stuff, and are very accommodating to the kids, which is what we look for nowadays when eating out with them. Oh for the days of long lunches and grown up dinners!!
  19. An excellent suggestion, think we might go see the Jungle Book next week. Thanks for that.
  20. Always referred to these flats as "the ship flats" since I was a wee girl (which is quite a while ago now!)
  21. Was up the 1 o'clock club this afternoon and asked the builders when it was supposed to be complete, they told me 4 more weeks.
  22. You're not alone, had family over a couple of months ago, and when it came time to leave both my dad and my sister had flat tyres, which did seem a little odd, and we didn't think it was coincidence either. They are now paranoid about parking their cars in my road!!
  23. I went to St John's and St Clements also when it was in North Cross Road, as did my mum. And now my daughter will be going there too, although obviously on the new site in Adys Road. Can anyone top three generations going to the same school? Jo
  24. Never had a problem in Nero's, but I only go in on a Tuesday morning, so maybe it's worse by the end of the day, and not seen any rubbish on the street from them either. Have to say I love Nero's, only place you can get a good coffee and get more than one buggy in the shop without completely blocking the whole place up!
  25. Definately Dulwich Park, hire them a bike, keeps them occupied for an hour (and wears them out!!). Further afield Christmas Tree Farm nr Downe, Bromley way is good for an afternoon. Cheap and cheerful, the kids love feeding the snimals. Also on a wet day going up to the museums in London is good, especially the Science museum, lots of hands on things to do. Train from East Dulwich station (no steps, soooo much better than slogging the buggy up all those at Peckham Rye), train to London Bridge, which has lifts to the tube. Only steps then are at South Ken station. Museum of childhood in Bethnal Green is good too, but lots of stairs and no lifts on the tube line!
